Will be fun once some diseases are in game, or infection for that matter, then these badages should be superior to the rags or normal bandages, since they are kept sterile until opened. Now they are as useful as fake tits on a zombie.

The thing is, that Sporter is very weak firearm and having zero chance of spawning with magazine + having to journey into contested military areas to get one, is turning this rifle into absolute garbage. And that is, I believe, plain bad no matter if from gameplay or realism sake. Same can be said for pistols like P1 and CR75. Such weapons surely do not belong exclusively to military loot, those are firearms that civilians would own as well, so their mags need to have a chance to spawn in civilian areas as well. I could understand that FNX is ment as strictly military pistol, hence it's mags would spawn just there. I do not see any harm in having small chance for said weapons (CR75,P1,Sporter) to spawn with empty magazine. Plus their mags need to go to civilian loot as well and the sooner the better. This would actualy encourage their usage and make things interesting and variable. Btw loot tables are unfinished and they will stay that way for a long time. Still moving spawns of certain magazines from military to civilian places should not take weeks of work and would enrich gameplay right now.

Looks like some kind of entrance to hell itself!

I like the idea of plate carrier also with replaceable plates of various protection level and why not some attachable mole pocket or pouch. Also these plate carriers would need to be in different camo patterns, but that is cosmetic issue fixed easily by different textures. Once plate carriers are in game I would implore devs to change damage model as it is now. I mean get rid of tin cans and other stuff in your inventory absorbing several rifle caliber shots. Because as it is now, we already have tin can type of bullet protection and it is already too much.

Funny how can you be so sure, that hacker with god mode on can not bleed....I smell something fishy here... Btw nice pun with that "Green" mountain.

What I ment by technology was how to ascertain, which weapon should be better. Better technology leads to better weapons, we can clearly see that when you compare rifles from US civil war with what we have today. But if expression "technology" irks you somehow, we can omit it and just use some internet analysis of real weapons. This info can be well used to model ingame weapon attributes after. No need to model realistic barel threading or such, I though that as obvious. Surely we can agree, that M98B is superior than Mosin and everybody expects it to be more accurate, have further range, be more powerfull and also more rare. All of these expectations are based on real attributes of this weapon, no need to impose fictional ones.Making Mosin a better rifle, for some artificial game purposes, would be both against reality as well gameplay expectations thus hurting the game. As you said:"Which is what we need to be focusing on, tangibles.".I fully agree on that and those tangibles should be based on reality as much as game engine allows, which in turn will mean technologicaly advanced weapons to be better in some regards no matter if its range, accuracy, rate of fire, power of projectile and that is what I've ment by using this term :). I really don't see any merit in not taking real guns attributes as a base, when modeling them in the game.I never said they must model every single attribute there is, only what engine allows. -

True, game and reality are two separate experiences and so far, no game depicted reality 100% (maybe with VR in future). Still it makes sense and is beneficial for the game, when guns in game atleast try to mimick some of their real life values and hierarchy. Hence SVD would be entry level DMR, with just 4x zoom optics, but not so rare. Ofc some modern gun would sit higher in hierarchy and be considerably more rare, FN Scar-H PR for example. Players definitely like to upgrade their guns, but you know all of that. To put your logic to an extreme, guns ingame could shoot rainbows and we should not care? Why are you advocating total separation from reality? Is it really so beneficial for gameplay? From my POV it surely ain't and yes, I'm aware devs can't code guns to behave 100% like in reality, but I believe they should try and do it as much as possible (to a point). It might be also counter-productive, when ingame weapons are detached from their real life counterparts too much. Many players have atleast rough idea of what particular gun should be capable of, like SVD being good for engagements up to like 800m, and if you drastically change this, it gets more confusing than having more and realistic weapon calibers. Simply put I don't see merit in reinventing the reality too drastically, when modeling guns into the game. I'm for doing it as much as game engine allows. DayZ SA was never marketed as casual FPS game, Rocket himself said 100x times SA should be kind of antigame and for me that means sticking with realism and making things harder (proper gun calibers, complex shooting mechanics, diseases, fatigue, dangerous and numerous zombies etc). Btw if I were medieval warchief, I would employ you as naysmith of mine  -

So you would argue that SVD is same tech as M107 or say Lapua magnum with some fancy scope? If that logic held true, why are new weapons constantly developer and armies gradualy rearmed? Are we arguing for sake or arguing now? SVD should be something like entry DMR, not end game ultra powerfull over 1Km headshoting machine, hence making it very rare makes zero sense. Let's see how it plays out. -

To judge anything, we first would need to know, how rare the SVD will be. SVD should come with PSO-1 and maybe you could find rare POSP. Still, SVD will most likely be viable even with it's natural 4x PSO-1 scope. Let's not forget SVD is not anything hi-tech or extra powerfull. So hard to judge anything at this point..... -

hombrecz replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Well SVD should have PSO-1 and I don't see any reason it should not have realistic magnification of 4x. As you can check yourself, SVD is not hi-tech sniper for long range engagements, it's more of Russian DMR hence it does not need custom hi magnification scope. This rifle was not supposed to be used for engagements over approx 800 meters anyway (so says internet). In the end the SVD does not need to be ultra rare, it's not .50 cal nor some 1 hit kill monster. Compared to M4 with Acog, the SVD should pack more punch, that much is obvious. It might be even more precise than M4 over long ranges with less bullet drop. Compared to Mosin + Long range scope, SVD wins again, as it is semi-auto and has mag for 10 rounds. And maybe Mosin will stop accepting long range scope in the end, which would clearly make SVD far superior for longer engagements. Reg. customisation, I would like to be able to put some rags on for camo purposes , same as they supposedly plan for Mosin. So all in all, I don't see problem with having realistic 4x PSO-1 scope on SVD, quite on contrary. -

The default SVD scope should be enough anyway. SVD does not need to be modular, maybe replacing wooden part with plastic ones, if Devs must have it. What about czech LMG vz.59 Rachot (rumble) available in 7,62x54R or export version 7,62x51. It is old beast, but still kinda works :). -

I'd kill for those limping animations to be in DayZ! Generaly when player is hurt, it should be visible in the way he moves and it should hamper his combat effectivity. Player should not receive 3x 7.62 bullets and return fire like nothing has happened or happily run away like freshly spawned. EDIT: We might be getting tad offtopic here O_o. -

hombrecz replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Heh yes, still I kinda don't need to have .50 cals in DayZ. Surely not without stamina system (you run slower with that beast) and improved sniping mechanics so that you can't just hipfire .50 cal or have great accuracy while standing, like it was possible in Mod. If they made it really rare, maybe KSVK or czech Falcon would be nice. Then again server hoppers might disturb the balance so I don't know.... Russian KSVK Czech Falcon But generaly speaking, I can live without .50 cals in DayZ. They would really need to be done right if to be included into DayZ in the first place. -

Personaly I like both of them! Mosin should probably not be poor man's sniper rifle, so PU scope should be enough. True, we don't know anything how SVD will be in the game. I'm just saying, that SVD itself isn't super good sniper rifle, but rather DMR kind of rifle for engagements at around 700m or so. -

Also AKM with almost zero spread needs fixing. Shotguns you have mentioned, but also pistols need to be bit more accurate to allow for some 30-40m shotouts. So all in all, there is a lot of room for weapon improvement. btw very nice that Devs start seeing problems due to caliber streamlining, maybe that will help to change their point of view and allow more calibers into the game. Also SVD is not that super great, Mosin, as it is now, coupled with Hunting Scope, is very near what SVD could do. I see SVD better only because of semi-auto and 10 round magazine, but not in reach or accuracy (mosin is too acurate now). -
It made me kinda sad, that Devs do not want to implement Sa vz.58 in the game. I know it looks AKish, but still I think it is also different and would be good to have it! GIEF

Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode
hombrecz replied to TimF's topic in General Discussion
I kinda like both and I play them. What is annoying on hardcore is, when FPS go down, then 1st person view is becoming unpleasant. But hopefully once new renderer is in and client optimalisations done, we could have 40+ FPS in towns with details on normal or better. -

Well I was trying to make some arguments, as why 5.45x39 would be good for gameplay. I might have failed in that regard though, as it's often not easy to argue in foreign lanugage. So in my opinion, adding of 5.45x39 would allow several russian assault rifles to be added into the game and due to different caliber, they could be controler separately from 7.62x39 and 5.56x45 weapons. Meaning they could deal different damage then mentioned calibers and their ammo would also have specific rarity. Taking reality as a guide, 5.45x39 assault rifles could be more abundant than 7.62x39 and ofc NATO ones. This would allow 7.62x39 be somehow more rare in military installations, although that ammo should be still part of civilian loot tables once CZ527 is in game. I would expect 7.62x39 to do more damage, but has more of a bullet drop and recoil, while 5.45x39 would be the opposite. So yes, this is my opinion about this and I agree with your last post except the part of "maybe" adding 5.45x39 :-). -

hombrecz replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
What is puzzling me still is, that adding of 5.45 can not be such a huge ammount of work, it just can not. It would make sense to have AR's in east block 7.62x39 + 5.45x39. Then logicaly western AR's in 5.56x45 and we need ofc 7.62x51 be it for some marksman rifles or some heavier AR's etc. Then as you said, game would benefit from 7.62x54R to make Mosin's, SVD's and others not connected with nato rifle caliber. Hunting caliber would be cool too, for civilian spawns, but not sure which one that should be. Surely would not want the to add some obscure caliber just for the sake of gameplay. To those Russian AR's you mentioned, being available in 7.62x39 as well (AEK-973 etc), they ofc exist. Still, from gameplay's side, I can't see much good of having basically all russian AR's to use just 7.62x39, because it would be your "russian AR" caliber to get, same as now 7.62x51 is your rifle caliber to get. I realise that game can work even as we have it now, caliber wise. Still I want more from DayZ, because I want it to be best game possible and this caliber streamlining is, in my opinion, huge step in the wrong direction and is not needed at all. Agree 100%. I'm a bit suspicious, that this confusion exists only in minds of Devs for some reason. Mod, as you correctly said, had no such problems, why would it then matter for standalone? More so if they already sold kinda enough to call it a success. -

hombrecz replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I'm just glad Devs changed mind about CZ527 using 5.56, that would be even worse then AK101 instead of AK74 with 5.45. There is really not much to say about this. It is bad solution both gameplay and realism wise, that is if Chernarus should retain atleast shred of authenticity of eastern country and provide reasonable differences between NATO and WP weapons. Your opinion, fair enough, I do not share it though. I agree that we need both 7.62x51 and x54R, but I will continue to advocate adding of 5.45x39 as well. Only "problematic" thing with 5.45x39 I can see is, that except AK74, AN-94 and AEK-971 + Vepr, there is not that many other weapons that would use that caliber. Still 3x AR's and 1 civilian rifle does not seem too bad plus the fact that AK74 in correct caliber simply IS iconic weapon. -
.380 ACP Coming To DayZ! [Torchia Reddit]
hombrecz replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
Well you misunderstood. They did not include 7.62x54R, so it is not error in description at all. They merged 7.62x51 and 7.62x54R together, this is what they call caliber streamlining. Devs assumed this will please mysthical "casual" player, that would freak out if weapons had correct calibers. Based on this philosophy Devs also did not make proper AK74 in 5.45x39 even when it's iconic assault rifle and shares caliber with AN-94, AEK-971 and also civilian rifles like VEPR. I really thought, that it is kinda obvious why it is bad for gameplay to have western and eastern weaponry using the same caliber. This will make it noticeably harder to control their usage separately. Yes, for example M4 is now only at helicrashes, but even if you find AK101 in barracks, getting ammo will be the same problem as for M4. And I don't think magazines spawning full will fix this, since those can be quite rare, thus gimping usage of AK rifle, which should not have this problem as opposed to western weapons. Same problem is with 7.62x51 being used by Mosin, Blazer and probably also some future western DMR's or such. Again, you will be unable to properly control their usage, because by making ammo for hypothetical DMR rare, you would hurt Mosin as well. -

Model of ammo has basically zero influence on gameplay and I could care less about it. It is enough to navigate if description is correct so no, incorrect 7.62x51 model is of zero importance and can wait. -

hombrecz replied to skill89's topic in Gallery
Why oh why in 5.56x45? Instead of having iconic AK74 in 5.45x39 we are having export version using NATO caliber which will severely affect using this beautifull assault rifle. So wish they've added some western AR in 5.56 and left AK74 in 5.45 for both gameplay and realism. Imagine having game situated in USA having M4 chambered in 5.45, because it can be done in real life so.....
