Does anyone have info on helicrashes? Do the spawn? Are they visible? I spent the last 4 hours using the entire running-cycle of a server to look for some crashsites...and zip. Nothing at all. I've used a V3S and have pretty much checked all the usual crash spawns. Are they invisible? Do they not spawn all the time? I've found a single (loot free) MI-8 crash on another server that I searched up and down on. Not a single NATO crash.

It happens sometimes. Lost two chars yesterday...it happens. My advice: Try not to be the first to join empty servers. They probably just restarted and this bug usually occurs if you log into a server before it connects to the database, so it creates a new character. If you do find yourself with a fresh character, try Alt+F4 as quick as you can, restart DayZ and join a different server, if you're lucky the server hasn't saved the new char on the database.

I found one yesterday. In the long barracks at the airfield. They're the typical reddish-brown AK74 bakelite magazine. http://hydra-media.cursecdn.com/dayz.gamepedia.com/4/43/30Rnd_AK74_mag.png Magazines seem to have gotten a lot more rare in general. Well, except for the makaroni...

Nobody knows, I suppose. The static helicrashes were removed and are now random and dynamic. Yet to find a single one of them..

So we now know the first vehicle will be a big-ass V3S. I would assume finding all the parts to fix that beast will take a lot of time and footwork. Not to mention the fuel consumption...I'm digging it. For me, the most important thing about vehicles isn't to have a vehicle, it's the process of finding and fixing it. It gives you a goal, something to do, with a purpose. No more twiddling thumbs once you have the gear you want or need. We've a few of those things coming. We've got horticulture on the way...and while it's currently not really necessary, cause it's not hard to find food, it's still something to do. Same thing with the barricading that will follow. I remember the times of the mod, just vanilla, no anypoch, with limited vehicles. We had quite a few cars and trucks over time, but we still often went on foot. We only used the vehicles when the whole group was together. But the yells of excitement in TS when someone found a car for the first time...and the journey to find all the parts, these were the moments that made the mod glorious. Not to mention all the battles we had with other clans about a damn Ural. I think that thing traded owners about a dozen times, always with a bloody battle attached to it.

They're moving the mil stuff away from the coast. Perfect! Let the deathmatching bambies and various noobs fight it out on the coast with axes and bats. With the "new" camp west of Myshkino, the Veresnik base, the NWA and the soon to follow huge-ass military base in the far northwest, the high grade military stuff is concentrated up there, which is a good thing.

*BUG* Has anyone else experienced this? Player spawns naked and character fails to carry over to most servers.
killerpixel replied to amazingmazer's topic in General Discussion
Had the same issue. Got killed, respawn...not working. Disconnected, went onto the same server (did not reboot), "Please wait..." took forever. Spawned in Vybor after I finally got in. However, apart from that, the Character seems alright. I equipped myself and the character now carries to other servers without any issues. -
Note the IP and report it on the bugtracker. Sadly we don't have a function for it ingame and I'm not aware of any dedicated place for server reports.

Yes! A hundred times over, yes. Even worse than the instant-kick servers are the ones with admins that just randomly kick everybody on the server after a certain time of playing (probably admin getting shot at and kicking everybody on the server to not die)

HELP ME BANNED BUT I JUST OPENED THE GAME
killerpixel replied to Arlidio-D's topic in New Player Discussion
Probably got banned in ArmA 3, they carry over. You sure you are banned? Lots of servers that actually kick everyone but the owner. -
There are no 3 static ones anymore. I don't know about the one near Rify, but the ones in Balota Swamp and Kumyrna are gone. I guess they are now indeed dynamic. *sighs*

Can we maybe not forget that this new, very much overdone weapon sway does not only affect all you wannabe snipers? Pick up an AK, aim down the sights and then tell me that's realistic/authentic. Because really, with any decent assault rifle, you can hit someone at 400 meters with iron sights, in real life at least, not in DayZ because the sway is overdone. And the "you're playing a civilian" argument doesn't count in the "sway debate". I served a few years in the German military, without any prior experience of even HOLDING a rifle. And when I picked up that G36 for the first time, there was only minimal sway (and that's while looking through the 3.5x scope, not reflex or irons). It gets more the longer you hold the gun of course, but that's not how it is in DayZ, the moment you aim the gun is all over the place, which makes even the assault rifles just about useless at longer ranges. Oh and another thing. You Snipers deal with the Mosin dispersion that you feel so overdone. We M4 fans had to deal with the unreal dispersion on that for MONTHS, what the Mosin has now is nothing compared to that, so I'm glad someone else gets that for a change. ;)

Status Report - Week of 01 September 14
killerpixel replied to SMoss's topic in News & Announcements
There are still some pressing issues with the current 0.49 build (if you've played experimental lately you'll know...) It'll be pushed out when those issues are adresses, that's what has been said at least. I'm hoping for next weeks maintenance, personally. Also....AKS74U...does that mean a new ammo type, as well? Or is it gonna be a fantasy 5.56 chambering? -
Oh for crying out loud. BattlEye already bloody announces it! The wipe is gonna happen along with the deployment of patch 0.49. Which is aimed for next wednesday, if they can fix the serious issues.
-
I'd even go as far and say expand on that weapon sling idea! No more magically attaching a long gun to your back. Wanna carry that rifle on your back? Get a sling or build one, otherwise, happy carrying! Also the belt idea is not a bad one, belts in general are a good idea. Could tuck your gun in there..or attach that belt holster I've always wanted instead of that ugly-ass chest thingy.
-
Well, I suppose we're in a delay-cycle again. 0.49 was announced for last week originally then pushed back to this week to allow a strong QA. I guess they once again weren't happy with just QAing and releasing it and instead crammed some more stuff in, that's now broken, cause obviously there was no update today (servers are back up, so yeah...), so something must be really fucked. The wipe is gonna happen with 0.49 release to stable, which is...whenever. This really sucks, pretty hard. Cause I currently see no point in playing with the wipe on the horizon. Makes the whole thing fruitless, as I don't wanna start random deathmatching, which is basically the only thing you can do at the moment, collecting and storing gear is pointless, which I did before, with a couple of friends. Wipes shouldn't be announced. Just do them, and afterwards tell us "Wiped, good luck!". Yes there would be bitching, but it's better than completely taking the point out of the game for the days and weeks leading up to the wipe, especially if it keeps getting pushed back.

"Bad Version, Server Rejected Connection"
killerpixel replied to Angelic's topic in General Discussion
You're seeing the experimental servers, they aren't affected by maintenance. Use the search function ffs. -

TOO HUGE! 136Gb's Storage Usage!
killerpixel replied to CthulhuVehemence's topic in General Discussion
Maybe because you copied 129 GB of garbage into the DayZ folder? -
One weird trick to avoid upcoming character wipe
killerpixel replied to kakysas666's topic in General Discussion
Yes we do. Read today's status report, as well. It's happening in time with the next patch. So probably next week, if they find no serious bugs. -
Of course not. But they wouldn't be organizing battles... Part of the DayZ experience, innit? That whole randomness thing? That's what gets the adrenalin pumping. Suddenly, stuff's at stake. If a battle is organized, everyone will ditch their "good" gear, show up with cheap-ass stuff and give zero fucks during the battle, which takes the fun out of it.
-
First of all it's maintenance, so maybe this was a database issue right before the start of the downtime. Second of all, read the status report, the wipe was mentioned.

What does it matter if the AMD runs to 5 Ghz, if the Intel kicks it's ass with 4?
-
DxTory with the right codec and settings is pretty good, very light on the CPU. Fraps is a performance killer. It makes good videos but they're HUGE and the performance when recording really goes down hard. Otherwise if you have the option, either Nvidia Shadowplay or the AMD Gaming Evolved App (which offers the same feature that Shadowplay does, with cards HD7000 upwards, I believe) These two use the GPU for the heavy lifting, so it's only a minimal performance impact.
