I should have gone for his ass, but assumed aiming for the head would be more productive :) -

Was surprised how effective it was. Tried again on another character and zapped a dude unconscious in 1 hit, although my next try was 3 hits on a guy and nothing happened (fresh battery) -
Any News on REAL Snipers?
BeaverProductions replied to therandomredstone's topic in New Player Discussion
I often get the feeling that some people would like this game to be about picking flowers and presenting them to other players. Some people are friendly always Some people are friendly sometimes Some people are friendly under certain circumstances Some people will kill everyone they meet Some people will kill only geared players Some people will kill only players in Military areas Some people will kill only after making contact first Some people will kill from range with a sniper Some people will only kill with a sniper under certain conditions The list goes on and on and on To wail on someone who doesnt follow the same engagement rules that you follow is actually quite pathetic. There are NO engagement rules in this game unless you participate in places like DayZRP. Sure you might be annoyed with some peoples actions (I personally dislike folks who slaughter freshspawns for no reason, but I don't moan about it - I kill them), but to be an ass on a forum about people playing a sniper playstyle is quite pathetic. I like to snipe. I don't always snipe. I like to view players from a safe distance I like to decide if I will kill them instantly or not (99% of the time I dont) I like to work out if they are players who are randomly attacking other players, then I have personal justification for sniping them (as can be seen in the video i linked earlier in this thread). I often just watch people go about their business in towns and military areas without taking a shot unless something happens that passes my personal justification for shooting (Some days that may be something as simple as they are in range and a shot is possible). This is my game and I play it my way and anyone who proclaims that my style is wrong can go shove a LRS up their ass. -
There are 'kind' of low loot servers. I sometimes play on persistent servers to get a more survivalist way of doing things. Persistent servers can have screwed up loot where virtually nothing spawns except in certain areas. If I found these loot explosion areas, I traveled somewhere else so I didn't exploit the bonanza, temping though it was. One of my all time favourite playthroughs was on one of these persistent servers. Its a struggle to find basic equipment for producing your own food, never mind having a backpack full of tins of food. I died a few times trying to survive and had to dump my meager gear in a bush before I went unconscious so I could run back and collect it on a new life. I spawned and searched the coast a little and found nothing much. I occasionally found some beans or bacon in places where people dont usually look (under beds/cars, behind chairs etc), but not enough to survive. I decided to go full survivalist. Picked apples/berries to allow me to travel to the next town. Managed to get myself some rope, fishing hook, shovel and a machete so made bow and a fishing rod and hunted and fished to survive. Also found some wire so set 3 rabbit snares. While the rabbit snares were set and I was waiting to catch one, I planted some tomato seeds then headed to a pond to fish for carp. After I had caught a few, I stalked some nearby animals with my bow. By the time I returned to my snares (2 out of 3 had rabbits after 30-40 mins), I had a backpack full of fish, animal meat and tomatoes. Unfortunately the server disappeared a few days later and has never returned :/

"My leg is in pain" and desaturated screen
BeaverProductions replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
You are welcome dude. Glad to be of assistance Ive not made splints from bandages for a while (as it used up the whole bandage) but it should still work with both rags and bandages. Not heard any issues with people using bandages. Glad you managed to get the splint made. It took me a few attempts to get the timing right for making the splint, but once you do it once, it should be easy from there on in. As long as you perform the actions before your fingers are pointing at your head, it should be fine. Try the "continually pressing W" way of doing it next time. Its quicker and safer than forcing your character into a suicide animation. -
You can have as many characters as there are private servers, 1 on each. You can also have a public 3PP character and a public 1PP character (and experimental 1PP and 3PP characters if you want to go down that route).

Best loot run for all new players
BeaverProductions replied to wolf-yiggy's topic in New Player Discussion
There is no such things as a "best loot run". In this sandbox game, one mans "best" loot is another mans awful loot This is probably the "best loot run" for someone looking to get geared in full military gear and automatic weapons. My playstyle mostly revolves around not getting military gear. In fact a personal goal of mine is to kill full military geared folks on sight due to many many attempts to interact with these types getting an AK in the face. I do not KOS any other type of player. The military are usually portrayed as nasty sorts in zombie movies so I also weave this into my justification. For me, the best loot run entirely depends on where I spawn and also depends on what I want to do with that character. Am I going to be a "live of the land survivalist" with bow/fishing rod etc? Am I going to aim for a sniper playstyle? SKS wielding survivor? Am I gathering supplies for a friend who I am meeting up with? -
"My leg is in pain" and desaturated screen
BeaverProductions replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
What do you mean it wont let you splint? There is a bug at the moment which can prevent things like making stone knives, making splints, applying splints, drinking all from a canteen, and many more. There are a couple of solutions. One is to put the splint in your hand, press W and dont let it go, Select the option to splint, continue to press W untill the process is finished. This also works for making splints, stone knives etc. The other way to get around it is as follows: Put the rags in your hand Press F11 Before you put your fingers to your hear in the animation, drag sticks onto the rags and select the make splint option. Now you should have a splint made. Put the splint in your hands Press F11 Before the animation ends, apply the splint on yourself and it should instantly complete the process. -
Any News on REAL Snipers?
BeaverProductions replied to therandomredstone's topic in New Player Discussion
Posting just one would show us that you are not full of shit. Its FAR FAR easier to run up to someone and blast them with a 60 round STANAG mag M4 than it is to hit a moving target, from elevation, from 800m+ with a LRS Mosin. -

This is my contribution to the "snipers are nasty players" mentality a few of you seem to have. http://youtu.be/O2y9j1uHC2Y -
We found a truck up north and drove it through NWAF and Vybor military base. We decided to leave it at the base as bait and retreated to deal with the shakes from being cold.

Hydrated and Energised need to be bright green, not dark green. -
Server hopping? Is there a solution? If not, what else....

Take that Mosin and snipe the heads off all of them :) -
Fantastic contribution from you there. I dont know if they will do a sequel, but they might do expansion packs with new content and items. Who knows. We will have to wait until the game is finished to even consider what the future holds for DayZ

Here are a few of my tips for a new player. *Get off the coast as soon as possible. You will have a greater chance of finding food away from the coast. *Get yourself an Axe, Machete, knife (or make a stone knife) and put it in your hands and go up to a bush and when the [Chop Kindling] icon pops up, press F. You should now either have 3 sticks at your feet or in your pack (if you have room). Leg breaking is a common bug in DayZ and you can make a splint with the stick and a rag or bandage. You can also look at the ground in a forest and [search for Kindling] if you don't have an axe/machete. Morphine does the same job and only takes up 1 slot *You can drink from ponds. You can also drink from water wells *Keep eating and drinking until you see "Energised, Hydrated, Healthy" icons next to your character when you press Tab. These icons need to be bright green, not dark green. You can continue eating when you are Yellow Stuffed, but stop on Orange Stuffed icon *You can press Tab to pick up objects in your vicinity (see the left hand window when you press tab near an object *Keep your most valuable possessions in your backpack. Zombies usually attack you from the front as you try and hit them and can destroy your Jacket. Putting valuable items like rags in your trousers is also a bad idea as you may break your leg and ruin everything in your trousers. Put them in your backpack or spread rags around on your clothes so you have some in your jacket, trousers and backpack. *You can use a Sewing Kit/Leather Repair Kit to stop bleeding and repair clothes/bags rtc. Bandanas, Tshirts, Hoodies can all be torn into rags. *Use melee items to open cans if you don't have a can opener *Dont use the aiming dot to melee zombies with. Each weapon has its own swinging arc you have to learn. The dot is for gun aiming and picking up items. *To kill zombies, strafe/circle around them while hitting them. Dont stand still. Punching/hitting them in the head will knock them out and you can run away. If you have trouble, run into a house and lock the zombie inside or keep running and you will eventually lose them. Dont kill zombies with a gun as they can respawn and it will alert other players that you are near. *Build a fire if you are too cold (Sticks and rag/book/bandage to make the fireplace kit, then add more sticks or chop down a tree for a log and put it on the fire, then light with matches). Or jump in a pond if you are overheating. *Some of the better melee weapons are Fireaxe (kills Zeds in 1 hit), Splitting Axe , Sledgehammer (2 hits), Hoe, Pickaxe. Things like the crowbar, wrench, pitchfork are not great melee weapons. The fire extinguisher is a great PVP melee weapon. *Jogging instead of running will burn less calories and water. Its advisable to jog as much as possible until you have a good supply of food/water *When you spawn, if you find some wire and you have some sticks and a knife/machete, make a rabbit snare and place it in a wooded area. Loot the nearest town then come back after 10-20 minutes and hopefully you will have a rabbit you can skin and cook on a fire. If you find some seeds, all you need is a shovel, pickaxe or hoe to dig the ground and plant the seeds. for every seed you plant you will get 13 tomatoes in 10-15 minutes (you need to water them with a water bottle or grow in the rain). You can reduce the growing time by adding "Garden Lime" before you plant the seed. If you find a plastic bottle, you can cut it with knife/machete and put it in the water at the coast to trap fish. again fillet them and cook on the fire. You can also fish in ponds, but you need more materials to do so. *If you find a rope and a burlap sack, you can craft a backpack. Add sticks to make it a 20 slot bag. Find a Wild Boar, kill it (run at it head on and melee it before it turns and runs - might take a few attempts) and skin it (with knife/machete) you can use its skin to upgrade to a 25 slot, and coolest backpack in the game. Kill a deer and you can make the skin into a Leather backpack. You will also get steaks form animals you kill you can cook on your fire. Be careful and keep an eye on the food as it burns really quickly after its cooked (about 15 mins after you put it ont he fire). Stoves/Gas Canisters dont work properly yet. *Pistols and Ammo often spawn on the very top roof (accessible by ladder) of the firestations. *Saline Bags + IV Start Kit can replenish blood if your screen is losing colour. Unfortunately you will need someone to administer it to you, you cant do it yourself

Where can I find a chainsaw? Looked for HOURS. How to fuel it?
BeaverProductions replied to venkman302's topic in General Discussion
Hacksaws spawn consistently in the tiny grey tin sheds which have a little roofed area on the left of it which doesnt have walls. They spawn in the side part along with splitting axes. EDIT: I see someone else has already posted where they are. -
Spawning in Prig, I found materials to make a backpack, Repeater and an axe...very good start. No ammo though, and when I take a shot entering Elektro. I flank round to investigate.
-
Sorry, your post bored me. Couldn't read it all.
-
I'm happy with constructive criticism. What you posted was that you were bored. That isn't constructive in the slightest. Its more obstructive. Not all DayZ videos need to be about "OMGZORS 1 v 25 Elektro Mayhem". One man's trash is another man's treasure Also, I'll post whatever I feel like as long as its within the forum rules.
-
Super. You could have saved even more time by not typing that it was boring on this forum.

Thanks for the comments there "Mr Inability To Read". Now I will point out why you are full of incorrect assumptions and bullshit. 1. Minor point, he didn't bandage, he ate food. 2. As I said in the video description, I was shot at with a Mosin when entering cherno from the main road so I flanked round to the coast to find the guy who tried to kill me. 3. The dude was camping the top of construction site looking for me and other bambis to kill. 4. I was sorry for killing him in some regards. Its crap to have to re-gear, but the dude shot at me completely unprovoked from about 3-400m (I didn't try and punch him out or attack him to make him do this). Should I bring him a bunch of flowers instead of an axe? 5. So its my fault now that I took advantage of the game mechanic? You take advantage of game mechanics every minute you play this game (3rd personing, resting before shooting, putting ammo in your gun), or do you stroll down Cherno main street with a burlap sack on your head proclaiming your love for the world in side chat? You are aware that he could have cancelled eating and ran as soon as I climbed the ladder? 5. Its a game. You folks who without even bothering to find out full information, lay judgement on people for what they do, its tiresome. You have a supposed higher moral integrity, but I bet my left nut that you have killed on sight before. Almost everyone has at some point, be in in panic or fright, shot at someone or taken advantage of a situation. The vast majority who says they havent are probably lying. I play it my way, not your way. 95% of the time I do interact friendly with people (as I can attest with my body of work on Youtube).

Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!

Ah I didn't know F2 also worked. Will try that next time. Thanks
