    Kicked Wrong Signature: blahblah.pbo

    This is happening to my Server today! All players (except me (I'm admin) ) are getting kicked. I've turned off BattlEye on the server and still people can't stay on the server for more than a min or two! Running (1.7.2.6/98046) This happened before I upgraded the beta patch to 98046.... I've even downloaded the latest BEclient/BEServer dll to my server/client and it does nothing for others trying to get on. :(

  3. Lovely. But doesn't work too well for private servers like Saintly. Scripts.txt kicks all players off with the 'setHit' line. (#45) So I can't leave it running as I need to change the line "5 setHit..." to a 1 each time.... ;)

    Many thanks for that pointer. That makes sense. I've noticed over time that objects like tents, vehicles tend to move a little everytime the server is restarted. So I guess this one vehicle was resting near a tree or something and was hitting it over and over again.. It generated 10s of megabytes of log files! :) Thanks very much, you made my admin life a good bit easier! :D

Also I can't tell who is doing it! :( I kicked everyone off and the log file is still filling up! I restart the server and it starts up again! Is it possible for someone to do this without actually being logged into the game itself? Is it possible that somehow someone has added an illegal SQL script into my SQL DB which is doing this?

    --- A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT ---

    In Dayz v.1.7.2.6 and beta 97448 I'm still getting some players saying they can NOT see direct chat when the person is standing < 40M in front of them. The server is configured so they can't log in without the same beta patch.... So something is up. Could it be they've got firewall issues in the Windows or 3rd party firewall?
  7. Sadly this version just lists ALL the players there has been on my server. I'd have to spend an age to find the Cheaters. Why not have the option to only list cheaters?

    Had someone on my DAYZ server a few days ago that somehow moved ALL vehicles to the beach and upset the people using them at the time!     Saintly DayZ

    It's a private build of the Dayz Server so people can host a private server on their own computers rather than use an official one.
  11. The white dots (peripheral vision) is not controlled by this file. I too am trying to find where this dot setting is stored! :) But it doesn't appear to be documented.

    I wasn't aware I was ranting. So why didn't BE simply make it count all the lines in scripts.txt? Would make it very simple for an Admin to read the file in Notepad++ and get the right line when reporting...

    Can someone explain why in the game does BattlEye kick a player for a line such as #213 when line 213 is // not much of use //#+14 I presume that BE takes account of commented lines and therefore is reported the correct line in Scripts.txt? I would like to see each line with an explanation of what it is intended to do. For example what the heck does line 215 report? 1 "wuat\\" :) As a IT engineer and not stupid, I can't find the documentation of these security lines on BE web site or this forum.     What features for an official DayZ map ?

    Let's have a crashed aeroplane with lots of dead and Zs around. All the best apocalypse movies have a crashed plane or two... :)

Personally the stand alone version should have a random generated player who is either male or female, of a varied age and has running and tiring parameters, So if they're a fat man/woman they can't run very fast or far. If they're thin then they need to eat more? If they're only 10 years old then they're also slower and we get a new point of view as well. This will help keep the game fresh when played again. I'd like a Dayz with hardly any ammo at all. This would encourage players to save their ammo... Guns and ammo are far too plentiful at present... How about a scenario where there is only x number of ammo/food items on the map? So the players have to 'really' search for them. Once the food gets scarce, they have to hunt animals... maybe this could lead to cannibalism? People are trading in Dayz which is a surprise.Some are even getting into groups to do positive things like helping other people out. Don't have random spawning items throughout the game at all. Set up the items at game start then make people have to find stuff, rather than simply waiting near a house until the item they want is spawned! The forests and woods are not dangerous at all at present. So how about some really wild animals or even Zombies in there? Can we have the ability to have Zombie hordes? Or board up a house using old wood planks, etc.? Variety is the key to the success of any game. Minecraft is successful because it keeps changing and keeping fresh. So offer lots of variety throughout the game life. Maybe offer a prize of 'best zombie' and put the person's characterture in the game as the prize every couple of months? Add items designed by open source developers? Then offer the updated map and objects to all...You could make these items country specific so someone in the UK sees local foods and a person from USA sees a different but similar item. That'll keep the player interested. Goals in the standalone could be - Find a person (a Bot) and rescue them. Get off the island by constructing/repairing a raft/boat... Have certain buildings with Bots in them firing on passers-by? Player has choice of ignoring the area or going in and recovering loot.. If you keep it such that the player is left to decide for themselves if they want to be a bandit or a hero, to help or hinder each other and not force behaviour upon them, and keep players finding new items then you'll do ok. :)

    Future Suggestions for Standalone DayZ

    Here is my suggestions: 1. Allow the player to be randomly given a character. No choice. Let's get away from the idea that all survivors are going to lean and fit. Why not have a kid character? An obese, old or very slim character? A pregnant character? Some of these characters would be speed limited and strength limitied due to age or level of fitness. 2. Give the Player a goal? How about finding their lost Love or another Player? The Survivor has to find a Bot or player and get them to safety. The rescued would need to be fed and watered of course. Maybe the rescued would be a child and might be more prone to crying out, etc.? How about finding the Lab where the Zombie Virus was created? Look for a cure? 3. Let's not have' Left 4 Dead' type Zombies? Why not have Zombies or items that are most localised to where the Player lives? Like UK players get more UK like items, Zombies look more British, etc.? Let's have Zombies of all ages! Just as long as we keep it fairly realistic. One of the great things about DAYZ is that it brings out the character of the Player and they act more like they would in real life. But once you have unrealistic things happening in the game, you break this bond and people won't feel connected to it like they do at the moment. 4. Keep it as real as possible. At the moment we can't eat raw meat. But this is exactly what we would do if need be! People can go without food for days, why can't we in DAYZ? Maybe speed limit the players if they don't eat, cause dizzy/out-of-focus spells if dehydrated or hungry? Other suggestions - Multi-Player: The issue of Hackers is a big one and will eventually spoil the games future if not clamped down. I'm surprised it is so easily for people to cheat in the game. Written by security companies this software isn't! :) So please fix this. Regarding the killing of people by other Players. Nothing should be done to stop this. It's part of real life and learning about trust in the game. In the real world past we learned protocols and customs to hinder people killing each other outright! So it will be interesting to see how this develops in the virtual world of DAYZ. The system could tell the killed player who murdered them. But that would probably just promote revenge and DAYZ should let the natural human psyche play through as much as possible. So don't let the killed be told who got them! But one aspect of this you could do is allow players to vote (at time of death for a brief time) that these murderers are 'bad people'. (But neither party are told.) Then a server could collect these anonymous votes and display the collected data of players to those interested on a web site. This way that might encourge vigilantes to go looking for these bad people across the servers? This may encourge hunting parties of 'good players' and be a kind of natural method of preventing murderers like we used to have in real life. Could be an interesting new angle to the Multi-Player game too? :) Stop people logging out when any Zombies is within 10 Meters or if the Zombie is in 'alert/hunt' mode? Perhaps make it so that if a weapon is fired locally then that sets a time limit preventing log out. People wanting to leave will be forced to find safety first? Please, please do not develop 'acheivements' awards. These are lame. Just let the player do whatever they like. Above all - Keep it real :)

    What should our next competition be?

    How about getting people to dress up and act like a zombie via youtube for example and judge the best ones? Then motion capture the winners and place their 'masterpiece' into the game? This way you'll get free news coverage and some interesting new content. Make it a regular competition and you'll have lots of new and original content to keep game players interested. You could do a similar thing for Food items and animals too.
  23. Easy fix this. :D Open up "/common/Arma 2" folder then select All and Copy. Then open "/common/Arma 2 operation arrowhead" and paste into it. If it says do you wish to overwrite some of the files tell it no... 'Arma 2 operation arrowhead' when used with the DayZ mod is missing some items that are in 'Arma 2'. By copying like this you get the missing items, etc.
