Would you like to see a snow zone and a radiation zone?
Askelon replied to HEV's topic in Suggestions
I'd rather have a seasonal based weather type thing, instead of having a 24/7 snow zone. Radiation has been discussed before. The general consensus was that it'd be fine, but ONLY if it had its own map instead of Chernarus. -
Wallets and Player Identification - Dog-Tags and Russian Ruble -
Askelon replied to TrampledByTurtles's topic in Suggestions
Yes. They use the "Russian Ruble". I'm stating that the other former Soviet nations use either ordinary Rubles or their own currency. I suggest that Chernarus do the same, and either use the Ruble(Not the Russian Ruble which is used in Russia), or their own unique currency. -
Sounds good to me. What do you mean "expanable"?
-
I'm talking about what he said here. But, as stated, it was a deliberate design choice not to have it, and I completely disagree with its addition now.
-
My point is still that there shouldn't be an easy identifier for players. They should always have to guess, they should fear other players and question their motives. To make an easy on-sight way to tell would be dull, and take away that component from player interactions.
-
No. Part of the game is the ambiguity, the tension, the fear. The ability to just tag yourself removes part of that. Even if you DID add such a system, Bandits would just label themselves as heroes as an easy way to gain someone's trust before stabbing them in the back. It won't help whatsoever, and I don't think it should be added at all.
-
I do agree with you there. I'm a-okay with adding these features if a player gets to pick them of their own volition.
-
The less skilled shouldn't get a handicap on those who are more skilled and lucky. I, as stated, highly disagree with aging, other than perhaps hair growth. Needing a "skill" to do something is also a concept I disagree with. Anyone should be able to do anything, with at most getting better at a task with practice. I'd mess with a grandpa smoking a cigarette if he was attacking me. Now, a grandpa smoking a cigarette with his chest pinned full of medals, with notches scratched into his AK numbering in the dozens is something I'd be afraid of.
-
I have many, MANY, problems with your suggestions. Except for smoking, I'm down for that. As you said yourself "people won't get attached to their characters". That's not the way most of us, so I believe(I don't speak for everyone.), want to go with this. People should be attached to their characters, it gives death more of a meaning. The less you want to do away with your character, the better. Aging would be a problem. I'm sure people would end up killing themselves simply because they aren't fit enough to survive. Body type, I also disagree with. What you described aren't really body types at all, they are classes. Classes shouldn't be a thing. Body types would be more like weight and build. Example, large, medium, small; thin, fat, muscular, normal etc. That would effect simply how you would act physically, nothing else. I'm fine with cigarettes, cause it'd make my character look badass. I do, also, believe there are less common cigarettes that aren't addictive, and don't have all those chemicals poured into them. Still unhealthy though.

I agree wholeheartedly, Minion. Having weather temperature synced to season would be a plus as well.

Wallets and Player Identification - Dog-Tags and Russian Ruble -
Askelon replied to TrampledByTurtles's topic in Suggestions
Love this. I'd like to have a choice, as you describe. When I can start to play, my character will be a former ChDKZ rebel, so I'd like to use dogtags for that. I don't think we should have Russian Rubles though. I think Chernarus should have its own currency, or one used by the other former Warsaw Pact nations. Another thing, I don't think there should be different coins dependent on whether you are a bandit, survivor or hero. Otherwise, great idea! -
You might be able to find Tranquilizer guns near forests perhaps? Hunters might use them if they weren't concerned with killing, or perhaps if there were wildlife researchers or something that were in the area during the outbreak, but that seems unlikely. After all, there was a civil war going on even before the outbreak, and unless they were studying something really specific, I doubt any researchers would be in the area.

Like Chaingun said, if you already know how to do something, you shouldn't have to "hit action on this book to be able to do it." While I'd be fine with doing that or simply doing an action a lot might make your character more efficient at a task, a person shouldn't have to do things like that if they know what to do to begin with.
-
I think a skill system, or a system that forces you to read books to be able to do stuff is a no-no. If there was to be a skill system, it would be based on practice. Books should have information on how to do tasks, which can be helpful, but if you already know how to do something you shouldn't need a book to tell you.

Pet zeds...... Yesssssssss. When I create my evil empire, I will throw prisoners in a dungeon full of handcuffed zombies. Or even better! Handcuff prisoners to zeds and watch how it works out.

Put in Helicopters, Humvee's with grenade launchers, and mounted machine guns

If you headshot the driver, the car will probably swerve off to one direction and crash or just keep going straight that direction, not stopping, giving you time to run away(Depending on what happens to the corpse and stuff.) -
Player Temperature when Inside a Vehicle
Askelon replied to jamiereid_wow@hotmail.co.uk's topic in Suggestions
Yes, when vehicles are out, they should definitely have vehicles help with temperature. If you could find some way to help heat a broken down vehicle, then that should even protect you from the elements. -
1)Haven't played DayZ SA yet(Won't work on my PC, but I own it), so no opinion. 2)Sounds good. 3)Sounds good, something to be done later when all the big things are done. 4)To do what? 5)No opinion 6)Not sure what you mean, but I know Crossbows can't use arrows, and Bows can't use bolts. 7)No opinion 8)Sure. 9)No, but perhaps make it so they can be dyed or something? 10)Don't see how gloves would affect your aim. 11)Doesn't matter to me. I'd be fine without it. If you did go with this, make them run down and in poor condition, obviously abandoned for a while. 12)Totally down for this, customization is always good. 13)Sounds good. 14)Sounds good, I think that is actually planned. 15)I like this. 16)No opinion. 17)Sounds good to me. 18)No opinion.

I'd like to see the STG44, and the PPSH 41
-
Yes. One could always RP having bad eyesight if they wanted to do so. I do agree that if we made any sort of class-ish thing you spawned with, people would kill themselves until they got what they wanted.

Duct tape is the greatest multi-purpose tool ever. This is a great idea.

More Spray Pain Color Options For Latter Please! :)
Askelon replied to Deathlove's topic in Suggestions
People will use them for the "lulz", but it doesn't matter. People will always find ways to troll, and it doesn't mean we shouldn't add items in just because a few people will use them to troll. I'm not going to repeat all the reasons why there are situations where CAMOUFLAGE is LESS IMPORTANT than VISIBILITY in said situations, or for reasons already stated by others, as I have said it several times already. People might do this stuff IRL. In real life, in an apocalypse, I doubt people would be so quick to shoot eachother in the face on sight, or at least, not as quickly as they do now. I doubt people would do a lot of things that are done in DayZ. Does that stop them? No. The fact that the only two colors right now are for camouflage is highly unrealistic. What would be realistic is a lot less people with military grade gear, making do with whatever they have. -
The game seems too survivor/bandit heavy, I have afew suggestions
Askelon replied to LLY's topic in Suggestions
The zombies are infected humans, not undead. Cutting up a corpse and wearing it wouldn't help you whatsoever most likely. The idea of having lots of zombies to force players to cooperate has been talked about numerous times, and it is a good idea I suppose. It still won't stop banditry though, and it shouldn't, as it adds dynamic to the game. I do believe Weather is already a thing(Can't play DayZ due to the fact that my PC is not only broken, but needs to be upgraded). -
Creating a End-Game for DayZ - How to reduce BanditsS

Yes. I also believe the best way to bring KoS and banditry down is through having shitloads of Zombies. -
Creating a End-Game for DayZ - How to reduce BanditsS
Askelon replied to gilgamesh333's topic in Suggestions
I have numerous problems with this. Vehicles are already planned., and will be added whenever they are added. Limited amounts of building, I believe, is also planned. I strongly disagree with the addition of "insanity". It's been proposed before, and all it does is force players into a playstyle, which goes against the core of what DayZ is.
