I would say Chernarus is like a mix of Czech Republic/Russia. The location is based on a real region in the northern Czech Republic, but the names of all the cities are in Russian, and in some cases are even named after real towns/cities in Russia.

I can't believe there are actually a lot of Yes votes on this poll. When I saw this thread I thought "haha no way anyone is going to want that" but I was unfortunately surprised. Really guys ._.? It would not add to the hardcore survival realism, it would just be annoying and it just doesn't fit in with the mood of DayZ.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, a lot of these suggestions are just way too over the top for DayZ, which is supposed to be a hardcore survival game. Scuba diving? Sharks? Underwater pistols? The body of water surrounding Chernarus's south and east coasts is just a wide section of a river so I don't think that would make any sense at all. Same with a lot of suggestions that go against the survival aspect. Jumping out of planes, rappeling down buildings, etc is just pure action game stuff and doesn't fit DayZ. I do like your enthusiasm and brainstorming there though, and some suggestions like duffel bags for carrying stuff and more soviet weaponry are good ideas.

Isn't Novo already a huge city? It's bigger than Cherno and Elektro combined. Weird how people still call it a new "town", expectations are too high. For the game's engine, Novo is a huge accomplishment even if it can still be very laggy.
