I've been getting the no items thing for awhile. it seems stuff starts spawning eventually, but it's quite annoying going to multiple locations and finding absolutely nothing. my guess is it's something to prevent server-hopping, but I don't server-hop and it sure affects me...

I find a lot of empty deer stands, but also a lot with AKM, AKS Kobra, etc. I think I found a silenced m9 at a deer stand post 1.7.2.3 it definitely seems like something has changed with the way loot spawns. I keep encountering completely empty supermarkets

as the game is, there really isn't much to survival, without the threat of pvp. once you get a hatchet, matches, a hunting knife, and a water bottle, you can 'survive' forever and not even go near zeds

yeah, it's exhilarating. I don't think it needs a detailed explanation. face it, the game wouldn't be as fun if there wasn't the threat of being killed by other players. it makes it a totally different game. I see another player and my heart almost comes out my chest. did he see me? do I take the shot? what if I miss? is he alone? will others hear the shot? does he have something I want? and no I don't kill unarmed noobs on the coast. I do like to fuck with them though. I'll shoot in the air, or shoot zeds around them. it's fun to watch them freak out (and sometimes DC) I'm not sure I could ever end someone's life 'in real life'. but this is a game. when you die, you lose your stuff and start over. it's not like you can never play the game again

you forgot the part where he was waiting for his friend to connect there too. you can't make this stuff up everyone knows how the barracks are: you get in and get out. it ain't the place to hang out

I think you just need Steam to validate the install. after that you can start it however has anyone noticed the rest of Arma 2 doesn't seem to work right with the beta exe?

it seems I encounter a lot of deer-stands and such that are completely empty. I don't bother waiting for stuff to respawn, but at the same time I didn't clear them out and I doubt someone else was there within the last 10 minutes every time. I've just noticed the loot spawns seem to have changed since 1.7.2.3, but I'm not sure how it works now

I think some of these mechanics have changed

the loot spawns seem a little f-ed up for new players I was kinda unaware for most of this update, because I had a 10 day old character that was only concerned with heli loot. but he died :( . when I spawned again, I went to 2 supermarkets, and some other buildings, that were completely empty (no empty cans, nada). I eventually found stuff, but it seemed kinda weird...

I agree. I was just pointing out that what he was doing isn't something that's gonna necessarily lead to killing "server-hoppers"

I don't care. my point is you probably would have got a kill there eventually regardless of server-hoppers

I've found my own body many hours later it seems to be awhile if you don't log out. my question is: if I get killed, decide I don't wanna play anymore, and log out legit (not alt-f4), does my body disappear?

meh, these accusations are a slippery slope. if I log out anywhere near the NWA, chances are I'm gonna head to the barracks when I log back in and start playing again. does that make me a "server-hopper"?

if I see a sniper, and I can't safely get a shot on him, I mark it on map and label it "sniper"

yeah, I'm saying the guy you killed might not have been a server-hopper. maybe he was, but you're camping one of the better loot spots in the game, so server-hopping or not, someone's gonna come along eventually

that sounds like a pretty lame excuse

how many heli sites per server are there? I always wonder after I find one if I should keep looking on that server

yep, it will just give players false security when they don't see anyone in the popular sniper spots
