I don't agree. this is all a little beyond the scope of this conversation, but I find it interesting a European would seriously have that opinion I just brought up the Geneva Convention thing in an attempt to make a joke that related to what you were talking about. I don't think Sacriel owes anyone an "apology" for any particular incident like i said, I see a lot of our modern society as us getting away from many or our 'natural' behaviors. I mean there's people alive today that think it's right to publicly kill a young rape victim for 'shaming' their family. but I'm not gonna sit here with some moral relativism and try to excuse that shit like it's OK because that's how they've been doing shit for xxxx years and there's no reason to theorize about what type of dogs people like to watch fight. people watch dog fights to bet on them. no ones gonna put their money on the chihuahua

first of all I'll point out that much of our modern society is all about getting away from stuff like that. I mean various forms of public torture used to be common place, but unlike Sacriel, maybe you've heard of the Geneva Convention trollface.jpg and it also gets back to the point someone brought up ealier about it's value as entertainment. even with something a lot of people find cruel, like dog-fighting, people that are fans still want to see a reasonable competition. they want to see 2 pitbulls fight, not a pitbull and a chihuahua

well to be fair, did they "say" they thought that was a good camo for rooftops, or did you just see someone on a roof with a ghillie? I mean, it might not be the best thing when you're up there on the roof, but it's pretty good in other situations (like actually getting in and out of cherno). it seems most people just ditch their civilian clothes when they find a gullie, and don't bother switching back and forth we can discuss the virtues of sniping from the roofs in cherno in general, but that's kinda besides the point. I think most of us know that regardless of the camo you have, the people directly below you won't be able to see you. and the people on the hill will probably see you regardless of what camo you have on. I'm not sure any of the availible skins would be particularly effective as roof-top camo. plus you could argue the guillie still does have an advantage because it hides your backpack

Considering what's not working on DayZ
daze23 replied to Itsnotcrazyuntilchachacha's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Namalsk now has zeds in the woods. the thing is the woods there are mostly those pine trees, so when a zed sees you, it usually then lose it's line-of-sight right away as you run through the trees. but it definitely complicates things as far as using zeds and peripheral dots to find other players -
what a funny exchange. the OP say there hasn't been an update for 2 weeks. then the first reply links him to an update from 2 weeks ago :P

Why did the DayZ players changed so much?(From friendly kids to backstabbing twats)
daze23 replied to privatewolf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
well maybe you'd care to explain, since apparently I'm not that smart what exactly was this "problem" you were presenting? -
Day Zee (daisy) or Day Zed are fine. but not daze/days  edit: good video btw

just because you spawn near cherno doesn't mean you're obligated to go there. especially if you know there's a sniper there "fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me" -
would watching Mike Tyson box Pee Wee Herman be good entertainment? perhaps. but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't make for much of a 'sport' if nothing else DayZ is very different from other "multiplayer fps's" (to nitpick, most players seem to spend a lot of time in 3rd person). it's not COD, Quake, Unreal, etc. it's not even Arma 2. but never the less, it does seem like many people want to play DayZ like it was one of those games I anticipate there will be a great divide if Rocket delivers the survival game he's promised us with the stand-alone. there's already people up-in-arms about the debug monitor going away. I never wanted this thread to be a Sacriel vs Frankie thing, but I do think Frankie's playstyle is more inline with the theme of the game/mod. for that matter, I'm sure some of the Arma-snobs here would point out there's better mods to display tactical squad vs squad stuff (of course not nearly as many people play those mods) again, I'm not trying to be dramatic, or tell anyone they're playing the game wrong. I think these are things that the devs, as well as Sacriel and crew, need to think about moving forward

external map or not, at some point you're gonna know the map pretty much by heart anyway. just knowing the building types is a huge advantage. for example, if I'm playing on a new map, and I see a firehouse, I already know that's the place to go for military loot hopefully they can mix stuff up a little, and have more variety of building types in the stand-alone. as well as more survival features to keep you busy after you know the map by heart -

"survival" got too easy, and it turned into a pvp game the bugs with the tents and vehicles didn't help either. after wasting much time collecting tents, vehicles, and putting loot in them, I lost a bunch to them not saving, servers disappearing, etc. it just became a mess, and I gave up on any long term goals it seems Rocket's determined to make a survival game though. hopefully the stand-alone will be better, and people will have incentive again to help each other out -
I'm not sure I understand hackers.
daze23 replied to Hendrix27's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
well it's hard to say. it's not just people that nuke, mass teleport, etc. the most common thing I saw was people teleporting to me, and then usually walking up and trying to say something funny/stupid. then I would shoot them in the chest with many bullets, and nothing would happen. but that was just the clowns that made it obvious by being very brave (with god mode on). who knows how many other times I died, it was something similar, but they didn't feel like trying to be funny, and just shot me. who knows how many of those questionable firefights where it seems like my enemy takes way too many bullets were hackers. maybe it was lag, maybe I missed... that's the problem with rampant hacking: it gets to the point where you blame anything questionable on it -
<_< man I'm pushing 40. save that shit

is there some reason Sacriel or anyone else is above criticism? can I not voice my opinion about something on an internet message board without being called a "hater"? I'm actually a fan of him and his group. is it strange someone would be critical of something they enjoy? I don't think so. I enjoy DayZ, but there's some parts I'm critical of. does that mean I should go play another game?

CZ550 Estimating Range to Target

oh i see, you don't learn from experience, but you need the shooting range to reverse engineer a formula <_< -

I think you're missing the point if you seriously think script kiddies and hackers are "sociopaths" or future criminals I mean if your goal is to insult them, sure. but I don't think it really gets us closer to the answer as to why it's such a widespread and mainstream problem -

that's what I was thinking. you could use it similarly to the acog, but you're gonna have to learn from experience -
How fast can you get the basic gear?
daze23 replied to Tenderness's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
but you could NEVER find all that in 15 minutes without getting it off a dead body, or out of a tent. I don't think the OP was asking how long it takes if you happen to spawn next to a fully geared dead player, or if you spawn and run directly to your collection of stocked tents -

daze23 replied to Hendrix27's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
yeah, it's only happened to me a few times, but I would never try to act like hacking isn't a major issue in this game I think we're at the point where if you have "never been killed by a hacker" than you are the one that is "lucky". as opposed to people that have been killed by a hacker being "unlucky" sure some people exaggerate about how often it happens to them. but saying it never happens to you doesn't answer the question about why people do hack -
never the less you posted it here and asked people what they thought of it

daze23 replied to Tenderness's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
pretty much. I might fins a DMR in the first deer-stand by Kamenka. other times I got all the way to the NWAF without finding any weapons. I've ran around Elektro only to find a bunch of tin cans or no loot at all. or I might find a body with all the top-tier gear but I would say generally it's around 15-20 minutes -
that was funny. first Sacriel was talking about how he wanted to punch the designer of the map in the face because he ran into an invisible wall while swimming. I had that same issue on Panthera, and I'm not sure if it's intentional design, or just something else, but whatever... then Oshi mentions to the group that the dead body is Sacriel, and the guy says "so he's gonna shoot me in the face with a f-ing sniper rifle and I'm never gonna see it". that comment alone should show that these opinions aren't limited to his thread

let me be clear that I don't "hate" any of you. nor am i saying anything about what you guys do for the community and all that this is a message board where us lifeless mofo's sit around and over-analyze things. and like it or not, you guys are celebrities that have put yourself out there for criticism. welcome to the spotlight

I got down there, and managed to walk out, but I didn't try to get to the 'center' I would go prone, and just move and spin around to try and break your leg
