Agreed completely. The first time I heard one I thought it was a zombie, that combined with the running sound effect had me running full sprint until I realized it was a damn goat stuck in the side of a hill.

Multi-Person Mechanics to discourage KOS

Tl;dr my original questions stands: have you ever been to Eastern Europe? If the answer is no you cannot make an accurate assessment of the topic, regardless of whatever BS you read online. Everything on the internet is true after all. ;) -
Multi-Person Mechanics to discourage KOS

... Have you ever been to Eastern Europe? Hunting rifles are common, shotguns can be found every damn place. The availability of military hardware would make sense as well considering the apocalyptic setting of the game. All of the AK's imported into the US have to be made somewhere after all.. -
I watched a guy die within an hour of falling 7 feet, landing on one leg, and falling to his back. Stop your crying.

Multi-Person Mechanics to discourage KOS

I don't get why people get bent out of shape when players KoS. It is a valid tactic, and is one that adds a level of realism and fear to the game. I understand the frustration when you work for a while to accumulate gear and someone takes it from you. Sure it sucks to get killed by someone you didn't know was there or even worse- someone you were trying to help. That said it could happen in the real world, what this game was designed to emulate. -
Ping and desync indicators removed?
JohnMcClane replied to roguetrooper's topic in General Discussion
I first noticed that this was missing in exp, and was slightly annoyed to see it gone in stable. -
That computer will absolutely run it. My wifes laptop runs it at low graphical settings with about half the hardware. lol

What has been your biggest "I'm done" moment?
JohnMcClane replied to aquamonkey's topic in General Discussion
This is a survival game though. If you don't have time for that, play Killing floor or something. -
If the player induced horror isn't enough for you as it is, I suggest you play on servers with greater than five people and head south.

What has been your biggest "I'm done" moment?

If you're afraid to use your ammo that just means you are too afraid to sustain it. This is what a hacker took from me last night: +7 more full magazines out of sight. I never fear using my ammo because I spend a lot of time in places where it is common. That said, I'm not pissed that I died, I'm pissed about HOW I died. If it had been a firefight, or even a misstep in the open where someone got the drop on me, got it. However when I'm getting headshotted through a wall by a guy that drops half my group, It annoys me. Just google "DayZ hacks" and you'll see what a horrible problem this is. -

The rampant hackers are killing it for me. Fully geared character I'd been playing for over a month. AK101 w/ six mags and a sup. with a full kit. My group was inside a building with no windows and closed doors when I heard three suppressed shots, then all three of us were dead. -
colt python vs repeater for cherno killing
JohnMcClane replied to Osprey98's topic in General Discussion
When I don't have a semiautomatic rifle, the Repeater/Revolver combo is my go to setup. One caliber feeds all, and .357 is pleanty powerful to put down anyone with a round or two. Quick Sea story: A couple of nights ago my group of four stopped in the hospital on the west end of Cherno to rest/shuffle items around. We had somone watching the front door and I was on my way to the roof. While we were there someone came in and started shooting. He was promptly killed and the standoff began. The guy coming in was with a group of 4-6 we think. From the roof I shot across the street into one of the apartment buildings and pinned a headshot on one of his buddies with a Mosin. Two more of his friends attempted to rush the front of the hosp and they were promptly killed by my friends holed up downstairs with AK's w/drums. I saw a fourth guy with an SKS running in the sort of open lot area north of the hosp. towards the apartments across the street from me. I fired three times at him, twice hitting him. He died. The final guy came up one of the ladders to the roof (and admittedly took me slightly by surprise) however, where I was laying gave me the drop on him and I emptied my revolver into him. The final score from this encounter was 6-1. The above said, definitely a viable combo. -
That machine will run DayZ very acceptably.

Know your role, and stick to your words.
JohnMcClane replied to comikz's topic in General Discussion
I'm not saying what they did was cool, but it is a strategy. There are people in this world who will lie to you, there are people in this world who will rob you. There are even people in this world who will kill you after they lie to you and rob you. That said, this is just another example of something that could happen in the real world. You don't have to like it, but as someone who has "played this game for over 1600+ hours", you should know and accept this. While what they did was shady, it is a legitimate tactic. If they weren't supposed to be able to do it in this game, the dev's would have measures in place to prevent it. -
Cool story bro.
