    That's cool. I too am curious about how exactly servers work. Like, how come some servers say they have a few people in them, but you cannot connect to them? Are they intentionally blocking us which is against the rules, or is it a glitch? It kind of sucks that admins can kick people when they join which also happens, but are not enforced to follow the guidelines. I think servers should also be allowed to shut down a server if they see someone hacking or something, not kick people. Because otherwise, they can just farm loot on their own servers by kicking people. I think there is a loophole that was found so that someone running a server can prevent people from joining without having to kick them. So I too, have many questions.

    Fair enough point. I agree that some of us, myself included, are coming off as whiners more than constructive criticizers. So let me reword what I think the post was trying to say. It would have been beneficial to the course and speed of development if a more experienced and dedicated leader was appointed to better delegate the needs of this awesome great game we get to enjoy. Perhaps other leaders would have demanded a dedicated sound team much sooner, for one example.

    If you are trying to connect today, a lot of servers are down due to maintenance. So things are a little crazy right now. Normally I'm been pretty lucky and have not had a character wipe in over a month or so. I'm not logging in today unless after 10 PM eastern time tonight.

    What? So you want to use the roadmap as proof that Dayz is on schedule, but when we point out that many things like Barricading will not be in the game until much later than what the road map says.. which I think is October for the roadmap.... then you are saying the road map does not mean anything and the game is doing fine? God, no wonder I can't see eye to eye with many people on this forum.

    Sure, so as the money piles up for the game, and not a single person gives any criticism about it....... that will lead to an elite product. great plan, never give criticism.

    This roadmap you speak of has barricade system coming before October. Yet there is nothing being spoken or shared about any kind of barricade models or functions. They have achieved navmesh work and I heard they might have fixed zed clipping through doors on the next patch. So yes, some of the roadmap has been met, but not all of it.

    Horse in game

    There is no way in hell a horse will have the correct animations and mechanics if they try to put it in the game now. It's at least twice as complicated to make a horse walk and run correctly than the clunky and awkwardly done zombie and player models we have now. The clipping and poor mechanics of a Dayz horse would be something to behold, indeed. Maybe aftery they fix the engine and concentrate on refining things we may seem something that complicated.

    This is a great question. I would think that barricade work can be put in the game a lot easier than vehicles. So I see you point as to why is there no talk about it lately. It's safe to say that they probably realized that fixing the engine, ambient noises, and major stuff like that is sucking up their time and resources. Which is understandable. It looks like we are seeing the issues of having such a small staff for months, and months now biting them in the butt. We also have not heard anything about the ambient sound progress since hiring dedicated sound people.

    Sure. I'll play another game. But it does not take away the fact that I like the DayZ concept and am a fan much like the rest of us. I will gladly give Bohemia another 30 bucks if they were to fix ambient sounds before month 12 since SA began. Also, I love how you ignore the fact I pointed out that proves why DayZ leadership is questioned. You should be a U.S. Congressman.
  12. So because I have a higher standard and desire for the game to reach it's full potential, I am not welcome as a DayZ fan? I was giving my opinion and reasons why I can't wait until zombies are better implemented. The more we criticize and point out major flaws, the more aware the project can be about what needs to be fixed and what is unacceptable. Just last night I tried to play on a half full server and the ambient noises were so bad I had no clue whether someone was 6 inches behind me or 5 towns away from me. Since this is just alpha, we can chalk this up as to just an issue that needs time. But for people to try and say that the progress is awesome and that Zombies are freaking wonderful now..... It's just crazy. There is far more justification to say that there are still many big issues after 9 months.

    Wow, I'm impressed that they might have fixed zombies from going through closed doors so soon after the navmesh implementation. I must say, I'm impressed and happy about this progress. I wish the notes were more specific though. Like, did they fix a few certain types of doors from allowing zombies to clip through them or did they fix the problem for all doors?

    What assumptions? This thread is about the facts on how strange this widely popular and well funded alpha has been handled. To defend the delays or lack of progress.... one has to actually make assumptions. So you got it backwards. This first rule of leadership is that if anything might not be up to par, it falls on the leader. So I find your comment hilariously ironic. For example, Even after making tens of millions of dollars in sales and being widely popular on over 3 continents..... they had to be dragged kicking and screaming it seems before they finally increased the full time staff from only 35 to double that. I don't think any other widely successful game development had such a small staff for months, and months, and months. A lot of time was wasted in my opinion. We could mention about 5 other facts that show someone has every right to question the sense of direction and leadership of this project.

    What was so difficult about putting in critically broken zombies that have never been implemented in an acceptable manner yet? Yes Rocket is awesome for creating the idea and he deserves all the success for coming up with this idea. But lets get real, the zombies are so terribly broken that there is no way it was difficult to put them in. It if it was, then modding arma was a waste of time and he should of got investors to buy a new engine.
  16. But they spawn out of thin air and go through walls and floors... Stairs. The zombies are so broken that they destroy the immersion factor of the game. Its like a cheap japanese arcade game because they are so badly implemented so far. The threat at a distance does not make them a great part of the game. Hopefully they will be fixed soon.

    "Special build" at PAX Prime?

    This engine can't even handle the basic models and 2 zeds per city that it already has. I agree with you fog would be sweet but how in God's name can Dayz handle fog? We already get 25 fps when looking at a city. Fog may come, but many, many months after they update the broken engine.

    The most pissed off people will be the people that paid for good speed hacks/teleporting. They won't be able to just teleport to sniper positions and take full gear from people. They will still be able to teleport but no one will have any gear for them to steal.

    Yeah this thread is obselete. Im sure we will have all new broken game issues with new patch. But im sure other things will be fixed.

    Sorry but with no vehicles.... There is nothing to do so everyone seems to love pvp. I agree with you though and try to avoid conflicts because to me.... The controls are so bad that pvp is a nightmare and not enjoyable even if you win firefights.

    What? On full servers of 40 you already run into teleporter/speed hackers a lot. On 80 person server it will attract even more teleporters. So for the love of Jesus Christ, they better not add more slots until they prevent most hacking. Every hacker will be drawn to the bigger servers.

    Lol. Awesome man. I like your ideas. Im going to engage in pvp in berezino on a full server. Which means a teleporting hacker will kill me most likely.

    Wait. I know the devs said they can stop duping eventually. But have they ever made an official statement that they will stop speed hacks/teleporters? Im afraid they have hardly admitted they exist.
