So why all of a sudden am I finding vehicle and sniper rifles?
Domocus replied to ocelot07's topic in New Player Discussion
Well, vehicles are explanatory. Less dedicated players = less large-scale camps = less hoarding. So basically more vehicles out in the open. This, as well as the fact that there are many servers nowadays that increase the amount of vehicle spawns. -
Standalone FPSMMO?
Domocus replied to brian@photographybydavidson.com's topic in New Player Discussion
The War Z will be a zombie mmo. Basically a rip off of Day Z but with RPG elements. While an RPG element would be interesting, it would definitely ruin single player experience, vital to the environment of Chernarus. -
SIX LAUNCHER UPDATE, AM I DOING SOMETHING WRONG?
Domocus replied to Nickds54's topic in New Player Discussion
Look at the version, it's not up to date. Just update manually. -
Sounds like you logged off before waiting 90 seconds, which is required to save your loot.

Any way to play without cheaters? Fuck no.
Domocus replied to Tsyn's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Posing a question and answering it, all within the topic name?! Genius?! -
It takes one. Aim for the head or heart. Upper body/neck if you can't aim, and they'll drop quick. Crossbow is extremely weak, and supposedly does around 3000 Blood, making it fairly ineffective against players.

What happens if I find a hacked gun, or vehicle?
Domocus replied to BobTheBuilders's topic in New Player Discussion
I have heard that possession may lead to a ban. There have been warnings of not picking up hacked weapons (non-Day Z weapons), and ammo refills on beaches. -
Hey guys, guess what! (Crashed heli)

Somehow who plays with normal gamma, there IS hope! -
Do people rather go by themselves than team up?
Domocus replied to robotpenguin's topic in New Player Discussion
"Safety in numbers" doesn't actually apply to Day Z. New additions to a small group can create confusion, whether its when looting or shooting. These new players may also intend to steal the other players loot, rather than continuing a journey with them. Rather than looking for players while in-game, try to find a small community to fit into. -
When sniping, the DMR typically draws zombie aggro. It's suited to long distances, obviously, hence the lack of city usage. This will still draw zombie aggro, but they will only run about 40m towards you before giving up.

So how many of you actually played ArmA 2?
Domocus replied to Wallz (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Arma II, while a great game, lacks any fun for myself. The campaigns, which are bogged down with military lingo, are simply too over the top, in my opinion. While some may prefer it, I'd rather play a game mindlessly for fun. At other times, I go to Day Z to experience the required intelligence to play. I guess it's the MMO'er in me. -
Typically one tin can through the windows that are farthest from the middle will break it. I've never had trouble, except when using hatchet/sidearm.

My first last stand/first bandit(s) kill.
Domocus replied to scarecrowq's topic in New Player Discussion
Surpised you were able to kill them with Mp5, such little damage on it :( -
Any other answer is wrong...? You've provided every possible solution to three of the situations.

I hope you compensate for your small duck..

Too bad. Why should they care if they're enjoying themselves? -
This is how you deal with Bandit Snipers.
Domocus replied to Psychobob's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well that was a surely drawn out video. Congratulations on killing lone bandits with no overwatch :o -
[DayZ] What's your reaction on strangers?
Domocus replied to Delta-Dude's topic in New Player Discussion
If I am alone, I tend to avoid other players. When in a squad, I will typically shoot (unless unarmed, or posing no possible threat). As I gain an enormous stash of weapons, however, other players seem to be the only way to improve myself (aiming/tactics wise), and am beginning to seek them out. -
I can respect starting in Cherno/Elektro for gear, but this was poorly navigated. I'm actually surprised you lived this long. Stick to smaller towns until you learn the layout for larger cities, as well as looting techniques/basic knowledge.
-
It seems both players were playing for the benefit of themselves, especially when hogging all the decent items.
-
Yes, I noticed this today as well, game looked slow-mo while my FPS was down, but zombies were acting normal. A simple 2x W fixed the trick temporarily, but FPS was definitely a factor.

Definitely for the higher player count servers. Newer players should stick to lower population servers until gaining knowledge of loot routes. But I loved the images and laughed a little inside :D

Adults Looking For Others (Females Included), & Mod Feedback
Domocus replied to ZombieX's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well, this certainly looks like a perfect fit for myself. I've owned the game for only a week or two, and have only experience in looting/shooting so far. I live on East Coast USA, and am looking for a mature group looking to improve tactics within Day Z, but also have fun on the way. I am 20 years old and I do have a mic, willing to use Ventrilo. Hit me up on steam, Domocus3, or the forums if you want more information! -
I was wondering the best places to begin looting as a newer player. I've stumbled across various locations, one of them at the docks (near the train station). I've looted various items, including several weapons. However, on my current playthrough (approaching two hours), I have not stumbled across a single weapon. I've found several cans of food and soda, but I constantly find items for vehicle repairs. I've found Jerry Cans, Tires, Engine Parts, and various other items, including a goddamn helicopter rotor. But I still haven't found a single weapon. Is the area near the docks more suitable to finding vehicle items? If so, where should I continue looting at this point? I typically stay along the Southern coast, looting small buildings. While this is safer than the city, it's slow and painful.
-
Ah, perfect, thank you! Looks like I was constantly looting the Industrial sectors of Elektro. I typically play on lower population servers to avoid contact, at least for now.
-
It seems to be random, and slightly dependent on the server. Typically I spawn along the coast, but my last spawn was in Elektro. Find a server that is Regular or Recruit, as well. This will result in newer players that will need to find weapons before the killing begins.
