that's completely independent of what you said. but yeah, it was a death trap in the mod, and known as a place to find military loot. when you went up into that top room in the ATC, you knew you better not stand in one place for too long. if people found weapons there, many would take them to Cherno or Elektro to 'deathmatch'. people that wanted to avoid all that, went up north. seems to be more or less the same now -

that's not true at all. the only place with particularly good military loot in the mod was NWAF (and heli crashes). doesn't NEA have the exact same buildings as Balota (ATC and two hangers)? plus Balota had the four deer stands across the street. I found many a AK at Balota, not to mention DMR's and such plus the loot actually respawned in the mod -
I'd like to see it get up around 80. In think more than that, and the map feels too crowded. I could change my mind when the map is finished though

rocket has talked about game mechanics like the ones you claim "no one wants". isn't getting sick from pond water already in the SA?

people can try to ignore the survival aspects if they want, but eventually being sick, hungry, and thirsty is going to catch up with them -
I don't think the game will ever be '1st person only', but I don't agree with these appeals to what kind of servers most people flock to

I don't see any inconsistency there. like i said the context is people using the same mic on skype and ingame chat. if they mute the mic all together, they can't talk to their friends on skype either

it's easy to avoid pvp if you just go inland. and if I get killed when I'm a fresh spawn (hasn't happened yet), I really don't care. I respawn, and now I know where to stay away from. it's not like it's the mod where respawning might involve 10 minutes looking at the loading screen(s) -
I didn't see anyone say that. obviously people can not use a mic at all it should be pretty clear what kind of situations the suggestion in the OP is trying to prevent: people using their mic to talk to their friends in game via 3rd party software, when they are both in direct chat range

it's already like that if they want to hold down 'push to talk' and troll people. if nothing else, it's pretty easy to get out of the direct chat range

well the context of this thread was they would be using that same mic to talk to their friends on TS/skype. no one is saying people shouldn't have the option to mute their mic. just that if they're talking to someone in game with their mic, everyone in the 'direct chat' radius should be able to hear it

I try to avoid other players, and generally don't kill them. but if there wasn't a serious risk of being shot by another player in this game, I don't think I would enjoy it as much -

I think eventually when there's more guns, they can make it so every barracks isn't equal. rocket designed the loot spawns in the mod so the more 'elite' loot spawned in the NWAF and Heli Crashes, and hopefully the loot can eventually have a similar balance in the SA. at the moment there's basically one gun, and it's easy to find in the barracks. the Mosin is more of a crap-shoot, since it can spawn in many places. an untouched military area is pretty much a guaranteed M4. and in my experience, the pistol is usually sitting right next to the M4. M4's.... M4's everywhere. it should change when more weapons are added, and there's more opportunity to actually have certain loot be more rare -

you have to be pretty lucky to find several, or any, mags. there's a few spots that spawn weapons, and generally people can only carry one, but chances are the first person through there will take all the ammo if people are getting them by server hopping, that is a separate issue -

Balota has always had military loot, and it's always been a death trap. it seems it should be less now, since the loot doesn't respawn. but I guess it's probably also the most popular place to server hop for loot, so it's going to end up with a high concentration of well armed players -

they should put 10x more military loot there. it keeps all the knuckleheads in the south :) -
can rocket think DayZ should be how he wants it to be? if he puts radios in the game, I assume he wants us to use them. at some point it's like someone using skype while playing ACRE. why can't people just stick to Arma 2 if they want to circumvent everything that makes DayZ a separate game? I don't think this idea of open mics will work either. but in the meantime, these "you'll never stop me, muhahaha" responses are disturbing

I think there could be a lot of cool dynamic situations if people would use the ingame systems. radios sound like a lot of fun. but yeah, people would rather speak directly with a 3rd party program, then try to code their conversation because someone could be listening

I think we will get radios, but I get the feeling no one will use them. I really don't want DayZ to become the dream that never was...
