  1. There is one promising thing about DayZ SA: it will be ported to PS4, which means that it should be optimized for a low-end (in PC terms) multi-threaded CPU with 8x2GHz cores and a mediocre (Radeon HD 7870) GPU with 8GB of shared memory. A lot of recent console => PC ports work flawlessly even on budget rigs.
  2. But there is one simple "but": writing a resource-efficient code saves much more time and money than writing a monster and then fixing it with patches and hotfixes, which shows my companie's example. So if Dayz will be supposed to run sufficiently on a low-end PC with 25 FPS at least, it would be really great.
  3. My laptop is not quite mediocre, since I have a Radeon 8970m GPU and an overclocked to 3.5GHz AMD CPU, but still I have a very shaky FPS in towns without zombies. Actually I'm going to buy a clevo based barebone laptop with i7 CPU (no more AMD CPUs for gaming) and a more decent AMG GPU. I'm concerned about DayZ to be available to as much people as possible =)
  4. After some search I see that low FPS is a problem even for more advanced rigs. I guess my problem is not in GPUs (Radeon 8970m is equal to standard Radeon HD 7870, which is quite sufficient for comfortable gaming). Guess my CPU is bottlenecking the system (in overclocked state it's equal to quad-core desktop AMD CPU) and a poor optimization. I agree that server optimization comes first, but honestly, I see no real progress in DayZ SA development progress since it's launch.
