Had the nickname Star Lord before the movie.
Proud to serve, but it's not my identity.
Contracts up soon, and I'm not reenlisting.
I caught a 120lb bull shark this past summer 2014.
I play DayZ whenever I can.

So you leave his smart ass comment, but delete mine? DONE. Done done done done done done done.

This is exactly why I can't wait for vehicles. Can you imagine how much fun there is to be had?!

If you think that tactics are 90% common sense then you obviously have zerrrrroooooooooo experience. The idea in itself sounds like common sense, but as far as specifics go, not so much. Read my guide when I post it. I bet you learn something.
-
No you're actually reading my mind. I see what you mean now in regards to direct spawning. I think I'm going you use a mock up mission brief, and then run through the best way to apply military tactics to DayZ in an effective way. Run through the motions, from planning, moving, how to move, how to respond to indirect and direct fire, sectors of fire, setting up a quick perimeter to loot, how to assign roles to team members, best way to clear a building if you have insurgents firing from it (I see a lot of videos where stairs are done SO wrong), and a few more topics. I really enjoy writing so I hope people don't think it's odd that I'm going to go so into detail.
-
I'm talking in regards to the SA. As far as I know you can't direct spawn? If that were the case then you're absolutely right. When I say perimeter's I'm speaking on establishing your sectors of fire. I saw a post the other day from someone who was storyboarding their team's mission, and he gave n example photo of their sectors of fire, which were totally screwed up. This is what prompted me to want to make a guide.

DONE DONE DONE DONE DONE.

Agreed.

I think the map is large enough to support upwards of around 150 people, and still get a great experience.

You're singing to the wrong crowd. Don't get me wrong. I sympathize with the people who are patient and understanding, but I barked up this tree a few days ago and was totally shut down by people wanting to complain their case. How they spent 30 dollars and (get this) verbatim "black mailed into clicking the agreement", and that they deserve the game's unforeseeable and evolving bugs fixed immediately, as if they had a bargaining chip. My only words from here on out to the people who complain constantly.... Go the fuck home and play something else. That is all. EDIT*** Oh, and they'll nit-pick your example into detailed specifics to defend their case, missing the overall message of the OP. It's a frustrating crowd.

Da' great moments ... of organized group play
StarLord (DayZ) replied to GodOfGrain's topic in General Discussion
Nice story. My only critique would be your sectors of fire, and not having a man posted where karmaterror showed you. You've got men A and B covering conflicting sectors. The problem with that is when they go to check one or the other, they're totally unaware of what's going on, on the other. Secondly, you have gaps in coverage. Particularly to the south. Going off of your drawing all I would have to do is send a man to walk right up the hangar line and I could infiltrate. You've got three guys (D,E,F) covering a sector that one man could almost cover. Just saying, it's pretty shotty. Overlap the pie! lol The idea should be everyone have a designated sector of fire, which overlap about 20-30m, and they never take their eyes off of that slice of the pie. This way you NEVER have the problem of "I didn't see them". But hooah to you're spirit and cool story! -
This week's continuation of The Myth of Jacob. I finished the assignment, awaiting grade, but I figured I'd deviate from the paper itself and have my fun with this. I have a very long story coming together in my mind and didn't want to limit myself to any sort of length. Enjoy! In case you missed it: Chapter One: Awake at Last → http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/212677-the-myth-of-jacob-chapter-1-updated/ The Myth of Jacob - Chapter Two: Jonas the Giant The stranger stood up and stumbled down the steps of the front porch, falling to the ground with a harshness that left him lying still. His breathing was heavy, and panicked, almost like a fish struggling out of water. His vision was blurred, and slowly fading in and out like a pulse. With his last sight of consciousness the stranger made out a set of legs walking towards him, and then all was dark. “Wake the fuck up!” A deep and raspy voice commanded. The words echoed in the strangers ears like a cave. “Get your ass up or ill leave you here to die, boy.” The stranger’s eyelids peeled open slowly to see a giant man standing over top of him. “That’s it, come on now, stand up slowly.” The stranger painfully made his way to his feet, and then fell back; sitting on the steps of the front porch he had just fallen down. “What happened?” The stranger asked in a defeated tone. “Zed’ got wind of ya’. Watched him bust out of the tree line and chase your sorry ass up to this building.” Slowly, the event started to collect in the depths of the stranger’s memory. “A Zed…? I heard a gunshot, was that you?” The man drew his pistol and pointed it at the stranger, “Yes sir, managed to pop old zed there right before he got ya’. Bullet must’a went through and grazed your leg. You fell and slammed your head into the ground right there. Ain’t no way that scrape woulda’ made you faint. I just assumed you were wearing a particularly tight pair of panties today.” The stranger ran his cold and shaking hands through his hair and looked up at the man. He was massive, wearing a military uniform complete with a helmet and bullet proof vest. The vest looked worn, but was riddled with various pieces of gear, equipment, and supplies. He had a long wooden rifle and an axe strapped to a large backpack, which was full of only God knows. In his left hand he held a gas mask. In the right, was the pistol, still brandished and pointed directly at the strangers eyes. To top it all off, he had a large and rugged gray handle bar mustache, complete with stubble. This world normally make someone look foolish, but somehow, it suited him just fine. The man spit out a wad of chewing tobacco and wiped his mouth with his sleeve, “So what the fuck, boy? I save your life and I don’t even get a ‘Thank you Jonas. I appreciate the wasted bullet Jonas. Wanna come watch a fucking movie at my place, Jonas?’” His sarcasm was apparent, but refreshing in a way. At least he knew he wasn’t alone, and this man ‘Jonas’ at least seemed to know what was going on. “Alright, to hell with it, what’s your name sunshine?” Jonas said as he began to get frustrated at the stranger’s silence. “I… don’t know. I don’t even know where I’m at. I don’t know what was chasing me. I don’t know anything.” The stranger said softly. Before Jonas could reply he snapped his head quickly, eyes darting back and forth across the horizon down the road. It was written all over his face, he saw something. His visage went from amusement to concern quickly. “Get up!” Jonas barked as he kicked the stranger hard in the legs. “What’s going on?” The stranger said as a look of confusion grew on his face. “Get up, or good luck. You either follow me, or you can deal on your own boy. I’m not gonna save you twice today. Now follow me or stay here and be bait.” Before the stranger could respond Jonas took off in the direction of the woods, pistol in hand, eyes fixated down the road. The stranger gathered himself and quickly followed suite, running passed the monster that had led him to meet Jonas in the first place. He didn’t have time to stop and inspect, but the “Zed” that was chasing him looked horrifying, as if it had been rotting for months. “What the hell…” The stranger thought at mid sprint. If that didn’t bother Jonas then whatever was headed their way next was something he knew had to be dangerous, but still, the stranger thought, was Jonas dangerous to him?

how about the servers with 8 times more loot?
StarLord (DayZ) replied to kakysas666's topic in General Discussion
I will say this much. I typically like to play on full vilayer or fragnet servers. The loot is typically very scarce and usually in bad condition. This weekend I played with a friend of mine on a server that's not consistent. I can't remember the exact name but an example would be "Pop's Map". Anyway, so I join up as a fresh spawn at Kamishovo and start looting enough to make it to Berezino. Low and behold I'm finding GREAT loot, all pristine. A backpack, ton's of food, an axe, canteen, a pistol w/ mag and rounds, cargo pants, military top... Almost every single house I went into had some form of food in it. Most had clothing/supplies. It was a server that restarts every two hours, but I didn't see multiples of anything. -

haha :D omg bringing back hilarious childhood memories. That reminds me of this >> watch and I swear you'll die of laughing. "Let's get some shoes!"

I've never used one. Whenever myself or one of my buds go down we just wait to see if they regain consciousness. If not we take everything off their character so it doesn't despawn with the body.

For those of you that have lost faith in DayZ...
StarLord (DayZ) replied to pabloottawa's topic in General Discussion
I know, and I've done that here >> http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/212457-come-on-man/?hl=starlord#entry2130699 << as a matter of fact you replied to one of my comments on that thread. I stated I'm disappointed, vented my feelings, and then kept on playing. I didn't threaten to quit playing the game or call them out in a degrading manner.
