  1. even better, they'll use that to justify their server hopping: "the loot doesn't respawn, so I have to server hop". pretty much assuming they're entitled to an M4 because they went to the barracks

    if people don't know how all these issues played out with the mod, that's fine. but to then come here and speak on it is basically an argument from ignorance

I would argue that it was just as easy, if not easier, to get military/good loot in the south in the mod those barracks at Balota are empty 10 minutes after the server restarts. in the mod you had respawning military loot at Balota, the 3(?) firehouses, those tents in Cherno, and various deer stands near the south coast. not to mention a damn good chance of finding an enfield or winchester in many locations

    this game doesn't exist in a vacuum. we've already gone through much of this with the mod. it is an exploit, and things were put in place (in the mod) to prevent it

    it's an "exploit" because you're using the mechanics of the game in a manner that wasn't intended. that "mechanic" is the fact that you spawn in the same place when you change different servers. this is supposed to accommodate the persistence of your character as you play from day to day. you log out somewhere today, and you log back in there tomorrow. it is not meant to be used to visit a particular loot spawn on different servers over and over shooting an unarmed player with a pistol is not an "exploit" in any way

    the guy was promoting server hopping because "they can't ban me" that seems a rather low place to set the bar for someone having a "different opinion" or "other expectations of the game"
  8. I'll pull out some old rhetoric and point out that they're "infected" and not "zombies" that may be semantics, but rocket has said he's not going for those kind of 'slow persistent zombies'. I think he usually refers to 28 Days Later

    a timer like you suggest for ghosting would help. at the moment it is very easy and quick to just jump from server to server. anything that would make it less convenient would help

  11. they do see you from very far away. but my experience has been that they're not as fast as they were in the mod. they're still pretty easy to lose, although them walking through fences and walls can make it tricky if you see one coming at you from pretty far away, and immediately run in the opposite direction, chances are you'll lose it before it gets close to you

    I hope there will be more civilian type weapons eventually. at the moment, getting your character to look like a soldier is pretty much the 'end game' really I hope the game can be about something besides finding the 'best' guns

    the loot doesn't even respawn though. if there's an overabundance of m4's, it's probably because people are server hopping... and because there's only 3 guns in the game that's the thing now. you see a squad and they all have m4's. it would probably seem different if some had shotguns, ak's, dmr, etc.

    these threads seemed to be based on the idea that "no military loot" means there's no reason to ever go there anyway, the map is still a work in progress and rocket has said new areas are planned

    maybe you shouldn't kill on sight this is an issue for everyone that groups up. if you can't stay in constant communication, then you need to at least tell them "I have a blue hat and an axe" or whatever

    just turn your brightness and gamma down. or cut to the chase and turn off your monitor :)
  19. yep, and they see you from damn far away. they're not faster than you anymore though. losing them can be tricky, since they walk through fences, and other things you might think would lose them

    How about a change in Day/nigth cycle ?

    at some point it comes to a kind of lose/lose situation, where it's going to be exploited or someone is going to be inconvenienced. the simplest thing (to me) is to let servers set their time, but not change the length of the days or cycles. maybe only let them set the time once every 24 hours, so they can't just set it back when it starts to get dark. they could also do it so the servers are tied to their timezone, but there's an option to offset the server by 12 hours I agree that if someone can only play from 9pm to 12am, they shouldn't be forced to never see daytime, or join a server halfway across the world. there needs to be some compromise for them

    they could still use those 3rd party programs though. this would just make it so any player in 'direct chat' range could also hear them it would basically be removing the 'push to talk' function in the game. it doesn't seem as necessary if there's only 'direct chat' anyway
