Expierence: I've played DayZ Mod since two months (give or take a month) after it was released, and also purchased DayZ Standalone when it was released and continue to play both very frequently. Personal Skill Opinion: In my own view, I like to think of myself as an "advanced player." I know everything there is to know about both the standalone and the vanilla mod. I also have researched and (to some extent) had basic military training and tactics. I've also learned a lot and understand mechanics to the game that I use to my advantage that might not be considered with the thought of "real-life military tactics" in mind. I rarely die, and I usually kill a lot of other players before meeting my demise. Play-Style: I'm more of a neutral player. Depends on the mood I am, what gear I have, how populated the server is, etc. It all depends on the situation. Sometimes I'll KoS geared up players, sometimes I'll hold them up and try to make friends, sometimes I'll just stalk them and see what happens and what kind of person they are. However, I do not kill unarmed players or lightly geared (melee weapons or weak firearms (ie. pistols)) without them provoking me. Which DayZ Do I Play: I play the standalone and the mod. However, when I play the mod, my history is a bit different from other people. The only time I have ever (EVER) played anything but vanilla dayz mod and standalone, was for a period of 2 months when I was in a group in Epoch Chernarus. I quite enjoyed it, however I haven't really played a mod ever since. It seems to me like they turn DayZ into a Call of Duty type gameplay. It makes surviving too easy and adds a lot of (what I consider) op content. I am still open to playing a modded DayZ, however that might change depending on which mod it is. Overpoch seemed alright I suppose, but I never really got into it. What Am I Looking For?: I am looking for a group (not a huge clan or a community, I prefer things tightly knit. 2-6 players at most) that is expierenced and skilled at Arma/Standalone combat and understands the game's mechanics well. Somebody that I do not have to support and I can rely on to be an equal if not superior. I do not care if you play as a hero/bandit/neutral, as I'm ready to dedicate to whichever one you enjoy. I am going to stress this; If you are expierenced and what-not, AND you play Vanilla DayZ Mod mainly, I am VERY INTERESTED in checking you out and playing with you. My Personal Info and Contact Methods: I am 17 I have a good headset with a good quality mic. I have a powerful pc, (built it myself!) so don't worry about me running into issues. I am ready to use whatever communication software that you and your group uses. I am a student, therefore once my school year begins (about two weeks from this post's date) I can't play during school hours. I live in Houston TX, USA. I will not join an EU group, as the connectivity issues are (obviously) an issue. My steam is AlwayzL3git (Chirp_Chirp) Exclude "Chirp_Chirp" in the profile search. In case you look at my hours in-game, I used to use a non-steam version due to software issues with Windows 8 (I had to replace my hard drive recently and installed Windows 7 Pro on it instead this time, so no longer an issue). PM me on steam/the forums if you're interested. I am not going to be recording for my own use, however if you require me to record (As long as it's free) I will do so. I am also fine with being recorded and uploaded to media websites. (ex. twitch, youtube, etc.) I only speak English

Bump! Still looking for potential groups.

Kichilron, your profile pic fits you so well lol...

Bump! Still looking for groups to check out!

So steam is the issue than. That makes a lot of sense... I mean, steam breaks at least 3 times a month for everyone who has it so I can see it breaking for devs too! Jeez. My only issue with steam is that it comes with steam...

Please bring the L85A2 AWS back in the game
Jim Bian replied to DarkBoy141's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I can see a lot of potential issues with the zombie suggestion. It would (I imagine) be very intense on the server if all of these zombies had to pathfind their way to a specific location. Also, if that were the case, they'd have to add some way to battle this feature. The only solution I see to this is making silencers more effective. As of now silenced weapons can only shoot sub-sonic rounds and thus reduces the damage heavily, making an M4A1 into a BB gun. Let me show you the numbers; M4A1 Without Silencer; 3300 Blood Damage at muzzle with an effective range of 300m M4A1 SD; 2300 Blood Damage at muzzle with an effective range of 200m So, if you took a common sniper rifle, say a DMR, and add a silencer, I imagine it'd be like this. DMR without silencer; 8000 Blood Damage at muzzle with an effective range of 800m DMR with silencer; 6500 Blood Damage at muzzle with an effective range of 600m That pretty much makes the gun a paintball gun. If they made silencers better, than I could see your suggestion being possible. -
You sir, just contradicted yourself to a huge extent. Not only this, but your argument is very weak and not very compelling. Let me explain... You say, "Dayz is supposed to be a realistic simulation of a post-apocalyptic scenario. If an apocalypse were to happen, I doubt that people would sit on hill sides sniping people for laughs." First off, this is a game and is meant to be a game. It's going to be played the way it is because it is a game, and not real life. Secondly, I can practically guarantee you that people will sit on hill sides sniping people for laughs. People are many things, and being insane, brutal, territorial, and dominant is all in human nature. You do realize people murder each other in real life all the time? You're telling me that because there are no laws and no repercussions that people will just stop murdering each other because you don't like it? I don't think so. Also, remember that you said, and I quote, "DayZ is supposed to be a realistic simulation of a post-apocalyptic scenario." Just remember that for future reference. You say that after death, all tents/gear touched by this now dead player should be destroyed with no logical reason why, along with his body. You say even if another player has this gear, it should just be destroyed. That is by far the worst suggestion/argument I've ever heard about DayZ Persistence. Alright, remember how I told you to remember that you said DayZ is a realist simulation? Yeah, well is it realistic for a body to just go away after 10 minutes, and then all objects ever touched by this now dead human just lose existence? No, it's not. Also, you argue that some people just run around killing people and if they die they can just run back to their base a regear, with no repercussions of dying. There are repercussions. First of all, they lose the gear they had on them. Second of all, their base is always at risk to looters, and they could lose everything they've worked for in a matter of minutes. And thirdly, they had to work to get all that gear. You make it sound like it just appeared there for them. It isn't unfair that they stockpile and have the ability to gather all those supplies and that you can't do the same because you aren't as good or don't have the friends to help you. As I've stated before, I enjoy arguing and I mean in no way to disrespect anybody here. I'm stating my views and opinions. -Jim

Vehicle ownership/stealing system without actual keys
Jim Bian replied to h3l1x's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Personally I think it's a dumb idea to have any vehicle possession system at all. In real life, if you really wanted a vehicle in an emergency situation that was locked, you can break a window/pick a door and than hotwire the vehicle. Besides, it makes you really have to choose good decisions and cherish whatever vehicle you have whenever it's constantly at risk. Let's say you added keys, well what happens if somebody loses the key? Vehicle is stuck there until somebody deletes it, in which case is a waste of a vehicle and rather pointless. Now let's say you are able to break into vehicles and hotwire them whilst having the key system. Than what's the point of having a key and lock if they can be stolen anyhow? -
DayZ Standalone - Persistent AI Bases and attacks
Jim Bian replied to crusader_111's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
In my opinion, a terrible idea. One guy with good cover and a sniper rifle could take out every single AI and than proceed to have a huge amount of supplies and weapons. Having things like this is pretty much just giving away free high quality gear and supplies. -
Please bring the L85A2 AWS back in the game
Jim Bian replied to DarkBoy141's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
They removed it, in my opinion, not because it was OP, but because it totally cheese grated the atmosphere of the game. It wasn't particularly OP, just because of how rare it was. However, once you got one, you pretty much became an unstoppable killing machine if you weren't an idiot with it. Not only this, but in a zombie apocalypse, advanced optics like that would never just be found in a crashed helicopter in perfect, working condition. Hence why it's a tad bit ridiculous. -
My honest opinion; Looking at these posts (and countless others), it seems to me like people want non-pvp servers because they get KoS'd. They say "KoS is just ridiculous, and just killing people is so dumb" or along those lines. Let's be frank here. The counter argument to that is not much better. "In real life, people would kill each other all the time for supplies in a situation like this!" Okay, well this isn't real life, so that's not a valid argument... People who are asking for a non-pvp server usually use a reason to support themselves; "I know of a lot of players that quit because of KoS bandits." "I find myself not enjoying DayZ because I die to KoS." Okay, if you have a brain, please use it instead of reasons like these. Let's simplify. You got mad and quit because you died. You can't argue with that statement, literally. Why would somebody get mad because they die? Well, that's an easy answer; They lose their gear that they spent time getting. Now, let's say you die to zombies. You still lose your gear, thus you just go right back to the reason you were mad in the first place; You got mad and quit because you died. Those people who are complaining about KoS aren't really mad about being KoS'd. That's just an excuse they use without knowing they're using it. If you die to somebody shooting you, you lose your gear and you get mad. You die to zombies, you lose your gear and you get mad. Now, let's counter your argument-to-come. "I get mad at dying to KoS because I had no chance of living! It's unfair." Lol wut? Yes, I've seen people saying this. You had no chance? You did have a chance. Your chance was this; That you didn't make the stupid mistake you did to get yourself in the position you were in that got you shot. Don't get mad because you think it's "unfair" somebody shot you while you stood on top of a fire house without talking to you first. "DayZ is a pvp based game, that's what makes me mad. There's no survival aspect to it! It's so easy to get gear that people don't need to work together." You know, the devs ACTUALLY bought this one. So many people said this that the devs gave in. Hence why zombies are stronger and it's harder to maintain blood, hunger and thirst levels. Loot is also more rare! Wanna see the fatal flaw in this argument? Reasons behind KoS; Boredom, Enjoyment, the Need for Victim's Resources, Scared of Losing One's Own Resources, Easy Way to Obtain Resources. Now, let's see how many of these reasons we get rid of when we make it hard to get gear: None of those. But, here's another counter argument! "Then why do people NOT KoS considering most people have the issues stated in the reasons to KoS?" Because here's the reasons behind not KoSing: Morals, The Want for Friendship, The Help of Another, Easy to Obtain Gear Other Ways, A Challenge (it's harder to survive being a hero) Now let's see how many of those are tossed out the window when we make it harder to survive. Morals, The Want for Friendship, The Help of Another, Easy to Obtain Gear Other Ways, A Challenge (it's harder to survive being a hero) Not only this, but if it's a group, you can cross out "The Help of Another" as well. Now, let's see how many of these it amplifies. The Help of Another Yeah, just one. Now let's see how many of the KoSing reasons it amplifies. The Need for Victim's Resources, Scared of Losing One's Own Resources, Easy Way to Obtain Resources. Three. If anything, the update made KoS a more popular thing to do. "Okay, I see your point. But what does that do to stopping a non-pvp server?" Absolutely nothing. All that means is that you can't say KoSing is dumb, or needs to stop, or is a reason that you dislike the game. It also mean you can't use it as an excuse to why you get mad when you die and lose your gear. But, if we apply these ideals... Let's say you did get a non-pvp server. Very little amount of deaths, lots of friendship, a lot of hate (disagreements between players are inevitable, and they can't kill each other, so it's literally just flaming each other forever), everyone's geared up. It almost seems perfect! But wait... We have something missing... What's the point? And what do you have to do with all that gear? What, are you going to seriously enjoy just shooting zombies all day because they are your only enemy. "I'd give some of my gear and help other players who don't have stuff" It's not hard for them to get gear, so that's irrelevant. "I'd spend my time surviving" Oh, so you just go into a house with close to no threat, take some stuff, run out and sit in the woods sniping zombies and eating food literally all day? That's the only thing you would do all day, and it'd still be fun for you? Sure, it might be fun for a few people. Understand this; It costs money to keep a server up. There might be about 10 people on it (at it's peak) for the first 2 or 3 days. Than some of them realize my point and get bored. Now there's 4 players at peak. You want to pay $30 a month for maybe 12 players to do absolutely nothing all day? Now, if there is players, you can spend all that gear you've gotten on killing bandits, giving it to players (it's actually difficult to get gear, so it is very relevant and appreciated), or just killing players for fun, challange and more gear to give to your friends! You can also talk to other players and have that adrenaline when you run up on them and hold them up hoping they don't retaliate and you can have a friend! $30 a month and a LOT of players who enjoy this would be playing and it'd be worth it all in my opinion. So, at the end of this book, let's see any arguments that try to counter this one; Note that I really do dissuade you from trying to counter this, because it's the honest truth and more than likely, trying to argue this is probably going to make you look stupid, or just increase your state of denial. Good luck, and I mean no disrespect. This is a civil argument and I do enjoy arguing because it's a brain exercise.

Bump. Still looking for a group.

I don't understand (because I'm just a simpleton) why the update hasn't been released. As far as I can tell, the patch is ready, clean and working. It's got a giant stamp on it that says "Ready to Be Released to The Public!" however it's just sitting there. You submitted it to what's his face to review it (for god knows what reason) before it is released. First off for my questions, why in the world does it need to be reviewed? If you say it's working and you've tested it and you're the publisher of MANY similar updates, wouldn't your word be enough to roll it out? Second what is causing such a huge delay? What's the process of "reviewing" a patch? I mean no disrespect, but I'm just really curious why a good, stable release is just sitting in the hands of a group/single person and isn't released yet. Is it the process that takes a long time, or are they just not doing anything with it for some reason?

Probably the best post I've ever seen, ever.

I posted an app on your thread. Note that I will be multi clanning for about the first week or so to find a group of players that I enjoy playing with. Once I find the group that fits me, I'd discontinue most (in majority of cases, all) gameplay with the other groups I checked out and dedicate myself to the group that I find most enjoyable. I hope you understand this and are okay with my decision! :D

Raptor Militia seeking soldiers
Jim Bian replied to patriots20068@yahoo.com's topic in Clan / Group Recruitment
Name: Jim Bian Age: 17 Steam: AlwayzL3git (Chirp_Chirp) Exclude "Chirp_Chirp" from profile search. DayZ experience: I've owned and played actively for several years now; When the mod was first released. Do you have milsim experience: I used to play with a group of highly skilled and expierenced players like myself, and we'd joke around ad have fun, however once we got into a combat situation or a vigilant demanding dilema, we got very serious and did our best every time; Resulting in a success more times than not. Skills: I have (to an extent) basic military tactics and training, I've been playing for a long time (not only dayz, but Arma II) thus giving me sharp combat skills. I'm rather serious when we fall into an engagement and can get frustrated with others if they, for example, make a mistake and than make excuses and babbling on after they die causing those remaining in the battle zone to be distracted resulting in a potential failure. I wouldn't be mad they made a mistake; However making excuses and flaming is very childish and quite frankly annoying. Tell us about you as a DayZ player: I do not have a specific "play-style." I do what I feel is the right thing to do for whatever cause I want to pursue at the moment's notice. Sometimes I'll KoS, other times I'll try to hold up a player to make friends. Sometimes I'll stalk them and see what kind of person they are, and act accordingly to what information I discover. I'm very skilled, very seasoned and rather friendly at this point. For the first year or so I would bandit quite often (hence my combat skills being the way they are; I'm a crack shot with any rifle with mil dots) and just KoS. However, recently I find that being a hero is much more of a challange and provides another hill to hump over, which I enjoy.
