One simply cannot survive without them.

Authenticity should always be an important factor. Would you find an elephant in the Arctic for example? One should attempt to be as realistic to the climate and region as possible.

Does it matter? Adding new colors should not be dependent on whether or not it has a downside. The primary point against the addition of new colors is "realism", which in of itself is a ridiculous argument to make, as why shouldn't we allow people to spray paint their gear any color? Not allowing it would be less realistic, as for some reason the only two colors we can find out there are black and green, when realistically there would be other colors. The fact that it makes you stand out doesn't matter. As I have already said, there are times where you WANT to stand out as not to be shot by your comrades on accident. Although having ALL spray paint colors have negative effects on weapons would be cool, it shouldn't be a requirement for new colors to be added. -
The Communitys Official Vehicle/Vehicle Idea Thread Version 1.5 (Now with constantly changing polls!)

Soviet Gaz-46 amphibious car-thing It'd have to be really rare, as it's an ancient beast, but it'd be cool. It'd be able to drive on land, and float on water with assistance directing it. -
This idea goes against the very core of DayZ. The idea of being able to buy equipment from an NPC through the use of an in-game currency system is a terrible idea. Trading items and gear between players is good and fine, but having any sort of in-game currency(Other than say, worthless Chernarussian cash that serves no real purpose other than having something to burn in a fire) and having an NPC sell you items? That is a terrible idea.

Hah. Good old Republic Commando. Sev was awesome. -
The Mosin, SKS, and M1 Garand have been out of service for a LONG time. They aren't in use in any armed forces. They might be Ex-military, yes, but does it matter? They are in civilian hands now, and it isn't like they are pimped out assault rifles, 9,001 round magazine, fully automatic weapons.

Underground Sections/Areas of Chernarus; Metro System, Caves

Yes. I do, myself, enjoy the whole Eastern European thing, but I'd like to see far more industrialized areas of it. Factories, nuclear plants and cities all over the place. -
Indeed, indeed.

Underground Sections/Areas of Chernarus; Metro System, Caves

I know lots of former Soviet countries have huge sprawling Metro systems. Stalin was big on them, as such you can find them not just in Russia, but other places like the system under Ukraine. Not sure if it would fit for Chernarus though. I think the urban areas need to be more developed. -
Nope. To quote the Dread Pirate Roberts, they are terribly comfortable.

I just want more styles of balaclavas, and more gas masks.

I want to be able to kill someone in battle, and use their blood to paint my equipment as a trophy of my conquests. I'm not crazy, I promise. -
Sweet. Just sounds like a great idea.

Solution: Make paint really, really, really hard to find. Honestly, the fact that people will troll and use bright colors doesn't seem like too good a reason not to go through with it. Really, I think most of the colors would have a slightly worn shade, somewhat drab. Probably not like Hot Pink. -
I agree totally. The apocalypse should have no rules, except the ones you can enforce via copious amounts of weaponry. I do, however, have this dream of carving out my own nation in the Post-Apocalyptic lands of Chernarus, and establish my own evil secret police to keep the people in line. Those who will not submit to my rule will be shot. Those who break the rules of my nation will be shot/fed to zeds.

But there are other colors that will work as well. Honestly, I think letting people choose to be a walking bulls-eye would be fine. It just makes them easier to spot for snipers. Other than gray, there are situations where other colors might be of use. Camouflage isn't always a top priority. Sometimes visibility matters. After all, friendly fire isn't, and you don't want to accidentally kill your comrades for mistaking them for someone else in close quarters environments -

As has been stated before by several people, there are situations where other, brighter colors would work better for camouflage. In cities, grays might be better than greens for hiding yourself. -

Yes. It could work as an excellent deterrent, considering that you still aren't free until you wash out your clothes, even if you are wearing a gas mask. And yeah, other gas masks, lots of other gas masks, would be nice.
-
Other types of gas would be better for the purpose you initially described. Perhaps Chlorine gas.
-
If you mean quality by how damaged it is, then yes. If you mean quality by how well-made the mask is, not so much. Sure, in pristine condition a high quality mask is usually better than a mass produced one. However, if the filter is expired it won't work at all. If it's damaged, it's worthless. A low quality mask that is functional will still protect you as long as it is rated for whatever kind of chemicals you are handling.

I'd rather have fast zombies. Slow zombies aren't threatening, and they aren't a threat. Fast zombies are much more intimidating, and much more of a threat to your life. You'd be terrified if you had a horde of fast zombies behind you. Slow zeds? Not so much.

As stated before, one does not simply use a rag for Mustard Gas. You'd have to be wearing a gas mask, and have your skin covered. In addition, the gas mask has to functional, with a filter that has not expired. Non-lethal agents and agents that only kill when inhaled would be far easier to counter.
