You are a funny dude. Lacking any real arguments, you came up with your fantasy, that tank is not a tank, and to give your stupid post any credibility, you then continue to call me "a carebear". Oh boy, they really did a bad job on you in the school, didn't they? Or you have not finished your high school and there is a hope for you yet. Anyway keep on flexing your e-muscles, maybe somebody will fall for it as unlikely that might be :lol:

You would need to quote it, because I've read majority of what Rocket wrote and he always defended their engine. Also to change engine now, would mean waiting like 2 more years....who would endure that? Plus if they succeed in replacing renderer (looking good so far), fix zombie pathing (also looks promising) is there really a need for engine switch? I am for engine switching....for DayZ sequel, if that ever happens. -

Devs have a lot of possibilities to fix a lot of bad stuff from mod. Stuff like AS50 being able to be accurately hipfired thus used as SKS, which was wrong (true story). Will they mange? That remains yet to be seen although so far it does not look that optimistic (weird weapon accuracy, attachment mumbo jumbo etc). I agree that server hopping for loot is BIG issue. One that I am not sure Devs will managed to fix. That was another reason why I liked private hives so much. No ghosting, no hopping for loot = good times. And thanks for kinda supporting adding of Vz.58, I appreciate it. -

Well some folks like their AK like this for example. While I generaly like the classic look a lot more, one can't argue that some attachments can make the gun handling more pleasant (in real life). Ofc I would not expect that rather poor East block country (even fictional) would have heavily modded AK's in their armament, but what do I know. edit: Ok Katana67 beat me to it. -

Personally I am still kinda against adding of .50 cals since I doubt Devs would manage to make them more realistic so almost not possible to fire effectively from any other position then prone or when braced against something. Lately Torchia kinda broke my heart by saying, that they do not consider adding of Sa vz.58 to the game, since it fits the same role as AKM and does not look distinctive enough. I could understand that creating it now would not be a priority, but surely it would be good to have wider variety of the same calibre & role weapons right? So I hope, that they could add more rare calibers & cartridges & weapons later in development. -
I think that once we can craft crossbow arrows (bolts?) , then the xbow becomes suddenly a good weapon! Also, surely, once majority of loot is introduced, there will be item rarity rebalancing and you will have greater chance to find a xbow rather then pimped out M4. I'm glad some players are considering using the crossbow! Next patch the bow will be usable, so we could have proper Robin Hood gangs roaming around :-D. Bow should surely have quicker "fire rate" then crossbow, so maybe that will become weapon of choice for pure survivalist and stealthy types. All in all, crossbow & Bow will never become weapon of choice for your usual coastal KOS M4 spamming n00b. Carefull players might appreciate it though. We just need craftable arrows and balancing in a way of loot rarity (which is not possible atm). edit: regarding crossbow attachments, I've read, that only those special iron sights from M4 works. Acog is not properly alligned, not sure about red dot.

Devs said, that AKM will have lootable underfolding stock, so basically there will be AKM / AKMS. That upper AKMS is the same I've got...only that mine is just airsoft toy O_o. Still love it though :). Personally I'm not huge fan of overtuned AK's, I feel that wooden furniture + Kobra or PSO (maybe GP-25 & 30) is perfectly enough for that gun. -
This is very easy to answer. Helis were in vanilla Dayz mod as well. People liked the horror of hearing one and scrambling to hide in a bush. I got also some fond memories of me driving car and being pursued by heli, was intense as f*k. Flying one was also damn good feeling! Let's not forget that Huey & Littlebird was a LOT more easily destoryed then tank. If they were close enough, you could do some nice damage with weapons like AKM or such. You did not need rocket launcher to destroy or immobilie a heli. So even if I understand your point that helis are lot more hard to maintain and pilot than tank, the thing is, heli did not pose such a threat as MBT would. And surely, if they introduced tanks, we would need RPG's to protect against them and while both tanks and RPG's would be possible to find in basicaly any European country, I really don't think the changes it would bring to the gameplay are what DayZ is about. Let's wait for modding, then surely there will be some mods with tanks and hell even with jets. p.s. I'd like bigger variety of boats. Also wish some river was connected to the sea and you could travel inland on a boat.

I wish devs acknowledged that current system of attachments influencing accuracy so much is just a placeholder. That would make me sleep better. On the other hand I dont have anything against attachments being in the game. It's always nice to personalise your weapon a bit plus attaching scope and bipod should influence usability of the gun a lot. -
Do you have post process on max or something? The picture is heavily blurry, I had problems to even see the guy you were talking about.

In that case I recommend War Thunder: Ground forces. It is ALL about tanks from 2nd World War, Germans and Russians at the moment. There are 3 difficulity levels: arcade, realistic and simulation. I play on simulation, it is still a bit arcadey, but you dont have aim assist, no penetration info, you dont see names over enemy's tanks so in my opinion it is nice blend of realism and arcade. Easy to play, lots of room to learn. It is in closed beta now, to get in you have to buy tank pack for 20 USD / EUR and then you can play. Time window is from 13:00 - 21:00 GMT at the moment, plus 2:00 - 6:00 GMT or so.

Just don't expect ultra realism, Devs already stated 100x times they are aiming for authenticity over realism. Now that statement might have been about adding stuff into the game, but it seemed as a general one. What would be ultra fail is, if the SA was less realistic & simulation than Mod was. It was mod that made them succeed with SA, if they steer away from mod's simulation parts, it would feel like betrayal or stupidity. -
It's fun. We don't have even a bike yet and people want tanks :-D. Anyway unless devs lost their mind, they will not add tanks, so yeah, go ahead and describe your wildest tank fantasies in this thread :-).

Oh yes Epoch was "really hard" and really providing "true" Dayz feeling with all those traders selling you guns, cars and all other stuff right? I mean it was good it existed, but please, do not alter SA to anything like Epoch! That would be frikkin disaster. Leave tanks, lazers and other stuff for once modding is allowed. Then, by all means, create your own SA spin-off with unicorns shooting lazers from their bums, or whatever your heart desires.

I've played a lot of Dayz Mod & its modifications and only tank I remember was the one from DayZ 2017, which could not fire at all. So I wouldn't say that tanks contributed to DayZ experience at all. On the other hand Wasteland.....

You present this idea as if only "honorable" folks would want one. You can bet this would become number 1 vehicle for KOS'ers and other dudes and then forums would get flooded with pissed off people describing how they were crushed by tank and loled at via direct com. So while having tank is surely realistic, I am confident it would have very bad influence on gameplay. Also what would you want next? Nuclear submarine, Battleship, mobile artilery? Such stuff is best to leave for Arma, have you try it? Arma 2 - 3 are good games.

Well even if tank ammo is crazy rare, having driveable tank itself would be crazy big advantage. Nobody could touch you, you could drive over some poor survivors while spouting rubbish from voice and lot of other abuse would come from that. I respect you having different opinion, mine is, that neither tanks or heavily armored APC's have place in DayZ, atleast before it's open for modding, then all kinds of crazy will happen.

Well they could add even spaceship, if they wanted, does not mean it would do game any good. I freely confess I did not read the whole 1st post, but I dislike the idea of tanks in the game. Even if one could realisticly find a tank, even if it is easier to drive a tank then fly a heli, it would pose a bigger gameplay issues having armed tanks or APC's roaming around. Surely then one would request having RPG's and .50 cals back in the game, in order to protect himself from armored vehicles, and before you know, the whole DayZ would turn into some Wasteland with zombies. Regarding being able to weld metal plates to cars, that idea I kinda like.

I can't help but dislike the idea of feeding folks disinfectant. But unless it's hacking & glitching, all is fair in the world of DayZ.
