So you would only just find the server right? You would track them normally too right? You wouldn't ghost him and then kill him and then brag about it afterwards like you accomplished the difficult task of being able to see someone's exact location without doing any actual work to find them right? Anyway, I don't necessarily think that's "what 'twitch' does". It's more like the internet in general. Your online persona is just that, online. The internet desensitizes you since what you can do has actually no bearing on or is indicative of who you are as a person. So people go around, KoS'ing, messing with fresh spawns, cheating, doing whatever they want because it doesn't actually matter on any kind of moral scale. You can argue that it does matter, but it's a video game, in cyberspace, and has no affect on your lives whatsoever. If what happens to a person online affects their life offline, the issue is not with the internet, or the action, or the game....it's with the person that lets something fake and not real affect what is real. Their problem not ours. Because it's fake, and because the internet has made it easy for people to interact, be whoever they want to be and act however they want to act with no social repercussions, you get a group of people who talk shit, troll, act like bad asses. These people without the internet would generally be not accepted socially but because the internet is a space that accepts all there really is no discouragement to acting this way. The sooner you realize that these people have literally 0 affect on you, and you can just laugh at them, the sooner it will no longer bother you. For all you know the guy who streams this type of behavior is actually a decent family man, with a nice job, 2 kids, and a dog in some midwestern suburb somewhere. But the internet allows him to be something else entirely...and twitch lets him show everyone who his online persona is.

Going to complete the first trade ever on TradeZ today after work! Format is a little different than just posting inventories for trade, but it does beat searching 33 pages worth of forum posts. Try it out.

Lock picking from a lockpicking hobbyist
Grundlesmuggler replied to Pokerguy12's topic in General Discussion
Too many variables. Don't make it as simplistic a task as literally ANYTHING was in the mod; however, trying to make it realistic enough for some lockpick snob to approve of...then having to tweak it because some guy can't do it so he wants to just be able to smash through windows... then having to tweak more because the guy who locked the door complained that it got picked while he was offline....then tweak it more because he's now online, but didn't realize you could smash through windows and is complaining...then tweak it because...you get the drift. Lockpicking isn't gamebreaking for enough people to warrant that much attention IMO. Honestly I would rank it below working on fall detection/elevation change movement. Like how ridiculous is it that we aren't athletic enough to run at least 3/4 speed down a slightly steep incline but we can farther an longer than all of the Kenyans combined. -

Anything that is "uninterrupted" animation would be IMO ridiculous. As you should easily be able to cancel the lock pick should you need to, Javier Bardem. -
Why do the majority of players i encounter suck?
Grundlesmuggler replied to drjuanitor's topic in General Discussion
What is there to do other than kill people? Be friends? Hunt boar? Go fishing? Make a fire in the woods? Run around looting bases and not killing anyone? How stale would SA be if that were the majority of how people went about it right now. Once the game increases the content and "things to do" people will be more friendly. -

Not Sure if this has been shared in this thread yet but this guy is making it super easy on us. Check out the below thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/213445-i-created-a-dayz-trading-platform/ http://tradez.sbstn.ca/ Just list everything you have on the left and everything you want on the right and let it flow!!!

Posted some trades. As you can see 2 different have's for the same need. I don't want to completely break your idea, but maybe instead of having users list a whole trade, maybe split it into 2 columns. Have/Want? That way lets say I want an ammo box, and I have multiple offers. I can just go into the "trade" listed -Have ammo box - and submit my offers. So effectively you jump on, check the have list and if you don't see what you want, post your item/s in the "want side". Meanwhile also listing what you "have" to trade. I dunno just spit balling for you. It's your baby after all. Edit: This morning I woke up and realized that you made it so that users would post EVERYTHING they had for trade on one side, and EVERYTHING they wanted on another yes? That way I don't have to list 3 individual trades for what I'm looking for?

Anyone have any tips? Seems like if you throw it you stand still. It's been suggested that I shouldn't have my fists up when throwing but, if using the fire primary button you always bring your fists up. I tried throwing with my "throw" key after pulling the pin, but no explosion went off.

Move after tossing Grenades
Grundlesmuggler replied to Grundlesmuggler's topic in General Discussion
The one I used was badly damaged. So It might have failed. But the others I used before I did that test with my throw button both did explode and neither time I was able to move until about 3 ish seconds after the explosion. -
Not sure if it will apply to the shotgun considering you should saw that bitch off anyway. But I haven't tested it with Ak's or M4's yet. I'm assuming the gun size is the same with or without the attachments so currently no you can't. But it's an interesting idea if they make it take time to put together.

It was just the first thing that came to mind. I will happily actively use this while you are developing. It's interesting to see how the economy will play itself out since there is no standard currency. It will be actual bartering and value variance will be directly correlated to each individual's needs. Can't wait for the robust version.

I don't know much about the differences between the two. Private = more power for the owner? Can someone shed some light?
-
Well the way you are describing it wouldn't be playing, it would be exploiting. If you ACTUALLY "played" at night. You would intrinsically use a flashlight because it was so dark. So the item is useless because you can cheese it, not because it's actually useless.

Amazing idea. And great work so far. I tried signing in but wasn't sure if I was signed in or not. I couldn't see where I could "start" a trade to list. Searching for items was cool but couldn't seem to "find" the ACoG scope, maybe because I don't know how it's listed in your DB. This will be a great addition to the community once it's polished. Take your time man.

So what do you guys mostly find at heli crashes?
Grundlesmuggler replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
It would be nice if they did though right? Then they wouldn't be around to hack. -

Also to the OP: if you use the "search" function on the DayZDB map it could help you. It will relegate markers on the map to where that item has spawn chances. I had a pristine M4 for about 9 days with a pristine ACOG site, only to lose it to a death inside of the red 2 story building in Cherno behind the fireplace. I was told that the room with the TV in it would just randomly kill you if you got too close to the TV sometimes so I went into the other room. I spent the previous 10 minutes clearing the high spots in the city, as well as the market and the houses on my way to this red house. When I crouch walked into the corner near the window and looked out, anything that had an angle on me from a higher vantage point was clear. I then was instantly and silently killed. My leg was painful then I was dead. No gunshots or anything. It took me about a week to get the M4 with a pristine ACOG. And now currently I am holding a worn acog for my next m4. It takes time. -

"Wrong" is a subjective term. If he believes that wishing bodily harm to people who cheat is an acceptable thing, then to him it will be. The people beheading certainly do not think they are doing anything wrong, and I'm sure on some level cheaters and hackers believe this as well. The relevance that holds to people will be different for each one. So to assume that how he feels about cheaters is wrong because it's not subjectively as serious of a notion as beheading people for whatever reason you see fit can be seen as "wrong" as his idea. -
And then quit after 10 hours of running around doing nothing but looking at your own gear? Lofty goal there to just hoard. Your opinion is your opinion but I would bet the majortiy of players would beg to differ about the "game".

Devs, please priority 1 this ASAP. Stop production on everything else AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!!!!

Sounds like a bunch of minecraft inspired ideas to me. Play the mod again and then talk about crafting. A lot of great ideas/implementations there already that would be an easy port for modders of SA.

Your premise is spot on, but if you look at the data they gathered, literally 80% of the deaths are still NE.
