the stand alone and blah blah blah I will say we were kinda of mislead. everyone knew this was gonna happen, but the powers that be kinda tried to deny it like "no no we're still gonna support the mod" I don't care, and I would rather have a working stand-alone sooner. but... woof woof :( -

I was being sarcastic with that "carebear" thing. it seems to be the goto insult when someone wants to change something in the game, so I took it to ridiculous levels. I considered using some kind of notation to indicate sarcasm, but yeah... I think it's equally ridiculous when someone suggests a change, people jump all over them like "the game wasn't meant to be balanced" and i wasn't talking about a game being "impossible to win". I'm talking about a game being "impossible" to do anything. just imagine you spawn, the zeds see you from any distance, run faster than you, kill you with one hit, and you have no weapon. again, I am not saying this is what DayZ is like. it's just an example of why "balance" matters, and how having an impossible game wouldn't be fun Superman 64 and ET for the 2600 come to mind... -
huh? COD = Call Of Duty KOS = Kill On Sight although I agree there's some overlap...

it's good for killing zeds. but i usually don't bother with it unless it has 3+ clips -
yeah.... beans the problem with the upvote/downvote thing is it seems to lose it's power over time. basically good ideas that are made soon after the topic is created get upvoted. but if you have a good idea later on, it tends to get lost in the shuffle

only carebears worry about what's legitimate the idea that DayZ isn't "balanced" or meant to be "balanced" is just ridiculous. in another thread I said "no one wants to play a game where you have no chance in hell", and of course some cool guy was like "I do". no you don't. you want a game that is a challenge, not a game that is literally impossible (and no I'm not saying DayZ is impossible. it's just a devil's advocate argument against this idea that "balance" doesn't matter) -

yeah, the i7 is overkill (but it can't hurt) and I would look into a more reliable PSU. that one has a lot of 1 star reviews. I would get something from Antec or Corsair

anyone that doesn't think so why do people care about hackers? edit: obviously Rocket was worrying about "balance" when he was picking and choosing what weapons and vehicles would be in the game, tweeking zombie behavior, etc the game is meant to be "difficult", and achieving that is a form of "balance" like i said, if you don't care about things being "fair" and "balanced", you should have no problem with hackers running around with god-mode, aim-bot, etc -

Consolidated Weapons/Equipment suggestions

I was thinking awhile back that it would be cool if certain items only spawned at night. I know it's kind of 'gamey', but I think it would encourage people to play more at night also I think the zeds should occasionally drop better loot. then maybe there would be more incentive to deal with them. or maybe make them the only source of something you need the other idea I have been kicking around is with some kinda of limited arbitrary 'treasure' items. like some stupid golden skull or something. again, it's kinda 'gamey', and the idea needs some work, but I'm just trying to think of a way to have some kind of end-game item that people/clans can fight over. but for some reason I think it would be cool if that item was totally useless. stuff kinda like the Mountain Dew now. I'm not sure how the servers will be set up, but it would be cool if you could somehow limit the item so there's only one per server -
well it all come down to the game being 'fun' or not I know we all like to be cool guys and say "rocket set out to make the anti-game". but lets face it, no one wants to play a game where you have no chance in hell

well things like an A-10 require a lot of ground support 'in real life'. I'm not sure this game is ready for a level of realism that involves greasing pistons and whatnot. it's bad enough there's a system where an ATV, bus, and tractor all use the same tires. I mean, how may jerry cans to fill up a jet plane? anyway, i don't think we need much explanation as to why every weapon known to man isn't on this (relatively) small piece of land

the nvg's are in a weird place now cause hardly anyone plays at night. they're great for looting on an empty server, but just know that anyone else on the server probably has them too. or they just turn up the gamma and brightness (another issue) there's also the issue of what they can be used with. I think the DMR is the only sniper rifle they work with. I'm not sure how that works 'in real life'. it's interesting you never hear anyone complain that the FAL AN/PVS-4 is 'overpowered'. that gun seems like a good compromise since it's useless in the day
