it would probably improve my looks :) I will say that I think one of the main reasons they have the headlamp is in the game is to accommodate having both hands free while using a light. seems to make sense, from a 'balancing' (I know that's a bad word around here) perspective, that the handheld flashlight provide less function -
"nope" what? my point is this engine handles these things differently from most other games (that people are thinking of). I think most of those 'open-world' games divide the map up into 'cells'. you can typically move from cell to cell without a loading screen, but long distance travel requires a loading screen. RV seems to do these things instantaneously regardless of distance

well 'irl' you're not gonna be too effective trying to hit someone with a baseball bat you're holding in one hand (at least not nearly as effective as holding it with two hands). might as well cut to the chase and let us use the flashlight as a melee weapon I agree the flashlight needs lots of work in general -
this seems to vary for me from server to server. I was playing on a server that was pretty bad lastnight. I was constantly getting this 'hitching'. I eventually got a red chain, and then the "no connection for..." countdown. I joined a different server, and it was much better (but not perfect). now that I type that, I should have rejoined the original server to see if the restart helped

I hope they can crack down on this sort of thing. at least on servers connected to the 'main hive' -

this is fundamental issue they've been dealing with for awhile. I don't think any amount of money will solve it

one thing is this game pretty much loads the whole map into memory. when you're teleported over long distances in the mod (something I unfortunately experienced because of hackers), it is instantaneous. almost every other open-world game with a fast travel option requires a loading screen for that sort of thing

Am i the only one with no performance issues?

I'm not gonna go there, as I've been dealing with these Arma games for awhile now. I just said that because everyone's posting their GPU, when (unlike most games) that most likely has little to do with the low framerates people are seeing discussions on framerates can be kind of frustrating because a lot of people just guesstimate their framerate. you need to be looking at an actual framerate counter (fraps, riva, etc). also so many people are used to bragging about their PC's performance, and/or defending the game, that they... well they might not be honest about their framerate like most people, my framerate is good away from cities/towns, and not so good in cities/towns. most of the time it's manageable, but last night my framerate came to a grinding halt in Berenzino. there also is that other 'hitching' issue that started a couple updates ago, that seems to be server related -

it has little to do with your gpu (as long as you have a decent one) -

to be clear, there was always the chance of finding military loot at Balota. or in fire stations. or the many deer stands scattered throughout the map (deer stands not spawning loot has actually greatly changed things, for me at least) I think you're kind of associating the barracks with 'elite loot', because that's how it was in the mod. my point is it doesn't have to be like that. and there could be solutions outside of "removing" or "moving" the barracks it's kind of a frustration I have at the moment with so many people that want to solve every 'problem' with very drastic measures, when this is all still very much a work in progress

I think there can be an overall conversation about loot distribution on the map. it's just that at the moment the loot is really limited, so it's hard to say how things will be when there's a larger selection of weapons. for instance, the military spawns are pretty much the only place to find guns at the moment. I assume that would kind of change when we get more civilian type weapons. I'm not sure if it's possible, but maybe they could make the barracks up north spawn even better loot. we still don't know what kind of random 'helicopter crash site' type loot spawns we may get it just seems kinda early at the moment to really worry about loot distribution. and I don't think that conversation should begin or end with Balota

that's the other thing. it seems it can't be that bad now since the loot won't even respawn

I haven't explored the whole (new) map yet, but I found like 3 new military installments on my Kamenka--->NWAF route. my point is there is plenty of stuff up north. but people will still tend to stay in the south, because that's where they spawn, and many think Cherno and Elektro is where it's at. many would say going up north is "boring", "a running simulator", etc. as someone that does like to go up north, it just seems to make things better for me (higher chance to find good loot, and lower chance of being chased by axe wielding new-spawn)

I'm sure plenty are. it's still an assumption though in general I don't know how some people manage to get themselves into so many firefights. this guy was shot 4-5 times with an M4 today, and I've yet to be shot at. probably because I stay away from Cherno/Elektro -
