  4. Here's a thought, fuck knows if someone has thunk this thought already, but here goes. AFAIK humanity is still tracked, my idea was to implement a pvp death system thing much like in an MMO I used to play. Basicly, the lower the humanity you have, the higher the chance of you losing items when you are killed in PvP. Someone with a very high humanity that dies to a bandit will have a good chance that he'll spawn on the coast with the majority of the gear he collected. This way the guys that don't want to be involved in PvP aren't at as much risk of losing gear as the guys that prey on little weaponless coast joggers. Thus the hardcore PvP lifestyle where you can lose everything to a random bandit becomes a choice instead of something forced onto everyone. REMEMBER, THIS IS JUST A FUCKING IDEA, IF YOU HAVE DUMB SHIT ONE LINE COMMENTS GO TELL THEM TO YOUR NAN. Thanks. x

    Classes in DayZ (let the shitstorm commence)

    Certain skill points that increase for doing certain things would be better imo. (think Morrowind) Bandaging people increases your bandaging skill. (You bandage faster or something, can't level it by bandaging yourself.) Repairing cars for Mechanic skill, Building fences for Engineering skill, Running long distances alot increases your stamina (can sprint further maybe). That's just a few off the top of my head. Then you'd make it so only a mechanic with alot of skill has the ability to make helicopter repairs. So if your group finds a helicopter they can't repair they'd have to scour the wilderness looking for a friendly survivor with enough skill that could. Then if the mechanic wanted he could pop them in the back of the head and take it for himself. :D Yeah it could be fun.
  8. Just had an idea, could be pretty simple to implement and could add a nice new objective for people that are bored of hoarding gear. The ability to occupy and run villages / towns has been on my mind for a while now, but I couldn't think of a way to implement it, and the answer is so simple I wanted to punch myself in the nose. Have zombies spawn OUTSIDE of towns, walking toward them slowly like they would a flare. Maybe an invisible marker in the center of towns that they are attracted to. This simple change opens up a massive game play option... occupying the towns and keeping them zombie free through use of wire fencing and other items that would keep them out (maybe add an item that lets you make some kind of wire gate for players?) A group of players could raid a small town clearing it of zombies then start building a makeshift wall around the town while at the same time trying to keep the ones that are spawning outside of the village and coming towards them away. Once the wall is built and the zombies can't get in players will have a "safe" town that they can use to trade in, loot, keep other groups of players away from... There could end up being full scale wars for control of resource heavy towns. Why should we be stuck creeping around the woods and hiding buggy tents when we could be taking entire towns by force! The only thing stopping this happening is the fact that zombies spawn inside the towns rather than outside. A relatively simple change that could have some interesting results on game play. You may now proceed with flaming and crying. edit: didn't see the Liberation! thread below. Maybe this should be in there haha.

    Then there's always the chance someone in the town saw where you are shooting from and you end up under a hail of bullets from 10+ town people. But yeah, why not, this thing can happen in real life, would be a bit tricky surviving the zombies you might attract with a sniper shot though. :D
  10. As far as I know we're meant to be playing average civilians that have been caught in the middle of some massive infection and are trying to survive. How many people do you know that can run 225km+ (maybe even the whole map in one big circuit for infinity, I don't really wanna test this.) pretty much non-stop? Add to this the fact they're carrying guns, food, water, axes, tool boxes, ammo... and then it takes about 20-30 seconds to get their breath back and take a perfectly aimed shot? Surely our athletic ability in this game is a bit over the top?

    This is hardly the same as having to control every body function. I think some of you are exaggerating the detrimental effect this would have on the "fun" factor.

    And I suppose you guys want rid of hunger, thirst, temperature, weather, cooking, hunting, using meds and gathering materials / fuel for vehicles too? Since these things aren't exactly amazingly fun and maybe too "realistic" for your zombie game. Realism and survival simulation are a huge part of this mod. Even the description on the dev heaven site (which I assume rocket wrote) says: "The first and thus best, free-roaming, SURVIVAL MOD for Arma 2. Comes with a free side order of Zombies" So yes, zombies aside, I'd like some consistent realism with the survival mod.

    So you stop and eat / drink every 30 minutes? Wow, so that's how you can run for infinity? I think I'll go tell all the long distance runners in the world that all they need is a little food and drink and they can run forever! Pointless post is pointless.
  14. Spawn, get the fuck off the coast, sneak into a barn, if no weapon, repeat. If you aggro infected, sprint and get out of LoS to lose them. It's not that hard guys.

    Awesome, any news on traps, mister Rocket? Would be awesome to watch those barracks server hoppers squeal in pain as they log in trying to get some phat loot, as I then proceed to smash their faces off with a hatchet. LOG IN AND TRY TO SHOOT ME IN THE BACK AGAIN I DARE YOU! :D

  19. I was killed by that too, then headed back to my body and was shortly after killed by a guy driving a tank... The fuck is going on lol

Just had a thought, if a group of survivors could clear out every single zombie in a town, you could reward them by making no zombies spawn there for a certain amount of time (something like 6 hours?) this might give people some incentive to work together clearing out villages. With the infected hitting harder in the next patch I'm assuming it would be very difficult for someone to do this solo. After thinking that I then thought "Why would we want to empty a town, the wilderness is empty, can do the same shit there.", so maybe you guys have some ideas of what could be done with a "secured" village?

    Character wipe for new patch?

    Guys you're most likely going to lose all this gear and tents at some point anyway. Too many unused tents clogging up servers now, everywhere I go I see abandoned camps full of empty tents, sometimes 30+ tents in one place.
