Why does the game hide everything cool from us?
gcriseightysix replied to Sebidee's topic in General Discussion
I totally understand the frustrastion, man. However, making certain items rare makes the thrill of looting gear that much more fun. Upon purchasing the game back in June, I was disappointed in the rarity of many items that I thought should have been more common. As I play more I realize that keeping on the move and venturing from town to town is the best way in which to locate rare items. When you do happen to come across a 1st tier weapon (akm,m4, mosin, etc) it feels awesome and there is a real sense of accomplishment. Once you have a weapon, finding ammo/attachments and magazines for these weapons feels just as good, despite the scarcity of them on the map. Also, try not to server hop as much. traversing the map may be time consuming, but it certainly has its perks. -
So I found my first vs3 today in pulkovo on my way to balota from NWAF. I was very pumped and thought the truck wasn't as buggy as it id expected it would be. once I got to balota I exited the truck and the server reset, leacving me without a ride. After exiting the truck, I noticed when I aim my mosin (with long range scope) the gun sway appears to be bugged and the scope moves all over the place uncontrollably. it makes it near impossible to hit a target and its kind of frustrating. I haven't seen any reports of this, has anyone else experienced this?

Persistently boring empty servers.

Dayz is about what ever you want it to be. if you enjoy looting, loot. if you enjoy interacting, interact. then respawn because interaction gets you killed. -
beans on an interesting post. i'd say my favorite town on the map is vybor. there is plenty of overflow traffic from the NWAF and the western military base. also, a police station and a generic office building next door to each other make it a good spot to apprehend unsuspecting victims trying to loot weapons. also severograd has a nice centralized location and a lot of open space to take pot shots with the mosin.

I completely agree that its hard to meet a stranger in dayz that is truly cool and trustworthy. I feel its very indicative of human nature. In a true apocalypse situation, I feel the scenario with meeting strangers would be the same, and thats the beauty of this game. the fact that this player had the ability to be so deceptive (as mean as it may be) is amazing and I give him my beans. I learned my lesson the hard way as well when I was fully kitted out and help a fresh spawn in novo with food and water when I was knocked unconscious with a single swing of his baseball bat while in my inventory screen. best bet is definitely to play with close friends and treat any other player as a true threat, despite wearing a hard hat and having a courier bag stuffed with less than desirable goods. -
Dear Unsuspecting Victim, I will first start this letter by stating that my playing style is more on the conservative/moral side as I always attempt to communicate before engaging another player. This morning I decided to (as a fresh spawn) gather supplies in Elektro and make the long trip northwest west to Vybor. It was quite the trip as I made a small pit stop at the western military base just south of the NWAF to discover the persistence issue had overloaded each of the barracks with piles of guns and ammunition. I looted what I could, managing to find a fresh AKM complete with a 75rnd magazine. I threw on some military threads and headed west to Vybor to gather some food as my status had gone to "thirsty" and I was no longer energized. I ended up settling in at the green two story house across the street from the police station to have some grub, and that's when I first heard you. There you were, like a bull in a china shop, you blasted away a few civilian zeds with your newly polished mp-133 pump shotty right in the middle of the street(in a server with 30+ people). After staring at their corpses for what seemed like an eternity, you mull on down the road right to the front steps of the police station; where you felt it safe to crouch and eat a can of tactical bacon, outdoors for all in vybor to see. At this point I'm thinking to myself, how could this guy have survived long enough to accrue such a nice collection of gear/weaponry? I mean really, with such brazen ''tactics", it is nothing short of a miracle that you made it this far west. As a matter of fact every decision that you made in the time I saw you, seemed to be the wrong one. You deserved to be shot. However, I decided to spare you because I can find no joy in killing someone who sucked this bad at the game. "HELLO DOWN THERE!" I shouted in an attempt to communicate and not run up on you. I received no such response..... You ran behind a wall and loaded 2 more shells into your shotgun. You picked the wrong guy. I ran down the stairs and out into the street with my AKM locked and loaded, but ran to the right and down the street in a final attempt to let you escape with your life. I heard the three piss-poorly placed shots you fired at me from down the road, but I wasn't hit. As I duck to the right I quickly climb up on the roof of the small "street grocery shack" where I laid prone as I watch you approach with a rather confident poise. That's when I get up, and fired four into your chest before you even knew where I was hiding. You failed, miserably. Keep your chin up though, it will be fun picking apples and looting sub par goods in Berezino as a freshie. next time keep your eyes open and your gun quiet, noob. Sincerely, Hank Mardukas

To The Man I Killed In Vybor....
gcriseightysix replied to gcriseightysix's topic in General Discussion
Agreed, I like that vantage point but the window sill is a bit high and its hard to make shots at the street level. when he fired at me im guessing I was just too far away too quickly. I also haven't had much luck with any of the shotguns myself, I tend to only hold onto them until I find a rifle, even a .22 -
To The Man I Killed In Vybor....

this guy really was just leaving it all out there, deserved what he got -
I completely agree with the "lose your stuff, tough shit" approach as it will provide for the most realistic dynamic to the game. a way to solve this issue would be to implement Safes in which a played can find and deliver (through means of a vehicle) to their building of choice with the option of bolting it to the floor. It would carry say roughly 50 inventory slots, so the player has to choose his/her most valued inventory to be safe from robbery. boom. done.

So I've been having trouble finding a tent since the .49 stable update and I'm wondering if I may be looking in the wrong places. I found one about a week before the character wipe and barely had time to use it. I have been checking castles and misc. feedshacks as that's where tents are listed on the dayzdb map. If anyone has any tips or new spawn locations, I'd greatly appreciate it

Do you believe people who shoot on sight are terrible at DayZ?
gcriseightysix replied to GriefSlicer (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I personally think that this game takes realism to the next level. personally I happen to enjoy PvP more than playing the game for basic survival alone. I don't think this means that pvp players are bad at the game. If the DayZ situation was real, people would be shot on sight all the time. I feel strongly that if a player has enough tactical skill to bring the element of surprise to another player in order to loot his body, than he should. it makes the game more fun.
