There are plenty of forms of cheating which no one would know about besides the cheater. It is therefore impossible to 'rage' over them.
-
Some lower-range AMD Phenom quad-core. Goes without saying that any Haswell chip outpaces that by miles.
-
Pretty huge assumption to make. Plenty of types of cheating don't 'ruin the game experience of many' - what if he just spawned himself some weapons? A whole lot of people have done the equivalent of that, except by duping rather than hacking.

I was running the game with a much shittier CPU than his until recently, plus a 5770 (only a hair's breadth better than any onboard 4600 GPU... possibly worse, actually) and I got minimum 30 FPS outside of cities. He should easily clear 30fps outside cities, and ~20 within.

Will the AlienWare 17 run DayZ Standalone or Mod?
trtk replied to simidimi12's topic in Technology/Programming
You can look on vendors like Newegg or Amazon and just do a general search for computers in your price range. Here is a link to Newegg's 'gaming laptops' section: http://www.newegg.com/Gaming-Laptops/Category/ID-363 Here is a chart of mean laptop hardware failure rates across companies: @Statik - it really would run DayZ, and well. The 860M is a good card and by 'fourth-generation Intel processor' it is probably talking about some midrange Haswell chip, maybe a 4460. Both are high-performance components. That said, there's plenty of reasons to consider other options. -
So you only have the GPU that's attached to the processor itself. It is not a completely horrible GPU. Yes, you can run the game, especially on low settings. Luckily this game is pretty CPU-dependent. You won't get 60FPS in cities.

Will the AlienWare 17 run DayZ Standalone or Mod?
trtk replied to simidimi12's topic in Technology/Programming
Absolutely. Just a bit of advice though: those people saying 'don't buy alienware' aren't fooling you. Alienwares have huge hardware failure rates and are extraordinarily overpriced. You can find a much better laptop for the same price, or one with that specification for a much lower price, by purchasing from another company. Alienware preys on computer illiterate people. -
What is your video card? That CPU and your RAM are more than sufficient, but we need to know your GPU as well. @Kami, he probably has one but didn't list it. Also that processor has a fairly useable GPU by itself.

NWAF is never a deserted wasteland for more than thirty minutes.

Anything which diminishes the overwhelming and artificial advantage large groups of players have is good, and large magazines do that.

Tents. What are they good for? Absolutely Nuttin
trtk replied to RAM-bo4250's topic in General Discussion
Tents are an excellent addition. They add a whole new layer of endgameyness - once you've geared yourself out to your liking, rather than having nothing to do besides kill people (and disregard their gear, since you won't need it), you can continue amassing gear and be rewarded in subsequent lives for your forward thinking. You talk about it like it's some cheap thing, that people can re-gear quickly with tents after dying, but that's just sour grapes from someone who probably doesn't possess the forethought to stock them. -
Just committed pre-wipe suicide in Berezino

This is not a good thread, just so everyone knows. -
Which is ABSOLUTELY NOT how it should go with these systems, especially oo systems. More shitty coding.

OK. Thanks for unambiguously saying that you are forfeiting the argument, because it seemed for a moment like you still had some delusion that you could remain in it while ignoring every point your opponents put forward and expecting others to prove your points for you. That's not how the burden of proof works. The rest of your post is some cocktail of emotional appeals and irrelevant stuff, and you gave up on the argument by your own admission, so I'll ignore it.

On the real, though, admin abuse is pretty rampant, especially in those 'clan-owned' servers. They'll restart them over and over to respawn loot for their members, restart them if their members are in trouble, kick people for killing their members (or violating some contrived rule that you can't actually kick people for, like 'NO KOSING'). I wish it could be cracked down on like the mod, but the fact is the devs don't care about anything this time around.
-
I provided a list, but you chose to disregard it and just plainly state 'NO THAT'S WRONG' because you have no other argument.
-
NWAF if you want to kill other geared-out people. find a sniping spot with that bipod mosin and have fun the coast is a clusterfuck of cheaters

fyi you are 100% entitled to a refund of this game if you live anywhere in europe, and no 'disclaimer' they make can change that. Any company that refuses such a refund gets sued by the government of the party refused for violating their trade laws whilst vending their products there.

You do a skillful job of selecting only the bad arguments and sidestepping the good ones, as is usual protocol for Bohemia damage control.

To all those complaining about not finding mags ..

The fact is that this game is not going anywhere. It's been nine months since release. Promised features like vehicles are still not in, we're only just now getting the easily-exploitable 'centralized item hive' that they raved about as one of the main reasons for a standalone game, cheating is rampant, the game is less optimized than ever, gameplay is still 'get your weapon of choice within 2 hours of looking and some ammo, now you're done forever' with no endgame interests at all, just a pointless deathmatch for no gain. There are bugs upon bugs, and new ones every patch. Rather than implement arma 2 or arma 3 guns and vehicles as the players asked at release, giving a huge and instant variety of content at all levels, they chose to work on low-quality remakes of them for no reason whatsoever. These developer resources could have been spent on fixing the enormous mountain of game-destroying problems and bugs. Zombies are poorly implemented crap-piles worse than they were in the mod, every new gun is some clone of a previous one with near-identical ballistic properties rather than being some unique niche-filling weapon, there are basic amateur idiot mistakes like 9mm doing 900 damage while .45 does almost 5000... the game is a joke, and only the most naive among us still believe they have any interest in making is better. They already have everyone's money, and that's all they intended to get. It's much easier these days to make a cheap scammy cash-grab game and hype it than to make a good game that will satisfy your customers. Worse, just be calling the game 'alpha' for years and years you can have people defend it for you, when even on 'release' it will still have less features and polish than a real game's pre-alpha stage. Only the people who play this game <1hr or less per week argue this, because they don't really care what happens to the game and just want to get a 'good feeling' from defending the developers and pretending they're morally superior. The absolute fact is that at this rate, we will never get a full-featured and polished game - it will go on like this, at a snail's pace of 'development' just to keep the poor saps who bought it complacent, then they will quietly abandon it with some excuses about new projects or financial limitations.
