  1. I'd hardly agree, compared to the mod, or that matter any game where guns play an important role, dayz is rather pathetic. Everyone's arsenal is the same, as well as everyone's top tier. Weapons and the various attachments get boring to use, and everyone uses either an SKS, mosin or AKM. Weapons like the cz 527, double barrel and blaze see little to any use, and next to no one seems to have an m4 with a clean legit mag attached. The day where when I walk past 10 geared players and dont see the same weapon twice is the day where dayz's weapons are balanced and finished. Also fire power thing is very flawed, one easily argues with less weapons in game makes its easier to find mags and ammunition the gun you currently have. Sure you can turn down the spawn rates but that still leaves a very boring selection of guns. As for to much, yes, there are other things that they could be working on, but the dev team never fails to prove just how slow they are at doing anything (no offence), and this makes it easier to criticize where they are spending there time. As for every weapon under the sun, lol. The devs have only just got most of the basics done, no where close to 'every gun under the sun' if that where true every gun ever mentioned in this thread would be in game, and I would be surprised if even 10% of those end up ingame
  2. No need to be rude he actually has got a good suggestion here, and for a couple of reasons. Firstly the magnum is in the game so that leads me to believe that there are some hand gun collectors in chernarus or at least people who have interest in large calibre hand guns. Secondly is the fact that there's a very common .357 variant available. How many auto .357's do you know of? I only know of 2. the first is a rare unsuccessful 1911 variant, but we already have a 1911 and a new one in a different calibre would add confusion. The second is the desert eagle and unlike that rare 1911 variant, its fairly popular and common. Adding the desert eagle would add diversity to .357 as a functionally different gun compared to the R92 and the magnum, because once those are in what's else to add chambered in .357? More lever actions and revolvers? there's really no point in adding more of these with the exception of of a mares leg. As for .22 rifles id lean towards a savage mk2, I dont no how common they are outside of north america but they probably the most common 22 bolt action around here in north america. For a little bit more regional accuracy there's the CZ 455, considering there made in Czechoslovakia they should be common throughout europe. Downside is they both would require new magazines. Theres also the ruger 96/22 which takes 10/22 magazines and those are already in the game. Pic is of ruger 96/22, as you can see it looks very much like a 10/22 except with a lever. This is another downside as the two look so similar it could be confusing (Irrelevant really since they take the same mags) and lacks variety, a much bigger point.
  3. No No Most weapons currently in game, with the exception of the blaze, actually would actually be fairly common. Even some of the more sketchier guns like the python wouldn't be unrealistic as its a relativity common revolver calibre. The only flaw with these weapons is if the chernarus lore says the country had stringent gun control, which would prohibit ownership of any firearm, meaning Russian or american, they'd both be hard to get. The fact you think the VSS would be more common a Winchester your whole post even more lol worthy. Only 4 country's use the vintorez, and its only used by special op forces, making it extremely rare. Winchesters on the other hand are good hunting rifles would fairly common for this reason, as they are cheap and reliable and there arent many slavic produced hunting rifles. Dont get me wrong, Im all for the slavic firearms, but only really for common military rifles. Civilian firearm usage is much more varied and in the case of chernaruses map would be much more likley to be found then a VSS vintorez.
  4. The G36's you posted use an adapter. HK has never produced a stanag compilable g36, but an adapter for the the magazine well exists. The AUG uses a special nato compliant stock. I really see no reason to add these variants of the weapon when the devs don't seem to mind adding new magazines. A number off the magazines (cz 527, Ak-101, Makarov, PM63, P1 to name few) have no options for expansion into other firearms, and those who complain eventually learn.
  5. Your thinking seems to be flawed in the fact that you dont want .410 because there are more effective shotgun rounds available, but if that's all you want why add a new shotgun gauge when 12 gauge already exists? You my aswell replace all the rifle calibres with .50 bmg because thats the most effective rifle calibre commonly available. The reason for .410 instead of 20 gauge is variety, not power. .410 also looks more different from 12 gauge then 20 gauge and would cut down on confusion, in both the name and appearance, making it a more likely and suitable candidate. Augs require a special kit and the g36 uses a special adapter that you can see attached to the bottom of the magwell. I see no reason to add these particular firearms, as the only thing needed in the loot tables other then the rifle itself is the magazines, not a new round. The devs have shown no hesitation to litter the loottables with specific magazines, only new calibres so I would imagine these could go in as there normal most common variants.
  6. If where ever going to see a new a shotgun calibre its going to be .410 . 10 gauge is even more rare and 20 guage dosent offer any more variety in firearms then 12 guage does. Atleast with .410 you get the judge, aswell as a few cool smaller shotgunsWho cares if there only good use is hunting rabbits and small game. Small game exists in chernarus, and so would the rifles and shotguns to hunt them. In the real world its not just military rifles and hi-power rifles. Additionally a number of european countries have stricter gun control making it easier to get .410 shotguns and .22 rifles then other larger calibres, making these sorts of firearms even more common.

    Blanks & Jams

I have thought about a system similar to this but cant see it being effective without a second quality indicator. You see 'dirty' and 'badly damaged' are not the same. Both will cuase you weapon to jam, but a badly damaged rifle can't be fixed without taking it to a gun smith, however a dirty rifle just needs to be cleaned. Rifles would get dirtier the more you fire, especially with automatic weapons. A clean m4 would likely get dirty enough to start jamming around the fourth magazine. An AK would start jamming around the 6th-7th magazine. As for actully damaging your rifle, it can happen; head spaces can slip, recoil spings can break, the rifle can overheat and seize. However most of these sorts of damage should be exempt from dayz, the rifle actually needs to have force applied to it to get damaged, such as being dropped or getting hit by a zombie.

    Reskin the Russian Calibers

No your wrong, I play with a group of 6 friends and 4 of them almost exclusively use the the colours to tell 7.62x39 and 7.62 apart. when I tried to teach them the difference they thought is was to confusing and couldn't understand why there is so many 7.62 variants. I gave up, it wasn't worth my time. So colours do make a difference, but in the case of 7.62x51 and 5.56 aswell as 7.62x39 and 7.62x54r different pile shapes will be helpful as well. I dont think renaming would help much either. Most of the confusion with the casuals stem from the fact they dont bother reading.
  9. I think you would have better luck fighting for 7.62x25 then fighting for an obscure re chambered German captured sub machine gun. As for the Norinco its interesting, its not technically 'correct', but so far there really hasn't been many 'correct' in terms of location and calibre. The norinco wouldn't be much worse in correctness then the makarov, and norinco is a big company with a large export market, so theres a chance. But the main reason id like to see the tt-33 and other 7.62x25 firearms is because 7.62x25 is such and interesting calibre, and making them all 9mm variants defeats the whole point. But.... while where on the case of norinco, figures id throw these around... Norinco T97, 5.56 uses stanag, and is a bullpup. Interesting, but still not as likely as an AUG or FAMAS Norinco M305, an M14 clone. Really popular here in Canada, but I have no idea about how common it would be in civilian hands, still probably more likely then an authentic Springfield. It would be a good way to get M14 into the game considering how limited the use of the M14 is with the Americans, and the fact any M14 in in use with american forces would be dressed up as an EBR or have the good old DMR.
  10. What about an RPG-7? It sounds dumb, and incredibly overpowered but its the most common rocket launcher in the world, and Chernarus being being a former Warsaw pact country would no doubt still make use of them. It could further balanced by the RPG taking up the slot of your primary weapon a and each rocket taking 3 vertical spaces, or maybe even 4. Obviously there no use for it now, but it would be an interesting addition alongside cars, something to really make people fear and reconsider driving one. Other weapons i would love to see implemented but have probably already been discusser include the SVT-40, SVD dragunov, AK-74, AKS-74u, AK-74m (to replace the ak-101), AK-105 (to go alongside the 74m), RPK, RPK-74, PKM (this would be hard to balance and likley have to be the only heavy machine gun), CZ-550 (chambered in .308), M14 and FN FAL for heli crashes, and the TT-33 and CZ-52 using 7.62x25.
