  1. that's what I was saying. when I 'rush' into an area, there's no loot. it seems you have to be in an area for a certain amount of time before stuff starts spawning. if that's the case, I think that amount of time is a little too long
  2. I'm guessing you don't get artifacts from them
  3. are you sure you're "stuck"? sometimes it just takes a long time. it seems I either get right in, or I'm "loading" for 5+ mins. but I always get in eventually
  4. I think that was someone killing you from the 'debug zone' edit: it just happened to me but it didn't say anything about friendly fire. it just said "daze23 was killed" and I spawned in the 'wilderness' with nothing. I left that server right away, and joined another one. then I spawned on the beach by Balota, with all my stuff (I think i was near Green Mountain before) I think it has to do with the 'corrupt data' that was spawning people in the debug zone. now the fix is it spawns you on the coast. but I don't know...
  5. yep, I get those graphics artifacts from barbed wire too. it makes me want to avoid any area with barbed wire, cause it can get real bad, to the point I can't see shit
  6. I haven't even seen one yet. and I haven't seen a toolbox in a long time
  7. yeah, I don't know what's going on with the loot. it seems at first I'm finding nothing at all. then it's all crowbars, hatchets, and car parts. then the good stuff finally starts spawning I get the feeling it's something they did to combat server-hopping. it seems when I rush into an area, I find nothing. I just wish they were a little more open about telling us how it's supposed to be working. otherwise it just lead to a bunch of "OMG THIS GAME IS BROKEN, I FINDZ NO LOOTZ!!!"
  8. yep, that happened to me. then when I was walking away, looking back, I saw like 8 more pour out of it. then after getting far away, I realized I forgot to pick up some FAL rounds I saw. I went back and no zeds were there and no more respawned. weird...
  9. yep, and I can't resist noticing it. if I see no zeds around, I know no ones there, and vice versa. other things too, like when all the zeds around disappear, it usually means someone just spawned right around there. the zeds that just stand there also seem to have something to do with other players being around
  10. no. I don't see how private servers will help anything in the long run. the solution has to be something that's going to benefit all players, not just those lucky enough to have access to a private server
  11. night time would also be more dangerous if it weren't for the fact those servers tend to be pretty empty
  12. I saw this guy in a field far in the distance running from zeds. he was running towards some trees so I figured I would lose sight of him. but then he turns and keeps running in the open field, with the zeds still behind him. I just thought it was stupid for a few reasons, so I shot his ass. not to mention it was a 600m shot on a moving target and I had just found my first m107 B)
  13. the thing is if this were "real life", I probably wouldn't be taking chances in the dark. I'd be hanging out at my 'camp' and evetually trying to get some sleep I understand the concept of this being a 'simulation' and all, but at some point that's just gonna make people not wanna play. I do most of my playing at night, and if I was forced to only play on night time servers, I honestly wouldn't play much. I appreciate the realism, but I think at some point you have to ask if it's worth it
  14. Six Updater is using 95168, but I see some servers running 95208
  15. personally I'm ready for another update and I wouldn't say the Arma beta updates have 'nothing' to do with DayZ
  16. it's not "Soviet era" or "Russia". it's a post-Soviet country
  17. daze23

    My last death

    did he died?
  18. after a few hours of testing, I can confirm that the game is playable
  19. those beta patches pretty much are updates for Day Z

    There's nothing here...?

I've been getting the no items thing for awhile. it seems stuff starts spawning eventually, but it's quite annoying going to multiple locations and finding absolutely nothing. my guess is it's something to prevent server-hopping, but I don't server-hop and it sure affects me...
  21. I find a lot of empty deer stands, but also a lot with AKM, AKS Kobra, etc. I think I found a silenced m9 at a deer stand post 1.7.2.3 it definitely seems like something has changed with the way loot spawns. I keep encountering completely empty supermarkets
  22. as the game is, there really isn't much to survival, without the threat of pvp. once you get a hatchet, matches, a hunting knife, and a water bottle, you can 'survive' forever and not even go near zeds
  23. yeah, it's exhilarating. I don't think it needs a detailed explanation. face it, the game wouldn't be as fun if there wasn't the threat of being killed by other players. it makes it a totally different game. I see another player and my heart almost comes out my chest. did he see me? do I take the shot? what if I miss? is he alone? will others hear the shot? does he have something I want? and no I don't kill unarmed noobs on the coast. I do like to fuck with them though. I'll shoot in the air, or shoot zeds around them. it's fun to watch them freak out (and sometimes DC) I'm not sure I could ever end someone's life 'in real life'. but this is a game. when you die, you lose your stuff and start over. it's not like you can never play the game again
  24. you forgot the part where he was waiting for his friend to connect there too. you can't make this stuff up everyone knows how the barracks are: you get in and get out. it ain't the place to hang out
  25. I think you just need Steam to validate the install. after that you can start it however has anyone noticed the rest of Arma 2 doesn't seem to work right with the beta exe?
