It's not idiocy. Some of us have been with the game longer than the DayZ mod, and don't hold it up against BF3 and COD as a yardstick. Arma (and the entire back-catalogue for that matter) is about hyper-realism. And when you jump from a height carrying gear/weapons - you'll do damage. Fact of life = fact of Arma. -

Your best bet might be to join a fairly quiet night time server, and hope to creep out. A full daytime server and you're most likely going to be PVP toast. -

Recent beta locked changing brightness and gamma a bit. Well there you go then. Yet to play the beta at night. -
Flashlights taking up either weapon slot?

The issue you'll find, however, is that Arma manages primary and secondary weapons as just that - separate categories. How annoying would it be to have a flashlight in your primary slot, and then only find batteries for a "secondary" flashlight? The engine also doesn't allow for dual-wield - you're better positioned to find yourself a gun with a built in flashlight. Anyone with modding experience please correct me if I'm wrong on this - admittedly never created weapon mods for A2. -

If you take such violent offence you could just play on daytime servers? Or turn your brightness/gamma/HDR to max? Personally, night time is the best time. Edit: I have been informed that brightness/gamma/hdr is no longer an option. -

There are also servers named incorrectly - e.g. 1.7.0 who are running 1.7.1 It's a bit annoying to connect just to get a version error. -

Fall damage is an Arma thing, I doubt very much that the modders could do anything about it.
