Catch me rocking a white check shirt all day! Kaki vest and a baseball cap and BOOM! closest thing to the "Hero" skin from the mod you can get. Sure everyone runs around in full camo, but it's all about each persons playstyle. Personally I love the courier bag over all else. You only carry the bare minimum, food, ammo, 2 bandages but you don't need anything else at this stage of development. .... ...... .................. Really? ........... Really? ........... Wow........ wait, really? You're gonna get so nitpicky about having tactical, super-duper, fancy fuck, modded to shit guns..? IN THE APOCALYPSE?! I could understand this type of customization in say.... Call of Duty, or Battlefield, or any modern FPS where the character you play as has 100% unlimited access to gun mods, but THIS is RURAL post-apocalyptic eatern Europe. I think the way to go is a universal weapon mod system, not item specific like you want for your precious M4. Wider range of optics would be nice, but available to all guns using a universal mounting system. Laser sights are good if you cant aim and want to be seen pointing your gun at stuff, good idea if universal, shit idea if only for m4. Foregrip, ok, that's a good idea. Grenade launcher? Make it rare as hell, like more rare than a Unicorn that shits gold. Reasons why the 5.56 suppressor might not work on the AUG are 1: Different barrel connection types, 2:AUG is chambered in 9mm, not 5.56. Not all barrels accept supressors, so having supressor ready barrels on all guns in game makes no logical sense. Sorry if you feel as if I'm picking on you, but it seems to me like you're not reading your comments before you post them, or that you think this game is something other than DayZ.

Have the Devs even played .50?? They probably played on their private servers, but do they play on the public ones? If they did they would find out within 3 minutes of playing that the game in unplayble. ZERO loot anywhere. No food, no water, no clothes, no weapons for protection, nada, zilch, nothing. All of those coast spawn are either people dying of starvation, dying from zombies- on purpose, jumping off buildings because there is no food, clothing or any loot in that town, or getting other bambies to kill them in hopes of a better spawn. That one guy at Green Mountain probably got spawn killed by a server hopper looting the jail. Maybe he was AFK while a zombie ate him. :) I don't know if devs read these... I hope to god they do. I know it's experimental, I know there are issues, I know I know I know, but ya'll need to STOP making excuses for yourselves. Items do not respawn, fresh spawns have about a 2% chance at surviving longer than 15 minutes... like.... what the fuck guys? It's not playable. It's not fun. It needs to be addressed, like NOW. Put horticulture on HOLD. Put vehicles on HOLD, put everything that doesn't have to do with server architecture, respawn mechanics, and persistence on fucking HOLD! You want people to test your game in open Alpha and provide feedback right? Well I hope someone is reading this over at Bohemia because I have the solution to your persistence problems; see below. To fix persistence related issues: Make items despawn after 15-30 minutes of being on ground when dropped from inventory. Have CONTAINERS (IE: tents, boxes, vehicles) hold items and have those containers be persistant, NOT items on ground. Have the server wipe ground items upon restart like days of old. If you're worried about server hoppers looting on restarts then HERE is that solution: Make servers spawn with an initial low count of items, then as time continues have more and more items spawn thereby encouraging people to STAY on a server and roam the map looking for gear and other people. A note on Vehicles: I heard rumors about having a "global economy" for DayZ. IE: certain # of guns, vehicle parts, etc. on the hive/server, thus "Promoting player interaction and trading" It won't. It won't. It won't. The ONLY thing that will do in encourage server hopping and remove the immersion factor of the game that ya'll are working so hard to acheive, as well as make it nie impossible to fix a vehicle once you do find it. In the real world we don't server hop. If I got a flat tire and didnt have a spare then I'm walking my happy little ass to the next town ahead to find one, I'm not crossing dimenssional planes of existence to repair my vehicle in real life and I shouldn't have to do it in a game who's MAIN focus is on survival and immersion to simulate an APOCALYPSE. "I don't like this apocalypse... let's go to that one with all our stuff instead, it's called Pineback Mountain" A note on Chernarus: Stop adding cities. Stop adding new towns. Stop adding clutter to the map. I LOVED the empty wild expanse of the north in the Mod, now I hate it. I can't run 5 minutes without seeing a new city. This mapwas supposed to be a RUAL area, but with all these new cities and shit it's taking away from that and making it feel more like a neo-subarban-esque mini country. With a vehicle you would drive through 3-5 small towns within 5 minutes of driving... I don't know what "rural" areas ya'll have been visiting or basing your ideas off of but I don't fear the map anymore like I used to. Leaving a city used to mean "Are you prepped? Cause there's no garuntee we're gonna make it the 3 kilometers to the next city... you better be fucking ready man." And now it's "WEEEE RUn run city city, OHHH there's another lil city! NEATO, better check it out!" Please leave the south alone... Don't add any more towns or cities down there. Make the current ones better yes of course, but PLEASE don't take away the country side. It's so pretty and the cities are so laggy and not attractive right now. It's really interesting to see that Devs are collecting data on players and various things of that nature, I just hope they use them for good and not for evil. Why, yes it is fascinating that there is a large spread of "unique" deaths across the west and north west. Who would think that people would go out there? Who would think that someone would kill that random guy at Kamenka Base? Who plays DayZ? Sorry, just had to :P This data though would give some very important feedback as to what areas are highly trafficked, where to place loot, where to place vehicles, where to provide pre-existing farms (keep the bambies alive if cities are completely empty) etc :) I still stay hopefull for DayZ and anticipate great things. A few of my friends have given up hope, and I would be wrong to say their reasons were unjustified, but... I beleib. I second this. Starvation takes DAYS. Dehydration takes DAYS. Bleeding out sometimes takes DAYS. Hypothermia CAN happen in minutes (Like in the game) but only if exposed to sub-zero temperatures with no protection. Not saying make them take days, but how about an hour or two or three? Have our character only say something every 5 minutes or so. Maybe add sound effects instead of text :D Stomach grumbles with the animation of hand on stomach, coughing sounds and covering mouth is sick, panting or dry sounding breathing when thirsty, etc etc. I'm sure it will be implemented, or something to that end will be. I would hate to see blocks upon blocks of text when the final release comes.

Hard to transfer sarcasm over text :p haha I'm not concerned with the AUG or SCAR or any gun by itself. It's the mentality that these guns have on the FPS genre that concerns me about, again, this Survival game. No doubt that not every soldier would escape, not at all! :) But there would be airlifts, convoys and such leaving the area if a retreat was called, so my guess is a lot of them would escape, though some would be gunned down by looters, who in turn take the soldiers gun, and even more would be turned into zombies by sickness. So guns would be on the ground yes, but hopefully in areas of extreme ammounts of zombies. My main point is to make military gear difficult to get, extremely difficult to get, so much so that you would rather play without it. Just a personal opinion. If everyone's running around with AUGs and AKs and M4s, why don't we just go play CoD? BUT again... it's alpha, so all of our words carry no weight on the "game" as it's not even a game yet, it's a dev build. :p

Thanks for hating. :) I am aware of the added civilian weapons such as the pump shotty and rossi, but I fear you are missing the point I was trying to make. I was not bitching or crying about people having better guns than me. I am meerly concerned with the "realism" factor that this game is pushing so hard for and I may even be mistaken as to exactly how militarized the devs are wanting to make Chernarus. I wasn't trying to say "Fuck all this military shit! get rid of it", not at all. I was just wanting a push for a more civilian based weapon system that did have military guns, but that those military grade guns were extremely difficult to find, ya know kinda like the real apocalypse. The Dev's would have to set a time line for when this game is supposed to take place in order to get spawns right I think. With the initial outbreak, yes tons of military presence, but then as the outbreak spreads, the military would fall back taking most of their items with them, unless completely over-run without a chance to escape, then it would make sense that military grade weapons would be in that over-run area, but guarded by hoards of zombies. But this timeline I speak of, I think, is quintesstential for determining how much loot is on the map, regardless of civ or mil. The way it looks to me now is something like 1-2 years after the military abandoned the area, hence the rust on all military gear, broken walls and general unkeptness of these military locations. IF and only if this 1-2 year after was to be true, then realistically there would be almost nothing due to the past 365+ days of survivors looting these areas before our characters even existed. But that's a whole other matter. haha I do enjoy the variety of guns, and I know that with more time will come better features and explanations of changes that the Devs make. Dac, I'm not scared about other peoples guns. I'll take my mosin and LRS over any gun any day. Hell, I've killed plenty of people with a single chambered .22LR and a headshot, so what gun the other person has doesn't matter, I'm more concerned about the overall impact these multiple military rifles will have on people's mentality ("I can't play this game without my pimped out AKM") and the overall balance of survivability on this survival game. Cause let's face it, once you get a 30+ capacity weapons you are zombie proof ATM. Not trying to bash or upset anyone, just voiceing a different opinion and viewpoint on the topic of weaponry.

Agreed! I know all these COD and BF fan boys want the AUG and SCAR and M60 and 50 cal snipers, but I hope that this is NOT the way DayZ is going. It's rural Russia (or Russia-esque) so having these NATO military guns makes no sense to me. (I know that particular militaries have these guns and that there IS a military presence in Chernarus, but 85% of the place is rural farm land/civilian making this influx of military grade weaponry head scratching for me.) I know the Dev team is hard at work during this build with security (YES! Although I will miss killing these hackers..) and for future vehicles and server stability, but how about introducing more civilian items/weapons in the next updates. IE: 30.06 rifle - bolt or semi auto. .270 or a .243 hunting rifle. Glock 9m. Or a Compound hunting bow . BRING BACK THE Enfield #Dinnerbell. different scopes Not just a "Long Range" but say a 2x or 4x fixed scope that is usable on multiple weapons since most guns have a universal scope mounting bracket on top (.22 and the CR75 carbine both have rails but no options for sights) Bi-Pods BACK on mosins and other sniper rifles! I'm unaware of why they were taken off, maybe someone complained that they were "too accurate" but I hope to see them return so I can hit my 1kilometer shots again. (I understand trying to keep a balanced playing field between people with good computers vs bad computers... but really, I'm scared if this "balance based" system continues it will hinder the potential of what this game could become. I'd like to see the "Half person @ 800 meters" thing go away and do a full render of said person at any and every distance. I feel it would add extensively to the realism, albeit with a drawback to crappy computers.) I know DayZ isn't the game for everyone and it isn't trying to be either which is why I love it so much, so regardless of if my input is used or not I at least threw it out there. Been playing since before you could vault or roll in Vanilla mod and will continue to play until infinity.
