Not much they can do that they aren't doing already. I can say that I've encountered them less as time goes on. Maybe they get bored and stop playing? There have been suggestions to help identify them like : You've been killed by messages, easier way to see player names and such. But the devs have said that this isn't what the majority of the community would like to see so aside from making it easier to report them there really isn't anything they can share with us on what they are doing that wont alert the hackers. -

This might help you OP: http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/ The picture shows where deaths happen. I strongly believe it reflects the spawn chances around the map and server capacity being 40. With more cities being added, more people need to populate to have consistent interaction.

I honestly think that it might not be put in the actual release of SA. I'm thinking that they will populate the game files with the necessary items to "build bases", and then just let the modders handle how they want it. I have full confidence that there will be vehicles and basic things like tents, barbed wire etc. but the extent of base building will be put on the community to help develop and "mod" the standalone. Am I wrong to think like this?

Speaking of which. This happened to me yesterday, threw a flash bang and stood still until it exploded. Going to stop throwing them except for certain situations where I wont need to move. The advantage of using them is lost if you can't stay mobile in most situations.

As far as "things to do is concerned": are we assuming that they will make base building a part of the game? I haven't found an article it's mentioned in specifically, and in a couple articles the devs talk about private hives and "modding". So the big question is: Will they implement base-building, or just put in the game files and let the modders do what they will? -
Hate to break it to everyone but I agree with Beck. You can spawn south and west now but it seems the chances are much lower that the north east. I'd like to think the devs realize how limited gameplay is at the moment so this will encourage the most PvP and usage of the new map content they are implementing. It's discouraging if spawning wont change from this. But the hope is that the servers increase in size and spawning along the ENTIRE coast so there will be action wherever you go. Until then: You should try and find some other way to play the game other than: loot>berenzino repeat.I would suggest spending time surviving in various parts of the map, it will make contact with other people more exciting. For the OP: The way the spawns work you are going to find the most action in Berezhino/Svet. Novo is literally the worst town for pvp as every spot is open to be sniped from somewhere else, and it's design does not condone building to building hunting/firefights. There are less people in Cherno/Elektro, but still enough to have some decent engagements. NWAF is decent, but not for firefights. It's mostly a hunting ground. If you run into anyone in Zelen, vybor military, or southwest military base those are usually server hoppers trying to get loot.

A ridiculous assumption as I have not the capability or the knowledge to hack; however, I am smart enough to check the dayz map for spawns, then craft a route which enables me to efficiently search for helicopter spawns (credit to mookie for help) whilst server hopping. This I have found in total 3 M4's, all the attachments at every quality, black skull bala, mags upon mags, boxes upon boxes, grenades upon grenades but I have not found an FNX. Really sad because it's a sexy sounding sidearm. Whenever I die with this M4 and go searching for another, you can come with me and I'll show you the route I take. That goes for anyone else too. PM me for my steamid to add. -

1. Off topic. 2. I respect the suggestion. But lets see how they fix the melee combat system as a whole first? I mean there are hit detection problems, desync problems, massive zombie AI/pathing/hitbox issues, and weapon sheathing/unsheating issues. Let's see how these progress in alpha and beta before asking for some type of over the top cosmetics. Wouldn't you like to see a smooth hit detection system in place first? Not randomly pulling out whatever item you have in the 3rd hotbar while meleeing? Having to stop to put away/draw a weapon if you are "spacebar'd" in? Wouldn't you like to see how they are plannign to improve zombie AI first before their arms fall off? -

Hopefully they fix the gun variance and power to properly reflect RL. That way it makes sense searching for higher tier guns because atm an SKS or a mosin will work just fine.

Getting cold after being near fireplace

After you are done with the fireplace. Take the wood out. Then put the fireplace back in your backpack, and store the wood inside of it. Every time you want to move it you have to take the wood out first but you then have a perpetual heat source and thus can wear whatever you want without worrying about freezing. BLACK OUT TIME!!!! -
I've realized the futility of carrying a bunch of things in your backpack. With how much food is around you never need to carry it. You never need to carry drinks. You don't need to carry any supplies if you have a fire axe and a can opener. Your first aid bag carries bandages for you. You don't really need medical supplies past 1 morphine. There should be plenty of space in your bag for a sawed off and a fireplace kit. You can wear anything you want because of this.

This type of mentality baffles me. The game is about to enter it's .50 iteration and the developers have shown some vision and promise. As a result, people are unhappy because it makes loot "rarer" now. Here is a few pieces of information for you: -the "advantage" your talking about is largely cosmetic. You can get an SkS and Mosin without server hopping and going to NWAF. Both of these guns kill extremely fast, there is only a slight difference if using the AK flavors or M4 when PvPing and if this difference is worth it to you, then go run and find one. - Because the only way to respawn loot is to restart the server we have an extremely unfriendly server restart cycle. Because there really isn't much else to do than run and PvP, it's always day time and "friendly" interaction is rarer than unfriendly interaction. Given this, why would you maintain server "loyalty" and not hop? Seems like a stubborn way to play just because you don't like server hoppers. And the main point is how can you not see what the devs are doing. All spawns in between or near Svet - Cherno, civilian airports near these locations. Civilian weapons being added. More military bases in the NW. They are making the map a progression. Spawn on the coast, loot civilian weapons, supplies, food. This will keep you alive. If you want more, head northwest. If you want to server hop when you get there then server hop. When you come back down to the coast to fight, all that loot you spent time server hopping for will be taken by someone with a repeater. Just embrace that the rarity of loot now reflects a larger plan, and not your short sighted vision.

CoD: Chernarus now features.......GOLD GUNS!!!!!!! Do you need to kill a bunch of people to achieve this? no. Do you need to perform retarded tasks over and over again until you unlock this? no. Just walk into a residential barn or any supply building in Chernarus ans VOILA!!!! YOU'VE GOT A GOLD GUN!!!!!! Now when you are hiding in a tree trying to scope someone, a freshie will see your gold gun poking out and sneak up on you to take you out. CONGRATS! -
Firehouses in general have been really strange. There are a lot of posts about the NWAF fire house stairway and breaking legs. I have broken my legs on the second floor of the NWAF when trying to loot. I also sometimes get a flash on my screen in the firehouse stairwell like I've been shot or am breaking a limb but after the flash nothing happens. No status change, nothing. I have yet to notice ruined gear from this. I think the best thing is to just not go up those stairs. There isn't anything game breaking that you need up there. Stay on the first floor!

HYPE!!?!?!?!?!? First time I played the Mod I spawned in Bop (Bor) and it was night. I found a crossbow in a shed, bolts on the shelf. I could hear zombies so I proned and crawled my way past them. They moved around back then. I found myself trapped. I whipped my xbow out and hit one in the arm. He came and ate me. At least 1 part of the prior experience is on the horizon. Stealth! I read something and didn't pay attention to the dates but it said something about zombie AI being tweaked for reduced LoS, hearing, and corner/wall vision. As long as the game is still Daytime PvP fest only this really wont make a difference. But once the loot respawning is worked and night time makes it's way back into Chernarus sneaking will be back!!!
