[Street Lights] Power Grid Maintenance
doomdude1 replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Just to clarify for newer players just how endgame he means: In order to get Elektro going (somehow), you'd need so much loot and time invested that getting two helicopters would be a cakewalk. If you imagine there would be a hypothetical 1000 organized groups out there when (if) this is implemented, one or two would have this. No more. -
How do I not panic/shake when I get in a gunfight?
doomdude1 replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
Oh also. Don't alt+tab while near armed people. The game will auto fire upon getting back in and you'll have a bad time. -

Can we stop this instant-ruined-everything stuff?
doomdude1 replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
Unless it's the 40mm grenade. That hurts everything. -
What I'd like better is to have dead players reanimated as zombies with their gear on them, after an X amount of time.

Adult Gamers NAPF Server - Active Adult Admins - Custom Mods - Wicked AI System -Custom PVE mods - This IS the place to play.

I love the fact you emphasized adult admins. -
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS NOT MEANT TO SERVE AS A REPORT (I already submitted it through proper channels) I was wondering if anyone had any experience with reporting a server. Did you get feedback? Did the server owner get reprimanded? Does reporting actually work / do anything?

$50 games with release day DLCs kill the industry, dude.

I agree with Mike, physics might get crazy with players being leashed to other players, though I see how things could be done - Handcuff feet (footcuff?) - Forces the player in the slow walking mode - Handcuff feet and hands - Requires rope, two pairs of handcuffs (both applied on the player) - Handcuffs player and forces slow walking mode - Handcuff to lamppost, fence, object etc. - Sets a small AOE where the player can move freely, unable to move outside of it, can only use one hand Other than that, great idea.

Did you submit reports via direct email or via DayZ overlay?

How do I not panic/shake when I get in a gunfight?
doomdude1 replied to cheeseburger8's topic in New Player Discussion
A random server I played on yesterday had the perfect message: "Remember that it's not YOUR gear, you found it. You can find it all again just as easily" -
I disagree on one point. Smersh vest isn't "top tier" it's "mythical tier"

Maps combine automatically if you drag them one over another. I think Nort+South and East+West works (other combos don't). Also, using a compass with a map is easy as IRL. Find a town, grab a compass and navigate. Besides, even though I constantly use DayZDB because of the great functionality, finding your own way around is a lot of fun. why are bags so rare compared to other items ?
doomdude1 replied to dgeesio's topic in General Discussion
I agree actually, bags are more common IRL. Counting all of my duffle bags, backpacks and courier-ish bags, I probably have around a dozen. So if this world goes to sh*t, come over to my place. However, you constantly have to keep in mind the balancing issues. If you went for parity with real life, you'd probably find a LOT more Taloon backpacks and above. That creates an issue of other backpacks being pointless and everyone just looting everything, due to the inventory space. -
Ahhh, danke, that clears things up and is completely fine in my opinion.

Do NOT join servers at least until 3-5 min after a restart
doomdude1 replied to xploD's topic in General Discussion
Didn't know this and I risked joining a bunch of times. -
(Only played a bit of the mod, forgive me for being a newbie about it) So, if I understood everything right, private shards are the legalized version of the currently (reportable) servers that some people have for them and their friends to farm on? The the thing that shouldn't be understimated is the amount of money people will throw at the game. A lot of kids (mentality, not age wise) will have 0 issue spending their/their parents' money on a server where they can farm gear then hop onto a 40 man server and wreak havoc. I'm not sure this is good for the game in the long or short run (unless I misunderstood everything).

Top ten things you should pick up in a survival situation, but often don't in DayZ.
doomdude1 replied to AlfalphaCat's topic in General Discussion
Real life survival in a Chernarus region? I'm assuming picking "standard survival kits" isn't allowed, since those contain more than the top 10 essentials. 1. Knife with a scabbard, hopefully the scabbard contains a sharpening stone 2. 10+ feet of strong non-nylon rope 3. Flint and steel (preferrably the steel is in the form of a small saw, that sh*t works like crazy) 4. 3 feet of nylon line 5. Several fish hooks 6. Matches in a waterproof container 7. Antibiotics 8. Medicinal alcohol for sterilization 9. Hatchet 10. Waterproof pack to carry it all in -
Every time I play my game ends with me falling and dieing
doomdude1 replied to Lethaltyrant's topic in New Player Discussion
Are you 100% sure you didn't do small leaps? A habit most gamers form is to ignore a 0.5-1.5m drop from one level to another (because in most FPS games that's below the "fall damage" threshold"), which results in broken legs/death in DayZ. -
What'd be nice is when a player dies there is a set chance of a zombie with his clothes respawning at his location after a while.

Smersh Vests: Holy grail? + Mi-8 crash sites in general.
doomdude1 replied to OmpaLompa's topic in General Discussion
I found some text about SMERSH vests online which basically says that the odds of one spawning are ridiculously low. That and the randomness of chopper crashes means that SMERSH combos will be practically impossible for a while. -
Here's the scary and beautiful thing about public tested games: A) Scary for two reasons: 1) Professional testers are out of luck and out of business with smaller projects where they could get the experience to work in a big company 2) The developers could realize the job is too big and grab the money and run B) Good for these: 1) The game gets a ton of bad testers (no offense) which plummets the testing quality for a bunch of things HOWEVER it allows for things such as balance and large-scale content to be done quickly and efficiently 2) The pressure is off for releasing the game as people can buy it to get their quick fix 3) The projects gets fund and is able to keep running

Anyone excited for the .357 Lever action?
doomdude1 replied to Whyherro123's topic in General Discussion
If they add a nice ol' duster along with that, I can make a cowboy with a .357 and the lever-action rifle. Yee-haw! -
Does this seem like it could handle 4k gaming?
doomdude1 replied to meat pie's topic in Technology/Programming
Try to refrain from getting pre-built PCs and build one yourself. You'll get more bang for your buck. -
That's excellent, if they use that as a new loot spawn and slowly start reducing the coastline high-tier spawns we might migrate players further inland.
