Just a warning to anyone going to prison island, the exploit where you can glitch inside the jail is being used frequently there so be careful. I honestly thought this was fixed, apparently not. I would just steer clear of that building all together. Only place I get shot at on the island. Why is this not fixed??

Hueys I come across always have smoke. "The Mi-8 crashes don't produce smoke, making them harder to spot at a distance." http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Helicopter_Crash_Sites

Yep. Normally servers reset around 08 or 09. Get a truck, rush to the spawns. Sometimes you get lucky sometimes you dont. A lot of heli crashes dont have much but some have a lot. This was after one run through the heli spawns on a fresh server. Got a few optics(damaged) and found an AUG as well. The MI-8 Helis i went through(3 counting the glitched one) didnt have much on them. Found two trucks glitched together too, as i went to get in one they flew into the sky lol.
-
Hopped into a server today to find 6 heli crashes and a truck at almost every spawn. Even a glitched double heli spawn. Weird. Got a smersh, m4 and all that trash. Time to make a ghillie :]

I've noticed that too! The 4 guys I killed only one had his gear ruined and it was only the stuff in his vest and jacket :) I thought I was just lucky.... Good to know that the mp5 doesn't damage players gear too much or as likely and itales sense I suppose
-
I just killed a group of 4 fully kitted guys at NWAF a couple days ago with an mp5. The last two I had broken legs and still got them. And they all had fully automatic rifles. So the mp5 is by far my new favorite weapon in this game. I would be dead if I was using my ak74 or shorty shotgun in that fight. 1v4 and I won. So the mp5 useless? Hell no, best cqb weapon in the game
-
That AK74U :D :D now I can almost fully role play as a stalker. Gimme artifacts and bloodseekers hehe..

Ok. Can they please either reduce armor from clothing.... Or

A couple dys ago i got shot by a mosin in a police station point blank. It didnt even mamke me bleed, I had a pristine assault vest and after killing the dude with my mosin, I looked at it and the condition was now ruined. But it saved my ass. I dont mind clothing adding armor personally, it makes for more interesting firefights, sometimes it seems like everyones on bath salts and cant die but its fun. -
It's no-clipping, not teleportatkion but he's moving so fast it looks like he's teleporting. I've ran into a GROUP of friendly hackers and they made their pet. Was actually pretty fun. Scary and weird as shit but fun

I bet it wouldn't go through ceramic armor that the majority of militaries insert in their flaks :D Crossbow should be a serious wound inflicter, and have a high risk of infection and require pliers to remove the bolt head but I still feel like the majority of bullet wounds would be far more serious in this department as well. Id love to see the bolt from the hunting crossbow actually sticking to the dude though. Maybe poison could be added to the bolt tips? Wouldn't kill anything right away but you better have antibiotics on you.

Aiming at them aggros them silly. Don't you know that staring enrages the undead? It's also rude in most societies #respectthedead

How about an animation for repairing anything? Instant repair breaks the immersion for me. Make my avatar mend that shit. The more damaged it is, the more mats you need to repair an item. I wouldn't mind being able to repair even ruined items so long as they can only get to damaged and look all patchy and lose a slot of storage or something. I'm all for rags being the new in game currency!

So the rain is the new Bambi killer :D RAK is going to be spawning hopefully?? If only hit detection with weapons could be fixed. But I'm betting server desync plays a large role in that. I can't wait for 64 bit servers -
Heart :D Made nearly 30 steam friends in the hundred or so hours of play time. I like being friendly and helping people find their friends or get to the next town or loot area, i feel like a tour guide sometimes but its fun! Its crazy how so many people dont know the map or how to use one. I can get from Svet>Novo>NEAF>Devils Castle>NWAF>Green MT>Balota>Elektro>Cherno>Berenzino and back to Svet off of memory now. I would like some more distinct terrain features in the center of the map though... Just a friendly guide. Yesterday I ran into a friendly at NEAF and he was trying to find his buddy in Svet. When we almost got there his buddy got axed in the church and I found the guy crawling in one of the apartments, interrogated him and ended his miserable POS life. Wasteland justice B)

bump? shhh I like the idea of the matchmaking to keep servers full but I prefer to stick to one server and with persistence this will not be possible. I do like the idea of keeping the server full so there's no empty "safe" server for people to gear up on but it just wont work. Hardcore should have less loot. It should be hard to survive. It should be harder in general to add an extra layer of challenge for those of us that are experienced enough to handle it. The harder it is to survive the more player to player interaction will occur, which is what we need. It's called hardcore for a reason :P I have yet to run in to a hacker on hardcore which is the only real reason I play this game mode ATM but I want to see it expanded and improved on, and i agree with the majority of the suggestions in this thread :D

Good work devs! Looking forward to this update. Is the RAk going to be in game now? -
Mosin has 5. A bolt action rifle will likely never jam. It can get stuck but even my piece of shit mosin irl has never given me any real problems. sometimes i gotta hit her a little hard but it works. My personal experience with the M16/M4 platforms has been with the Marine Corps and unless you got some CLP or spit(rust your shit if you dont clean it tho) she's going to jam. The jams are fairly easy to fix and most of them are just the bolt getting stuck or the buffer spring. But more complicated jams can happen on the system such as double feeds and brass over bolt but that's fairly rare and requires some serious fiddling and beating to fix. Id like to see weapons losing condition and jamming when not in pristine. Give the weapon cleaning kit an animation so you can't just auto clean your gat in the middle of combat. As for AKs; those rarely if ever jam but you still need to keep them clean. Weapons maintenance before heading into a firefight or looking for trouble is crucial to keeping you or your buddy alive and thats how it needs to be in game. Putting a 60 round mag in an M4 is just asking for trouble IMO. Good luck getting all 60 off out of an M4 you found at a crashed helicopter site without having her jam. Revolver should never jam. All ammunition should have a small chance of being a dud and not working, depending on condition. I'm sure they will implement this though. Not sure how i feel about blanks. They dirty and dry up your weapon after only a few rounds and would probably not exist in a war torn country like chernarus. The only use i see for blanks is taking the powder out of them for help starting fires or force feeding them up someones ass. I also want to suggest the use of rags in cleaning a weapon(cleaning the carbon and gunk out). It should only clean it to a certain degree and should be ruined afterwards.

True. But if you're taking fire... good luck firing back with a bow. Also the amount of energy coming from a 7.62 round flying into your chest far surpasses that of a reed arrow from a 40-50lb bow. You would need to strike a vital organ to ensure an instant kill and to prevent the guy from sending a wall of lead your way before you can load another arrow. If the bow easier to come by and weapons were more rare(and same with ammo), the bow would have its uses. Its much easier finding an SKS or Mosin and 20 rounds over finding an axe, rope, chicken feathers and specific tree to craft the bow. Both the bow and crossbow never cross my mind in game. IRL a bow/xbow is the perfect reusable stealth weapon/survival hunting tool, but i think the reliability, stopping power and accuracy of a firearm over a crafted bow/hunting crossbow far outweighs the advantage of stealth and re-useability. I honestly wouldn't have the nerve to load an arrow, draw the string back, poke my body out, aim, and fire while getting shot at. For firefights... fuck that. For killing one dude in a perfect scenario under perfect conditions where stealth was vital to ensure my life would not be in danger, sure a bow would be nice So sure buff the bow but I'm still not using that thing unless I absolutely have to. Same goes with the 99% of other players out there.

Read the title and instantly thought you meant a wooden torch on the helmet at first hahaha... but yeah it would be cool but useless with all the 24/7 daylight servers and the fact that you'll be a walking target
-
I see two decent suggestions that ive already seen on the forums before, the rest is silly nonsense: 1. Barbed wire should be in game, give the pliers a use. Allow craftable traps, barricades, weapons etc. 2. Nails.

After 112 hours of game time I've got a few ideas. Today i took fire in svet from SKS fire, no idea where it was coming from and began to search building to building for the dude, long story short I was pretty sure I found him 10 minutes later drinking out of the well by the police station, he was practically a fresh spawn with an SKS, claimed to have no idea what I was talking about when I asked if he shot at us. I killed him... I don't really feel guilty but I just wish there was a way to verify he was the perpetrator, I wish I could walk up to him and grab the barrel of the SKS to feel if it was warm. To feel if it had recently been fired. My Mosin gets really hot after a couple rounds, you can feel the heat off of the barrel without having to touch it. I just wish I could do that in game. Also finding bullet casings would have helped with tracking him down. Would be cool to see these 2 small details in game. And another... Surviving in DayZ is a joke, it's simply too easy. This is a major cause of why this game is still a shooting simulator not a survival simulator like it should be. Personally i believe the biggest flaw is the zombies. They are absolutely worthless besides using them for suicide. Either the zombies need to become much more difficult and an actual threat OR we can just remove them completely(or keep them as placeholders, whatever) and make SURVIVING much more difficult. Nature itself is a bitch enough to survive in already, we dont need zombies to add too it, sure it gives an excuse for the apocalypse but its just a lame excuse for one. However, I do believe the community needs something to keep them on their toes and to keep them to banding together and helping each other out instead of murdering each other on site. This is what the game is missing. Look at any other single player apocalypse themed game (STALKER, Fallout, Metro) they group up, form towns together and survive together. Why? Because it is very difficult to survive on your own, and that's how it needs to be in an "MMO" like DayZ. So here's my suggestion to help fix it The cold. Why doesn't the cold effect players survival yet? I'm sure it will in the future but here's my suggestion: make it snow and make it fucking cold. You want the community to stop KoSing? Give them a real reason to group up in a building, build a fire and warm up. This is just a stepping stone in the right direction. Once we have persistence and building we can have a community and an economy but just imagine seeing a fucking nuclear blizzard rolling in and thinking you're fucked. You begin to scramble to the nearest town and you see a building lit up. A light in the darkness, fucking Jesus himself saved your ass but would you approach it? Would you freeze your tits off and watch that flame in envy. Would you attempt to be friendly and join them? Would you try and kill them for the fire? The Threat Of getting killed on sight is a necessity to the game, it adds to the tension. But if people were in groups the threat is reduced and if theyre were more benefits to grouping besides an extra set of eyes and an extra barrel people would be more likely to do it. I.e. you spoon each other at night, stay warm, and stay alive, that's some real shit. The problem however is the lack of attachment and care for your character, the lack of benefits to grouping, the ease of surviving and the lack of shit to do. All there is, is your gear but what if you had friends and re spawning is worse then just running back to them, you have to survive that trip back now and it may take you a long, long time to be with those dudes again. Hardcore should be more then just 1pp. It should be reserved for those who know how to survive, who have to group to live or die frozen in some tent. Once you know what you're doing, Hardcore should be the mode that you switch to when you want more challenge. But that's another suggestion. To keep my suggestion/rant short: bullet casings, being able to feel a weapons heat, cold that kills in order to add to the realism and survival (Also why the fuck does my Mosin never need a cleaning? Or jam/get stuck like my shitty one does IRL) I know it's alpha, love this game, i got a lot of ideas and things I want to see for dayz. Putting my two cents in for a hopeful future. Thoughts?

Checking if someone recently used their weapon has limited uses i agree, its something that adds to the atmosphere of the game though. Would be as easy to do as checking someones pulse and should be fairly easy to implement, the programming might not be there for the weapon yet though. Yes food and drink and you're golden! What about exposure, hypothermia, heat stroke, sickness, frostbite, all that good stuff. Ive been through Mountain Warfare Training and you would think they would focus primarily on how to kill your enemy in a mountain environment, but over half of that course was purely on surviving and preventing exposure. It should be the same in game. Sure adrenaline in a firefight will help for a little bit but if youre unprepaared for an engagement, (i.e. freezing your ass off) then good luck in coming out alive. And im with you on the season change, i feel like the northern part of the map should be iced over, or something to change the scenery and change the gameplay. Same! I always catch myself tracking down people and stalking them to see if they're friendly, the game is definitely lacking in this regard.

So my buddy Fork and I were running to NWAF from Devil's Castle after looking for tents up there when we came across the legendary, mythical boar and killed it, after skinning and looting his body i created a improvised backpack ON the ground and began to transfer my gear to the new backpack(i had a burlap sack backpack) I also dropped my chopped off mosin on the ground. When i put the new backpack on with all my shiz i got disconnected from the server with a Server Connection Lost and Fork said my BattleEye client timed out(thats what in said in game to him). When i logged back in, i still had my old backpack on, my mosin disappeared, and there were 2 boar backpacks on the ground with all the gear i had transfered into them(IN BOTH). I didnt have amazing gear in there so we just left the duped one on the ground but what gives? Im honestly confused as to how the server duplicated my stuff and lost my awesome mutilated mosin... Previous to crafting this, he poked me in the head with his ashwood stick and knocked me out. I dont believe I could repeat these circumstances to dupe again and dont want to, thats not the point of this thread, does anyone know why this would happen?? (Maybe this should be posted in the bugs section) Has this happened to anyone before?? Help me, im scared...

Noone??? Ok cool.

Humping them around would suck but it is do able, although until vehicles are introduced I don't feel the need for any machine guns. I'd love to see those crashed HMMVs with a 240 on it and crashed vodniks with PKMs. Of course they'd be in horrible condition so you only scavenge the working parts off of them. As for CDF gear.... gloves? Need moar gloves
