Beastly weapons I give you that, but would not DayZ be better with more of civilian grade weapons? I understand that in USA many folks are pretty much armed like commandos, but in Europe or I'd wager in Russia as well, folks have more of hunting rifles, shotguns and pistols rather that uber sniping rifles and machine guns. You can object that people could scavange these mil grade weapons from abandoned military bases and dead soldiers,true enough. Still I feel it would be kinda "better" for the spirit of game if civilian grade weapons were far far more common then the likes of AS50, L85 with thermal optics or machine guns. But anyway it's just my feeling as a fan of The Walking Dead TV series :)

Why not to make a single screenshot to spice up your stories? That way it would not seem so much as a bedtime story.

Strange and I thought that if you wear camo or ghillie, you will not get hero skin. Another bug is that when you get hero skin, you will lose your backpack so better put it down before giving the last transfusion which would give you 5000 humanity. And be prepared that after each relog humanity counter will show only zero no matter what is the reality.

I honestly doubt it. Running near Elektro or Cherno gets you shot at almost everytime and almost on any server (populated ones). Not speaking about NWA or Stary or even Balota, those are thunderdomes often as well. Hell I got killed even running through woods near Myshkino and strolling near deer stand is risky as hell too. Maybe your poll was reversed and you ment that 35% of gamers do not shoot on sight? :)

You should have probably avoided contact with armed survivor and since you are wearing bandit towel, you can't expect much mercy. After my experience with bandits, the worst one was when I was bandaging bandit who begged me to do it and then ofc he shot me to head 3x times, I would have most likely killed you as a precaution. You could have found some weapon and stalk me and kill me, so why risc it? On the other hand you dont have that low humanity, so it is possible you were just defending yourself which can not be checked ingame anyway..... It is a tough choice to trust people in this game and more so those who wear mark of shame (bandit towel).

Put it however you like, positioning specificaly (hospital roof) and !then! hopping on hi-pop server is kinda cheap in anycase. Or do you think your victims, be it bandit or survivor, would be happy knowing he had far less chance of spotting you since you magically appeared on the roof from thin air? This whole Startrek teleporting / ghosting is killing the game almost the same way as hacking.

And why would you gather on Elektro hospital's roof I'd like to ask? Was it because you planned to start shooting folks after you hopped to hi-pop server? If you wanted to be murderers then atleast have the balls to walk into Elektro and climb that ladder all while being on hi-pop server.

His gameplay vid atleast started nice discussion and it was fresh in a sense that his vid was not of bushwooking with hacked Thermal AS50 north of cherno / elektro. Realising this I had to give him beans ASAP :) Have them my kind hermit.

Kinda hated how he killed that unarmed guy at beach after ordering them to roll and "oing" for him. If he is not hacker (one can never be sure) then hat off for engaging bigger and well armed groups. Far better vid then the usual bushwookie AS50 rampage north of Electro / Cherno.

I consider killing dude with hacked weapons a good deed (UZI SD, HK G36 etc).... edit: somehow missed people mentioning this already but what the heck, I agree

Yea I believe such dangerous gameplay is far more rewarding then just hoard weapons and vehicles and basicaly never to use them because you are affraid of losing them. One tip, before you bandage or blood transfusion anybody, tell them to drop their gun or put hatchet on toolbelt. This will drasticaly improve your chances of surviving while maintaining friendly / hero gameplay :-). Ofcourse if we were in real apocalypse, I would probably hid in the middle of a large forest and avoid people like a plague, but luckily, DayZ is just a game :).

This vid is like introduction of your avatar in DayZ :). I like the fact that you dont have rifle, it somehow makes it feel more realistic, like that you did not have luck enough to find it (I know, it got lost in water). I think many people tried to play lone hermit hiding in the woods,but for most it gets boring pretty fast. On the other hand this might be the most sucessfull way of surviving if such shit happened in real life. Nowadays I mostly roam south, Cherno and Electro, interact with people (yes I die a lot but it does not bother me that much) and I play good guy (have hero skin and 10K humanity and rising). For me the best stuff in DayZ is to fighting bandits, taking chances and talk to people before shooting and such. Ofc I dont have uber leet, but I am pretty fine with winchester or some AKM anyway.

More incentives to group up so that the senseless frag fest would ease a bit. I'm all for some lonewolfing sociopaths axing / shooting people, but when such behavior represents 90% of gamers, then something is pretty bad.

Darn playing DayZ with your son must be super cool. My son is just 1,5 year old so he will play PC games with me no sooner then 4-5 years and I guess at that age I should not allow him to play FPS anyway. Oh well, he will grow up one day and we will have our father-son game session in maybe DayZ 3 or such :)

I would also love more civilian weapons, so smaller calibre semi-auto hunting rifles and shotguns. Also a bit more pistols would not hurt (oh wait..). More shotguns definitely, mostly those pump action and please fix 2 barrel shotty, you can't damn aim through iron sights with it and also inventory ammo management is pain with these 2 shot piles (devs should add ammo bandolier for shotty ammo!!). We have some shotguns already, I know, but these things are too damn rare for me! I always find some Lee Enfield or AK/AKM before good ole Remingthon so I would suggest that places down south, that spawn weapons, should spawn more shotguns then AK/AKM/M4's. When we strive for a bit of realism then we should realise, that in apocalypse not everybody would be military vet stockpiled with high grade military weapons and tech. Pump action shotty or even damned 9mm pistol would be a treasure and more common sight then AS50 and machine guns. And big yes for adding of bow as somebody said. Would be fun if the range & penetration of shot depended on how long you hold the trigger before letting the arrow fly.

I have hero skin as well and I love it. Some of my friends make jokes about it, that I am as a beacon in the woods, but I dont care. I roam mostly down south where the bandits and people in danger are. Up till recently I was not shooting unarmed bandits, but I think I will start to do it. Was patching up one bandit in elektro market, he begged me for it and ofc he shot me in the head while I was mending his wounds. Can't say I was 100% surprised, I just wanted to give that dude benefit of doubt and since he talked to me, I took the risc...and died. Then again few dayz later one survivor axed me to death straight after I gave him blood transfusion so hard to tell whos ok and who is sociopathic killer. Normal survivors (without towel head) I approach peacefully but cautiously. So I start talking to them but I try to hide partialy behind something or move left right to make it harder for them to headshot me. What is the big problem are people in ghillies and camo clothes since it hides their bandit head. Can somebody confirm that you still hear heartbeat if you aim via ironsight towards bandit with low humanity? I really dont want to shoot at sight, even after playing like 4 months and dying so many times usually being shot to the back. Oh and I think that hero skin should be harder to obtain and that humanity should NOT regenerate to 2500 on its own. This makes obtaining hero skin too easy... EDIT: Rocket should really fix that bug when you lose your backpack upon turning into hero, very annoying.

I might be sucky player but I tend to die zombies recently. They often knock me out with 1 hit, then eat me alive. Or my friend accidentaly bails out of moving vehicle and breaks his leg, I hastily apply morphine to him and zombies manage to kill me just when I finish mending him. Or when there is a shoot out that drawns a lot of zombies, they tend to make situation harder since you have to deal both with enemy player as well as constantly spawning zombies...that can one shot you to coma as well... Anyway I believe we will get more zombies for standalone since Rocket himself said that standalone will be far less demanding on computing powers of our CPU's hence servers might host around 100 players and I bet that we will see more zombies in the same spawn wave as well. resume: there is quite many situations when zombies are threat even when some players keep saying they are completely harmless

I think I am not the only one who finds highly unrealistic that ghillie suit makes your backpack dissapear even if you have it. What if you could NOT wear ghillie with backpack bigger then lets say 12 slot? Think about it, you get ghillie to be less visible, but there should be a trade off and that would be less carrying space for you. Some hardcore people might even say that you should be able to wear only 6slot czech pouch, but I am more forgiving and would allow atleast 8 slots and maybe 12 slots,but no more! :-). The other way around would be that when wearing ghillie,backpack would be shown normally as when you have starting skin. As it is now, the ghillie is too unrealistic since it hides every backpack even gigantic Coyote backpack, Alice or Czech backpack, which kinda seems against the spirit of this game/mod. I understand that 99% of bushwookies will disagree, but that's expectable since it would make their camping hours less enjoyable.

If it was allowed only to use smaller backpacks with ghillie,it would not make them usefull, but bushwookies would need to make more carefull preparations before nesting under the tree for hours. Choices, it makes game more interesting...

If you both had steam version, adding friend is really good thing :-). A bit sad to lose a dude who was friendly and cool to play with :-(.

Nice seeing people not murdering anyone on sight. I've also experienced that bug when guy, upon spawning on beach, had bandit scarf but it dissapeared like 5 - 10 mins later. Btw last bandit I tried to help headshoted me while I was bandaging him, so no more help to bandits from my side. Then again I got chopped by axe by non bandit player after I gave him transfusion so its hard to tell,whos friend or foe.

Yea that would be also viable option far better that having ghillie and invisible backpack.

I think that Rocket has already stated that he will expand upon factions and if so, he will have to do something about identification be it armbands, headgear or camo patterns. But yeah, for mod armbands would do perfectly.

Yea many good things in real life have some drawback. You like sport cars? Then you have to live with small trunk and less/no space at back seats. You want to conceal yourself under the tree? Why not,but dont expect to be carrying huge backpack filled with tons of stuff. They should also add stamina to disallow sprinting for hours and some kind of encumbrance system,so if you carry AS50 and M240 at the same time, you can not run like a rabbit. But no, some people like it CODish ie easy way....but lets hope that Rocket will not yield to this kind of people. You say it like it's a bad thing :-)

I think that we are ok with TrackIR for the moment. Also this Oculus Rift is not very good for people with glasses. But yea, no harm if they implement it in future but I would hate if this Rift thingie implementation would delay release.
