In my last 2 play sessions I've found 3 makarovs, 5 makarov mags, 2 1911's along with 2 mags, 2 FNX mags, a cr75 and a mag for that as well. Like was said, NWAF obviously, Jails, ATCs, Firehouses, etc. etc. Makarov mags are also VERY small and really hard to see without inv open, almost as hard to see as snap loaders.

Logged out on the top floor of Elektro firehouse, watched some football, then decided I'll play again. Logged in to a zombie on the top floor knocked out almost instantly...You Are Dead. Oh DayZ, why must you do these things to me? lol

Speculation about "coming" loot system(s)?
Finchtastic replied to Zeppa's topic in General Discussion
You might think that's awesome, but in reality, nobody wants to play a game that depends on loot, absolutely...with no loot. I hope it doesn't get worse, right now seems to be a perfect amount. Not too hard as freshie, not too easy either. However, it kind of silly to spawn in below freezing weather without even a long shirt or something if loots gonna be that much harder to find. -
Beta? THIS year? I like this game and I don't want to bash the devs or anything, but don't make me laugh. You have a better chance fist fighting 10 zombies.

Speculation about "coming" loot system(s)?
Finchtastic replied to Zeppa's topic in General Discussion
They've already reduced the map to less than half the loot it had before, how much more can they really ruin it? It's kind of funny searching 6 apartment buildings and finding ONE can of beans and a pipsi...Only to go to the police station to find a pepper and a pen. Then to the fire station to find a pair of gloves and some badly damaged boots...On a freshly restarted server too...Next I'll go to NWAF and maybe, JUST MAYBE, I'll find more than 3 items in the whole base... -
Do NOT join servers at least until 3-5 min after a restart
Finchtastic replied to xploD's topic in General Discussion
Right? lol.... "DUURRRRRR, UHHH ALPHER!!!! DUHHH!!!"...every damned day. -
I think they should introduce different grain bullets, so then the velocity will really matter..The heavier the round, the more shock damage it deals. or something like that.

For those having trouble finding tents
Finchtastic replied to SentencedToBurn's topic in General Discussion
Confirmed. Logged out in one of these buildings in Chapaevsk yesterday, then saw this later in the day. Spawned in today and the first thing I found was a tent. -
Well, I guess I just assumed an SMG was slightly longer than a handgun, as is usual. If this is case, then you'd be correct, the velocities between the compact SMG and the handgun should be quite similar.
-
A round from an mp5k will have a significantly higher muzzle velocity than from a cz75, both 9mm. This is why it would an extra round to put someone down from the handgun vs. the SMG. The difference in muzzle velocity is about 300-500 feet per second, meaning more impact and stopping power for whatever weight round you're using, which equals a higher shock value.

That's why I take specific routes to places that far, so I know where I'm at at all times. The most obvious examples are the train tracks and main road, but there are many routes. A compass is always good to have if you have room, but it's just not totally necessary after a while. Like maps, I don't pick those up at all anymore. NEVER Don't need em.
-
I think you're right, I was always "I am cold" until I stop running, then "I am shaking"...Start running again, "I am cold". I think running has a small, but noticable effect on your temperature.
-
Don't get me wrong, I'm not 100% familiar either. But after a while, if you explore enough, you get a pretty good indication of where you're going even if you don't know exactly where you're going.
-
after like 20 hours of play, one no longer needs a compass lol. Unless you're a coast dweller finally expanding outward, maybe then.

I was running to elektro and had just gotten out of Solnichny, when some fresh spawn comes running after me yelling at me to give him my shoes. I told him to get lost and he just kept chasing me, yelling about his bare feet and demanding my shoes, until the server reset a few minutes later. Sometimes this game is worth playing just for the encounters lol
-
What the actual F*&k, lol
-
The way I revive people is by ragging them if needed, then force feeding and hydrating them. Worked every time so far, for me anyway.
-
I almost did, because he put his fists up...But it would have been a fist fight because I had no weapons. So, I decided to just keep running and my buddies in elektro would take care of him if need be.
-
Haha, I needed em and he had an entire town to loot for shoes. Not my fault, it's his for losing his shoes.
-
Idk, I was playing today and found a cr75 mag and about 5 or 6 makarov mags, along with 3 actual makarovs. They're around, just gotta look. Also, makarov mags are kinda small, you really gotta keep your eyes peeled for em.

Is DayZ really set in fictional Ukraine?
Finchtastic replied to Mr Sunshine Kid's topic in General Discussion
Also, I know Chernogorsk is an actual place in Russia as well. That's what led me to think that it was set in Russia somewhere -

Finchtastic replied to Mr Sunshine Kid's topic in General Discussion
All of which are direct border countries, heavily influenced by Russia. Who knows, you could be right, but I'm gonna wager that a fictional place using Russian is set in Russia. It's only an assumption, but it's the most logical one imho. -

Finchtastic replied to Mr Sunshine Kid's topic in General Discussion
The signs and towns are Russian, without a doubt (was told by a guy who grew up in Siberia, also, Russian is similar yet distinct from other slavic languages). From this, you can conclude that the game is set in a post-apocalyptic Russia. However, the map, landscape and town placement is derived from a small landmass north of Prague, Czech Republic. The ocean is really a river, but other than that, you'd be surprised how much of this game is actually pulled from real life. -
=UWS= United We Stand ~ RECRUITING (Est. 2003)
Finchtastic replied to trunkz jr's topic in Clans/Groups
Sounds fun, I'd like to tag along one of these times -
I didn't see a specific FAQ or "help" section, so I guess I'll ask here. (I swear, no spam intended). I was just wondering if the recruitment page would be the correct forum for an LFG post. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
