Is using the TS3 Overlay illegal in DayZ?
Coyote (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Someone was telling me that certain games don't allow people to use the TS3 overlay in game. I heard SW:TOR was banning for using it due to it injecting into the game to run. Does Arma care about this? (Or the DayZ team, whichever handles this) -
{Foxfall}, an upper echelon organization.
Coyote (DayZ) replied to {Foxfall} Grimm's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hey is there any chance you would give me a shot? I added you and Baelethal earlier today when the post was still up. I am really interested in joining with you guys. I'm not attached to my gear, I understand this game is in Alpha and WILL have bugs, and I just want to survive with a great group of people. Edit: I also have no problem playing a specific role in the group. If you need a medic, sniper, really anything I have fun doing. -
Two things that I think would be cool
Coyote (DayZ) replied to Genki Dama's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I read your entire post. This would definitely make the game too easy. It's already easy enough to get around the zeds. Even if there are downsides to it, it still wouldn't make a difference. As for the flask, this doesn't seem like too bad of an idea. I'm assuming the flasks would contain some strong form of alcohol. A cool thing about that would be maybe when you drink it, your character actually gets a little tipsy, causing some blur on the screen and maybe some stumbling. It could be somewhat of an emergency drink, or something you drink when you're with some friends sitting around a camp fire talking about your previous/next plan. -
Most depressing moment of DayZ so far
Coyote (DayZ) replied to Zakificus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Damn that sucks haha. What's depressing for me is I've been looking for any sort of sniper for a couple weeks and I haven't found one yet. =[ I keep getting AKs, Remington 870s, and silenced MP5s (Wont complain about those though) -
Noob trying to find guns
Coyote (DayZ) replied to AceOfSpades (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
Well, most of the areas you would find guns in are going to have zombies. You can find decent common weapons in most barns. Utilize your ability to sneak and be as stealthy as possible and you can get pretty much anywhere when it comes to avoiding zombies. Player's are a whole different game though. Stay out of the main cities if you're really worried about them. I'm not sure how the community feels about this, but out of game maps are a great resource for beginners and will show you where you should go for different types of loot and also get you comfortable with the map. Maps: http://www.Dayzmap.info http://dayzdb.com/map I like the second one more, but both are very useful. Also, the poster above mentioned the Lee Enfield. This is a very good gun, and formerly was my favorite common weapon, but be careful with it. It's a 1 shot kill which is nice, but it's extremely loud and there's a chance you'll have a swarm of zombies (and possibly a player or two) stalking you when you shoot it. -
My first infiltration recorded.
Coyote (DayZ) replied to fasthandz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
LOL, I'm glad you killed that guy. He just seemed like an overall douchebag. If someone teamed with me and then disregarded my need for help when he could clearly give it, I'd shoot him too. I would also take all of his stuff, even if I didn't need it, and drop everything useless to me in the woods. -
If I had a dollar for every time my leg broke...
Coyote (DayZ) replied to alexahr2008's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I've only had one bad experience with a broken leg, and my partner ended up running from the middle of Chernarus all the way down to Elektro and then back up to me again to give me morphine. -_- That was one hell of a wait -
A couple ideas I have for the mod

To all the "THIS IS TOO HARD" people
Coyote (DayZ) replied to Regiee's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I agree. Just like how you don't care about the people who cry about the unplayable features of the game (Their opinions, I'm fine and addicted to this shit), we don't care about you not caring about them. And, uh, how did you pay $50 for a game that can either be $20 (Arma II Free) or $30 (Combined Ops)? -
Flashlight in toolbelt, how does...
Coyote (DayZ) replied to Downside's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You're required to place it in the side arm slot. -
Laptop that can run DayZ around 1000$
Coyote (DayZ) replied to Drewmill's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Does it absolutely have to be a laptop? There's nothing wrong with laptops, I game with one myself, but with around $1000 you could build a decent desktop. If you have your heart set on a laptop, then I have no idea =/ -
Keep us updated, sound like this could actually be really entertaining!

I don't run a server or anything, so what I'm thinking might be wrong but... I think server admins can choose what timezone the game is in. Some choose their actual timezones, but I see a lot of servers based in NY (-5) and LA (-8) that are sometimes running GMT -11 and numbers far from their zones.

The Many Misadventures of a n00b
Coyote (DayZ) replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
I second this. If someone was sprinting straight at me and wasn't even yelling friendly, they're dead, and if I'm lucky I just got some beans. -
Any performance increasing changes coming?

From what I can tell, DayZ has it's own framerate issues, which is to be expected. What are your friend's specs? Try to get as much information as possible.

Don't die, Courier. Your stories are inspiring. Live on. Fight the world as you have. Continue to tell your stories. Maybe having a story to tell is the only reason to live. Is that enough of a reason to live? Nobody knows but you.

A possible way to fix people aborting from zombies.
Coyote (DayZ) posted a topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Since this seems to be a big topic, would it be possible to not allow people to abort by setting them as "In Combat" when they aggro zombies. This would allow you to disable the ability to log out while in combat, thus taking care of that issue. I'm not sure if it would even be possible, but I thought about it when I tried to log out in WoW and something aggrod to me as I was doing it, giving me a message telling me I can't log out in combat. -
I read something on the wiki about zeroing on some guns, and today I found a gun that had 300 zeroing, which I could raise and lower. What exactly does this do? I tried to search here on the forums but I couldn't find any explanation of this.

Incorrect. Day Z can run with Arma II Free. Just copy the "addons" folder from Arma II Free into Operation Arrowhead's folder. Run OA as Combined Ops. OT: There could be any number of reasons why the updater isn't working for you. Screenshots of the problem would be helpful. Anyway' date=' you could always do a manual installation, which would likely be easier than fixing the problem with the updater. [/quote'] Exactly what this posted said. Just make sure when you're copying the files from Arma II Free into OA, don't overwrite anything, merge. I made that mistake and even though the game worked fine, I had a lot of UI issues and color differences. I'm now reinstalling to fix that. =[
