Come on man, who would venture outside in this god damned heat? I'm starting to envy folks in Nordic countries (Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway) with their summers, where temperatures are around 20 C (in southern parts).

How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?

Funny thing I found out is, that my enemies overlooked me a lot more on 1pp than on 3pp. Often I was hidden in bush or pine tree (1pp) and squad went by without even noticing me. Sometimes all it took was being prone in high grass to remain hidden. I guess I'm trying to say that in 1pp, it is a lot harder to spot folks, which often results in chance to avoid fire fight completely. If you die a lot less in 3pp, then I guess you are very good in taking full advantage of 3pp camera ;) -
I would still think there can be middle ground between how big things are in real life and reasonable FOV for a video game, even without any zooming. Also nothing bad when devs are trying new things, but yes, I guess feedback is needed. By this point it must be clear to everyone, that no matter what, DayZ can not be 100% like a real life, since that is not yet technically possible. The real question could be, what is acceptable, or what is the best choice to go with. Unrealistic zoom to emulate real life distance view, or smaller things because of FOV.

TIL the only trustworthy people in DayZ are nine year olds.

I wonder how many would have executed Vinny for simply being a squeeker. Also what if he was actually good shot and did not miss your head the first time. Still beautifull story of father & son adventure. -
Funny thing is I can't see any European servers at all. Yesterday I saw 2x UK and 1x DE atleast, but today nothing. I got "experimental" written in the filter and rest is default, so they should definitely show. If I raise ping treshold to 150, then I see some US servers.
-
Are you sure the camo building next to north east barracks was standing?
-
This might be stupid question, but is there a list of experimental servers? I keep seeing onyl 2-3 EU ones, but there's gotta be more right?
-
I hope that next stable, whenever it hits, gonna be interesting! Meanwhile I will gorge upon GTA V and Witcher 3 is not that far away as well, so devs should have some breathing room atleast from me :-).

Heh I even forgot I had "-malloc=system" already in my launch options. Problem for me is to be really sure what does helps and what does not. I guess I should test the game with and without every parametr one by one and check FPS.

Guns you can't wait to see in DayZ?
hombrecz replied to The Aquatic Land Walrus's topic in General Discussion
I think it simply has to change since 7.62x39 is being used by civilian weapons as well. And yeah, SKS was also my fav weapon outside of military loot. Now if only those bayonettes worked already. -

First, I'd love if CZ527 got scope and it's magazines were spawning in normal civilian buildings in reasonable quantities meaning NOT once in a blue moon and not just in police stations. Heck, it is civilian hunting rifle, so obviously you could find mags in civ areas as well. And yes, 7.62x39 would need to reapear in civilian loot again, I hardly ever find any these days, in civilian buildings that is. Secondly I'd like maybe some Zastava weapons, heck even Czech Vz.58. Now I know they are not looking that 100% differently, thanks to magazine shape, but still. They would use existing ammo and that should be plus as well. No need to configure new ones as that is something devs dislike. And I patiently await SVD Dragunov which I guess is held back due to problems with persistence and global loot economy. Maybe once we get SVD, Mosin will lose Long range scope and will stick with just PU instead and CZ527 could get something like LRS itself. Btw I think that SVD is cool also because it is not a weapon for extreme ranges but more like around 1000m. But yeah, it fits the theme as hell. -
Managed to meet 2 folks in like 2 hours. First said no word, waved and ran away. Second, SpanishJohn his name was, typed that he has no mic and after I offered him some food and help, he tried to knock me with a shovel. Wish folks on experimental played more...playfully. For some reason I can see only 3-4 German exp servers. No other.

Thanks for some tips how to join. That seemingly freezing when hitting connect buttom was nagging me. EDIT: Can confirm that pressing REMOTE , putting server IP there and then refreshing allowed me to join a server. Upon first try BE got updated, I left the BE update window open for what seemed like 2 minutes, to fully complete. After that, I again went to remote, paste ip, refresh and VOILA, I've joined the server! So except for reported buggines of V3S, my only gripe with new experimental is the lack of players on servers. It is rather early now, some 9:27 am here, but server with just 5 folks is sure lonely place.

Yes yes! I want to try to live off the land but I kinda hate bow. Would love to try that with xbow but since you still can't craft bolts (WHY DEVS WHY?) it's a no go. Oh I can just imagine that....dressed in those craftable leather clothes (once they are in), with xbow, trusty machette and improvised backpack from boar skin or even deer skin, I would happily try to live off the land, hunt animals and maybe ocassional trespasser!

Was this on whitelisted private shard server?
-
Yea that's what I assumed when clicking LAAAAG option. Not very accurate description of the performance problems anyway.

i5 is enough for gaming. If money were not the issue, I'd suggest i7 4790K, but i5 is enough for purely gaming. Gfx 970 is ofc great gpu, no question about it. Btw as Standalone is now, be ready for having FPS problems in cities anyway. Hopefully new renderer will help a ton.
-
Hmm yes in Arma 2 having Radeon maybe is not the best option. Luckily I have zero problems in Arma 3 and most of the other games. If Nvidia and AMD/ATI costed the same in the same performance class, I would most likely chose Nvidia though.
-
I damn loved the camo'ed UAZ. But I also liked "Offenders" and wished for them to be atleast as fast as UAZ on many occasions. But yes, both should be implemented. They are classy!
-
Geez thanks for the comment! Did not notice hehe.
-
Wasn't that one pretty lame on grass though? I remember these being far superior.
-
I have R9 290 but I also think, that since Nvidia is bigger and has larger share of market, devs often tailor games mostly for Nvidia's cards resulting in less troubles for Nvidia users. That said, I love AMD/ATI for price/performance. When I was buying my R9 290, the only Nvidia card I could get for the same money was GFX 770 and that has A LOT weaker performance. Wish we lived in an ideal world, where only difference between GPU's was their raw strenght and price. No proprietary techs like PhysFX, Gsync, TressFX, Mantle etc.

Plate carriers would be interesting, if done properly. Should, for the sake of gameplay, not have too much of inventory space, so you would trade ability to carry tons of stuff for being protected from few bullets. Oh and those plates should weight some as well, with stamina system (hope we get one eventually), they would make you slower and drain stamina faster. Also the plate carrier vest should not get ruined fast, just the plate itself and that should be changeable.

Time to reduce run speed with vehicles inbound?
hombrecz replied to Bororm's topic in General Discussion
Hehe it is as I always said, the sooner we remove training wheels, the better. And as I was affraid, tons of folks (casuals mostly?) got addicted to warp 1 speed of running and they will now scream and fight back, when devs try to remove this unrealistic feature. Gentlemen, it is the high time to remove these suckers and start playing as ADULTS! -
Hmm beta before end of next year would be bootylicious, but it would need some luck I guess. Anyway things are moving, sometimes slower, sometimes faster, but they are moving indeed. A bit sad that Rocket made drama and deleted Reddit account, but maybe that is a part of his detachment from DayZ development. I'm starting to understand what he ment by saying, that in certain phase of DayZ development, he could do more harm then good to the project. If devs managed outlined stuff from 2015 Q1 and if the new renderer brings better client FPS, I will be very happy and DayZ will become a lot more playable.
