does the mic icon come up when you press caps-lock? make sure it's the default device through windows. right click the windows speaker icon, select "recording devices", and make sure it's the default device but I also haven't had much success with Direct Chat since the last few updates...

I hate when players try to dump their train of zeds on me. someone did it to me the other day in the airfield on the south coast. I had just recently spawned, but luckily had already found a hatchet. I was looking through the hanger for goodies, and in runs this unarmed player with 3 zeds in tow. he sees me, and starts running at and away from me to try to get his zed buddies to focus on me. luckily I was able to kill all 3 zeds, but I got hit and was bleeding. I bandaged myself up, walked over to the other player, and chopped his ass up as well. I felt kinda bad, but I was pissed he almost got me killed I was also thinking it would be cool if you could do this with the wildlife. like if you got a bunch of zeds on your tail, you could run near a cow, and they would all attack it instead -
new players will have to learn how to play like everyone else. the important part is learning what types of buildings to look for, and where those buildings are located. I've only been playing for a week (solo the whole time) and have no problem finding food, drink, and guns

my main issue is them seeing and/or hearing you through walls and objects. as well as them then walking through the wall to get you. it sucks when you're outside, they're inside a building, you can't see them (although you can usually hear them), and then they just walk through the wall and attack you. as it is now, you just have to be aware and try to avoid these things issues where it takes you out of prone suck as well. and of course breaking your leg when crawling through a door or whatever the way the terrain changes can be annoying too. you could be crouch-walking along through the grass with 1-2 'sight bars', then step on some mystery gravel, your bars shoot up to 4-5, and zeds see you -

there's no way to control that. the best they can do is worry about what they can control in-game I'm not arguing the issue, only the logic of bringing up stuff like that. it's like saying someone can break your window and break into your house, so why bother locking your front door -

yeah I thought about that. I think the easiest thing would be a bunch of pre-determined 'safe' spawn points. but you would need A LOT of them like you said, no easy task -

I can't think of a solution... it could give you a warning: "new player spawning in vicinity". but then the players there would have the advantage you could spawn with some sort of thing where you can't shoot or be shot for xx seconds. but then they'd just wait for it to wear off, and the shooting would start the only thing I can think of is it would spawn you close to where you logged-off, but not near players -

Skyrim is better optimized, but a lot of that has to do with various 'tricks' they use to not render too much at once. it's also a fantasy land with vertical mountains, majestic waterfalls, and all that good stuff. Arma 2 on the other hand cuts no corners, has a very realistic world, and yes, the performance suffers because of it -

funny, I don't remember any "ultra" settings... I don't think people appreciate the graphics in this game. I can't think of any other game that simulates a huge terrain like this game. games like Skyrim and Just Cause 2 come close, but not quite... -

today I saw sandbags blocking the stairs in the Electro firehouse. I was able to vault, but I've never seen that. it seems sometimes you can vault the barber wire, but not if it's by a doorway. and zombies walk right through it just like everything else... -

I think everytime they update the server they have to re-set the time, and some admins are just lazy. and maybe some just do it to offset the real time. I can't blame people if the only time they have to play is at night, and they would like to experience the game in daylight (without having to join a server halfway around the world) but yeah, 24 hour daylight sounds pretty lame -
nothing's guaranteed it's just more probable you'll find good stuff there

I think it's because they don't have the right beta files. I think it's also why many spawn in the debug zone. I was on a server lastnight where people kept complaining over side chat about being in the debug zone -
I'm not sure if he "minds" it or not, but he can't control it. the same with using 3rd party chat programs. he can control what's ingame, and there you spawn with no map. obviously he could let you spawn with a map if he chose, but he didn't...
