Especially when I re-spawn in Svetlojarsk!
-
Yes, but I didn't log out above ground level. I was looting and then BAM. I've have some bad luck with this game the past few days.

I was up the first flight of stairs in the tower. Sorry to mislead people into thinking it happened in the MIDDLE of the hangars. I took a snap shot immedietly after it happened. I'll have to post it on here when I get home from work today. Let me go into clearer detail now that I'm not F*&@ing raging. I don't attribute it to zombies because; > There was no shriek > There was no attack "thud" > My leg was broken > I died instantly. > I scouted the area from the SE corner to the NE corner a few times through binoculars. Saw nothing. I do no attribute it to a person because; > I heard no sound. > I scouted the area from the SE corner to the NE corner a few times through binoculars. Saw nothing. > I move very carefully and constantly check my surroundings. > I was inside. I'm not a DayZ God but i'm also not stupid. I didn't log out standing in the middle of the airfield with my hands up in the air.

Well, Regrouped, cut my losses, and muscled my way back north to the barracks. Got tired of waiting on my pal to login so I made my way to the airfield. While looking through the hangers I was randomly hit, with nothing around. Broken leg, Leg in pain, I am dead. I had four cases inside of my backpack full of ammo, binoculars, a beautiful Mosin with attachments, brand new axe....

Persistence Enabled vs Persistence Disabled [OPTING IN/OUT]
StarLord (DayZ) replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I've noticed that a lot of the loot I come across is worthless, as well as in damaged or badly damaged condition. My latest character spawned in Cherno and I'm working my way to the barracks north of Veresnik. So far I've found a lonely Mosin and 20 rounds. This is after looting every building I could in Cherno, some apartments and the jail to the north, and I'm just now getting to Nadezhdino. Persistence On server. -
You're literally just reaffirming my perspective. Just stop. No one thinks your cool, or cares that you're lower on the totum than a bandit. Done here.

I'm sure... Besides that's not "winning". The idea of the game is to survive, I'll give you that, but you're the equivalent to that of the famed COD or Halo camper. Sure, you get kills, but anyone can do it that way, and the game is generally 10X more fun without you.

Is This A Mechanic Or A Bug? Bone Condition Death...
StarLord (DayZ) replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
In a ROW, I'll totally agree with you. In that case it should be two. Not once you've healed back fully, to the games standards. Not even to include military equipment and gear. Is there a difference then? You could hit me with a pipe wrench well over 7 times in my vest in a row and I'd be hurting, maybe some cracked ribs, MAYBE, but I'd certainly be alive. Besides, your argument is based only on a pipe wrench. Fists? Baton? What's the threshold there? Most bones heal back stronger than ever in real life. My problem is the threshold IS low and it NEVER regenerates. Which is exactly why it's a work in progress. 1,860 posts. Very respectable, but don't try to call me out on my opinion when you're only thinking with one track. So relax. Critiques are what make the game better. -
Is This A Mechanic Or A Bug? Bone Condition Death...
StarLord (DayZ) replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
This is interesting. I've had my char a good while now. 7 Hits to the chest with a pipe wrench did him in... That's really not a lot of tolerance. -
Not really. There are times where I run around desperately looking for food because I'm "dying of starvation". Water also isn't cake to find outside of the wells. I think maybe a happy medium would be make the majority of the fruits and vegtables you find scattered rotten or on the verge of being rotten.

Naw, I jump from town to town. If I do run into someone whose in trouble I assess the situation and attack accordingly. None of this random hero run and gun ish. BE TACTICAL!

Something I always think back on when playing any video game with Z's in it. In my mind you've got 3 real choices. 28 Weeks later zombies - Very hunterish, medium speed, pretty dangerous. Dawn of the Dead [Remake] - Pretty hunterish, very fast, very dangerous. Walking Dead - Not-so hunterish, slow, dangerous only in hordes.

Out of all curiosity, I've searched and haven't really found anything. Do people host PvP events? Not just a PvP server because let's face it... That's any server. I mean a time, location, and team. Sort of like a PvP arena? Anywho, I was playing a nighttime server and had this idea of pure badassery. A password protected server, meet and greet at Skalisty Island, Cherno factory, or Devil's Castle. The only requirement would be to possess a glowstick (Red or Blue) and a weapon. Teams divide, move to set locations as a "camp" and then at the appointed minute commense the battle. When you get a kill, go retreive their glowstick. Team with the most glowsticks at the end wins. I realize this would take some orchastrating, so you could only pull it off with some reputable people, but hey, could you imagine how friggin' schweet something like that would be? Hunting down glowing sticks moving through the woods, especially on Skalisty Island? Thoughts/Improvements/Criticisms?

Okay well let's slow down here. Clearly it's an inticing idea. For this to be done correctly I'd need to learn-up on a few things. I'm fairly new (About a month and a half). 1. Work out a server 2. Gather a list of honorable players who won't kill until the hour of the battle 3. Figure out the best time 4. Run a small test battle 5. Battle Roy-Al (I know it's spell incorrectly, it's supposed to be for infusis. I'm going to bump this thread once I do some more digging on the best way to get this going... Stay tuned.

More of just a thought. I like the mix of Zombies in DayZ. However it would be neat to see a horde I guess. How would you rank the DayZ zombies?
-
That sounds awesome. Still though. A battle for glow-sticks.... I just feel like if it could be pulled off, it would be absolutely epic.

I've played DayZ Standalone for a few weeks now, but I just recently have learned of the forums. My first experience in DayZ went a little something like this... I spawned just outside of Cherno (Didn't know that at the time) and ran towards the town. After hitting one or two buildings for some petty loot I ran into a man wearing his skivvies and a motorcyle helmet crouched in the corner of a piano house. I didn't have a mic yet and couldn't talk so I waved. He stood up, gave me the middle finger, and pulled out an axe. Nievity took over and I decided to type to him [/Hey there. First timer here. Did you loot this building already.] He stood there for a moment, put on a clown mask, pointed at me, and responded in text with [i'll loot your soul.] All of the sudden I start to hear a buildup of a song I recognized, DethKlok - Thunderhorse. I took off running. He chased me for a good 15 minutes, looping Thunderhorse over and over again, until he eventually caught me at Balota, and chopped me to bits. All in all it was a typical troll on a new guy. At the time however though all I could think of was "WTF!" Now I'm on my third day with the same character and I'm feeling like one day I should pay the trolling forward.

Yes sir. Literally the first person I had ever come across. I knew when I started I would suck so I chose servers with like 6 people or less. I'm loving the game though. Still a lone wolf other than the occasional meet up with some personal friends. The more I watch guys on Youtube jumping into filled servers and having a blast the more I want to do that, but I have the hardest time finding useful loot as it is.

I think I had been playing for about half an hour and it was my second server. I spawned into it and 10 minutes later I met his clown majesty.
