    Combat logger and Temperature

Regarding temperature, I think it would be good to have some indicator of the direction of temperature change, i.e. whether you're warming up or cooling down. Perhaps the colour of the temperature bar could change according to the "delta" over the last ten seconds? It would save people from thinking they can avoid hypothermia by running, when it's clearly not enough...

    Dayz giving me a BSOD

If it's any consolation. I get BSOD's as well, about once every twenty hours of playing. It has only started in the last few months though, before it was fine. No idea what causes it...

    Backpack Help

If you want to see you full backpack contents, you have to be looking at a loot item or container, and then go into your inventory then click on the backpack symbol. If you just go into your inventory and click on the backpack you will only see your backpack items on the list on the left hand side, but not the back pack's inventory.

    Wooden gates

Ahh, I missed that. I built my gate the wrong way around, so I guess I'll have to wait until next patch to fix it :D

Is it possible to dismantle them?

    DayZ Mod 1.8.3

That's the solution right there. Why reward helping assholes who run around shooting others? This isn't about human morality, it's a game. And the humanity system is and should be a pay-back system for aggressive behaviour. Be an asshole if you want, but people will deal with you accordingly. I think a very big reward humanity reward should be given for killing bandits: this would alleviate the -100000 humanity scenario: bandits can kill each other to get back to normal humanity. You'd have to add a diminishing returns clause for shooting the same person again and again [as RomanZ outlines above for the medical system] to avoid farming. On an unrelated note, I must commend the devs on the updated loot tables. In 1.8.2 I could barely find any drinkable items, now in 1.8.3 frequently find cans soda. Ironically, 1.8.2 forced me to learn the whereabouts of the wells, so I no longer need canned drinks.

Oh, so it's the antihack. I never had any problems before. I guess I'll jsut try again tonight and see if it goes away...

    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Has there been a revent update or something? I don't seem to be able to drink from any wells anymore. The always present option of "Drink" seems to have disappeared entirely, even when I'm right next to a well. This is on a vanilla server...

    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Are the devs thinking about a weight/volume based method similar to epoch? It seems a bit annoying that a box of matches takes the same slot number as a large water bottle. Perhaps limit movement speed based on weight too (rather than e.g. fainting)? I find it odd to be able to move at full speed while carrying heavy jerry cans as I can without...

    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Ah-ha. Log -> plank -> pile. I saw the option of turning the log into a plank before, but how was I to know planks can be converted to piles? I had seen wood piles at spawn points, I thought this was just there to make stash upgrades more difficult. Thanks for the info...

    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

Fair enough. I haven't actually blood bagged anyone since the last the last version; but I do see BBs & kits about 50 times more often than ABs. BTW, what's the deal with wood piles? When chopping down trees, you get logs - is there a way of converting them to piles? I was trying to upgrade a stash and found out the logs can't be used...

    DayZ Mod 1.8.2

The problem I see with getting humanity for blood bagging is that a clan running around killing people can offset the negative humanity by blood bagging their mates when they invariably get shot. The gain could be made to be inversely proportional to the number of times you've already BBed a person over e.g. the last month: Humanity gain = H * 1/N where H is a default value (e.g. 500), and N is the number of times you've BBed than player. BBing strangers would give you a big boost. The same could be done for antibiotics (perhaps administering ABs could give a comparable humanity gain to BBing; blood bags are a dime a dozen, ABs are really rare). Just my two cents.

Please bring the L85A2 AWS back in the game

Or an empty plastic bottle over the muzzle, like in "The Departed". Finally, a good use for all that trash loot lying around!

    Dayz needs pvp free servers

Jim Bian, on 15 Aug 2014 - 12:34 AM, said: '''First off, this is a game and is meant to be a game. It's going to be played the way it is because it is a game, and not real life.''' I know that Dayz is a game, thank goodness. And as a game, it has rules and mechanics which influence the way you play. If your goal is to create a realism simulator, you have to change the rules and mechanics to so that people's behaviour becomes more realistic. If character death means an end to everything you own, you will think twice about acting carelessly. '''Secondly, I can practically guarantee you that people will sit on hill sides sniping people for laughs.''' Yes, they will. And that makes the game exciting. And if their gear will dissappear when when they die, they will be more careful about it, thus making the game even more exciting for them. And more rewarding for those taking them out. '''People are many things, and being insane, brutal, territorial, and dominant is all in human nature.''' Which is why you are playing games on highly sophisticated pieces of technology, which are the result of countless people from all over the world collaborating and not shooting each other. That's not to say they wouldn't kill if push came to shove in a zombie apocalypse. But they wouldn't all mutate into bandits sniping people from hillsides. '''You're telling me that because there are no laws and no repercussions that people will just stop murdering each other because you don't like it?''' I never said that. I'm saying that if dying means losing everything, people will be more careful. Not more moral. People's actions would count for something. They wouldn't give away their position. They wouldn't risk their lives for laughs. '''Alright, remember how I told you to remember that you said DayZ is a realist simulation? Yeah, well is it realistic for a body to just go away after 10 minutes, and then all objects ever touched by this now dead human just lose existence?''' It's every bit as realistic as rolling the mouse wheel and selecting 'Hide body'. I would break this aspect of realism, in order to maintain the premise [character death is permanent]. '''Also, you argue that some people just run around killing people and if they die they can just run back to their base a regear, with no repercussions of dying. There are repercussions. First of all, they lose the gear they had on them.''' Not if they can just run back to their corpse. Especially if they have a buddy guarding it. '''Second of all, their base is always at risk to looters''' That's not a repercussion of dying. That the inherent risk of having a stash. '''And thirdly, they had to work to get all that gear. You make it sound like it just appeared there for them. It isn't unfair that they stockpile and have the ability to gather all those supplies and that you can't do the same because you aren't as good or don't have the friends to help you.''' When you respawn, you're supposed to be a "new arrival". I don't think it's very consistent with the premise of the game, if new arrivals run to some distant point on the map and find all the gear they need. Besides, once you've got the basics accruing loot is easy once you've got the basics; I've done it myself. Getting past the basics stage is the thrill of Dayz.

I second that. More variety amongst the civilian weapons would be good. The double barreled shotgun should be made useful by increasing its short range damage (the reloading time would ham-string it enough for it not to be over-powered). I always feel it's such a waste of a weapon. 'Jason Bourning' it with 6 shotgun shells should be a viable option. Also, it'd be cool zombies should be able to follow gun shots up the range of the gun (if they can hear me tip toeing around 30 meters away, surely they can hear a gun being fired half a kilometer away?). Imagine snipers had to worry about a herd of zombies running towards them after firing. It would not only be a direct threat, but it would also give away their position to other players, forcing more mobility...
