That's because DayZ and all other games using the Real Virtuality engine (ArmA 1-3, Take on Helicopters) are heavily CPU focused. That might change once they put that new renderer into DayZ tho, time will tell. -
And now guess what? Get a recent-model desktop Intel that compares to your AMD and you will, again, notice the difference between night-and day. Switching from AMD to Intel easily tripled my FPS.

Those are actually the same models you have when you crash a Blackhawk in ArmA 2, they're ported over. So I strongly assume placeholders. And the ground around them will probably be changed as well. In ArmA 2 they had a pre-made crashed chopper with some messed up dirt, I think they'll probably do the same here. -

Yeah the throwing is a bit clunky....I'm taking a very nervous look at the M67 in my inventory whenever I open it, because I have the sinking feeling that if I finally decide to use it, it will probably kill me. -

Yeah....no. Happens on sooo many servers. Heck, some even have it in their server name "DO NOT JOIN, WILL DELETE YOUR CHAR" or the likes. I mean okay..let them have their weird disconnected server for whatever reason, but don't show it as "public". Also, the goddamn autokick servers are annoying. Devs, you should take a look at that, like seriously. We can't possibly report them all. Or at least give us an option to sort the history by last-played so we can see the server we've been on last and report it. @TheChris: If it happens, hit ESC and then Alt+F4, restart the game and join a server you know works. You will very likely have your old char back. The Alt+F4 is important tho, don't do a regular disconnect cause that will force save the broken char. -
It is kinda iffy in general. There's no known details about the persistence, what degrades how, etc. So we have to figure it out ourself. Also, the general performance of the persistence enabled servers is VERY poor, major desync issues. Maybe that has something to do with it, as well.

It might be the reason. The servers I was on earlier certainly had persistent items.

The AMDs are good cards. You simply don't need the crossfire. But the Nvidias do the job just as well, probably a bit better still. -

Someone posted something about that earlier...apparently, if the server resets, you need to log onto a different server, which will save your char. After that, you can go back to the previous one. I haven't had the problem yet tho, so I can't confirm. -

In all honesty tho....what else is there? I mean yeah, all the survival additions are nice, but I can only fish so much and hunt so many animals. Eventually I will reach the point where it's either stop playing, or look for PvP...and for that you need the shiny weapons. This will all get "better" once there's stuff to actively do. Build a proper camp or barricade some houses...find and fix vehicles....the likes. I'm not worried. Let them toss the loot in there while they fix the core of the game. Then balance it, once it's all there. -
This is by design. Blurry screen means you're below a certain health value. The lower you get, the blurrier it goes. If you don't want it, turn off post-processing in the options. I highly recommend keeping it tho, cause it's a way to tell when you're low on health.

Oh dear lord. Crossfire. Do yourself a favour, get rid of one of those cards. Crossfire will bring you nothing but trouble, heat and power consumption. Instead, get a nice close-circuit watercooler (Corsair H60, i.e.) for that i7 and overclock it, otherwise, getting a k-series is a waste of money. Btw: It is very obvious that this was selected on "more money=better". Either you want to brag for some reason and won't ever buy it, or you were going to toss all that money out without doing any research. -
Yes, that about sums it up. At least if the DayZDB is correct in that the smersh vest only spawns in those crashed helis.Which seems to be the case, as it doesn't spawn anywhere else, either.

The road signs are in cyrillic, actually. It's the alphabet for a lot more languages than just russian. Just as the latin alphabet is used for more than latin. ;) Also, the OP was making a joke... -
As I said, it's not the dynamic ones that spawn on server restart. It's the static ones that do not spawn loot at the moment. For all intents and purposes, the Smersh vest is currently not in the game. And @DannyNickelov: Save the time. I've been to about 20 of the damn things today (lots of walking involved on different servers), never was there a SINGLE piece of loot.

Just the static ones tho. The rusty old MI-8s. There's three of those on the map. One in the swamp between Komarovo and Balota, one near Guglovo and one near the ship-wreck by Berezino. Problem: the loot spawns there don't work in this version, sadly. There's nothing spawning at all. Found a SKS there last week on exp, after that zippo, on exp and stable. More waiting for SMERSH, I suppose. Also means no PM63-RAK. Btw: Dayzdb.com is always pretty accurate when it comes to locations where stuff should spawn.

How many ammo do you carry?

Funny, just earlier today I wondered "do I really need 5 full magazines for my AK101 and enough ammo in a box to refill them all?" Then I got to Zelenogorsk and ran into a 5 man bandit-squad...holy smokes. The first surprised me in the barracks...took a round from my brand-new Obrez, the second one, who came running in in a panic, went down to my FNX...after that I booked it and it turned into a run and gun through Zelenogorsk, surpressive fire whenever I caught a glimpse. I managed to take out two more, then, with one full mag remaining, I went into a house to reload...got followed in by the last guy and it was a spray and pray, AKM vs. AK101. About half a mag I dumped in his direction, with a lot of hits, before I went down (so did he, tho, I saw him fall before I blacked out myself, even if he was just unconscious, he doesn't stand a chance) And what do we learn? The only thing better than ammo, is more ammo. ;) Now granted, it was a bit of an extreme situation as I needed to carry ammo for 3 different guns (Obrez, FNX, AK101) and that I would actually blast through 150 rounds in about 5 minutes was somewhat unexpected, but it reinforced my decision to carry as much ammo as I possibly can, without sacrificing room for other necessities. I like to have at least 3 mags for every gun (one in the gun, two in reserve), more if I find them and got the room and at least enough loose ammo to refill every mag at least once. I don't much prefer manual reload (Mosin, SKS) as it just takes too damn long. I will use either of those two guns if I find clips, not without tho. -
Feed shacks and castles. That's where they (should) spawn. Feed shacks only ever spawn one single item tho, making the tent extremely rare there. Castles never seem to spawn anything for me, I don't even bother anymore. But as always, big shoulds there. The smersh vest is also supposed to spawn at the static MI-8 crashsites..which actually spawn nothing at all, Just keep trying.

For DayZ and BIS games in general, hands down Intel, not even a discussion. went from a Phenom II 975 to an i5 4670k, both running stock clock (making the AMD 200mhz faster)...easily tripled my performance. Where I had barely 25 FPS on 1080p before, I can now play at 150% scaling and still hit constant 30-50 FPS, depending on situation. The only positive point for AMD in terms of gaming, is their price to performance ratio, they're cheap for what they deliver. Intel is running circles around them in performance, tho. Not to mention the Intels have overclocking potential like no tomorrow. If a current i5 or i7 k-model won't make at least 1 GHz more, you're unlucky.

I never get to BE friendly. I usually get shot at first and either die, defend myself successfully or book it, depending on the situation. Problem with all those experiences now is that I find it hard to trust. So I won't KoS, but I don't meet anyone without my gun out anymore, which makes them more likely to engage me. A mean cycle. Just gonna keep being a loner I suppose, except for those rare situations where I run into completely desperate players (bleeding out etc). The group I usually run with is full of trigger happy maniacs, so that's no good for friendly. -
Good old lever-action .357.
