Anyone else feel like footstep sounds from other players need to be louder? When you're hiding in an abandoned house in the middle of what is essentially a ghost town, scared for your life, someone running up them stairs should sound like a goddamn thunder storm. But instead we're lucky if we barely hear them.

I gave this suggestion a while back for the mod, maybe it'll get noticed this time. The idea was to add some kind of right click option or scroll wheel option which lets you drop your backpack in front of you and save it there like a very small version of the tent. I'm not sure how long items stay on the ground at the moment but I'm guessing they disappear after a server restart. Tents aren't great for the solo player, they're big and easily spotted, would be a lot nicer to have the option of a smaller stash and perhaps limit it to 2 maybe 3 of these stashes per player. Like the box stash you implemented in the mod, except it makes more sense. Perhaps it could degrade over time too, due to it just being a pack and not designed for sitting in the mud for too long really. Also, a backpack quick release option in the scroll menu. When running from someone, drop the pack, small run speed increase to get away (assuming you'll add some kind of weight affecting speed mechanic), if they spot it they might leave you alone and investigate it. If they don't spot it, and you've managed to get away due to the slight speed increase, you can always come back later and try to find it providing some lucky survivor didn't find it first.

There is rain, you just need to stop playing the 24/7 day servers. Everyone's missing out on some amazing weather effects.

Even just a separate Winter variant of the Chernarus+ map would be amazing. Everyone huddled up in the church with a little gas cooker keeping them warm til the Blizzard ends. Even when it ends it would be a tough choice to go out into the cold and risk pneumonia, frostbite or running straight into a pack of bandits due to the low visibility.

Yeah that'd be nice, I don't think it would be possible at the moment though. I think trees are not single entities but rather "tree zones" in a way, I don't think there would be a way to determine which single tree you hoisted a stash into. Could be wrong though!

Been playing DayZ mod a long time and one of the best times I had was playing a variation of the mod called DayZ Redux. This mod didn't add much, but what it took away made it awesome. Sniper rifles were almost non-existent, military weapons were very hard to obtain, even finding a Lee Enfield was like coming across the Holy Grail. This might sound boring to some but what this did was make firefights a lot more tactical, even when fully geared you had to decide if you really wanted to potentially waste that really rare ammo or run and hide. I think what I'm trying to say is, I'd like it if DayZ SA tried to keep the game from turning into Wasteland mod with zombies. If ammo is really rare, it becomes a very nice currency to trade with and lessens the chance of players wasting it on coast spawners. Also keeping away from the high tech stuff like modern assault rifles, Night Vision and Thermal Optics is good for this game, more half broken weapons, diy flashlight attachments and flare usage please.

Very interesting. Would read again.

Should be back up now, he's having a little trouble with hive crashing on him and the service not auto restarting.

I'll speak to Greg, I'm sure he'll have it up again soon. Thanks for telling us.

So I just had an idea for a simple craftable landmine combining the bear trap with a grenade. After 10,000 hours in photoshop I came up with this: For those of you who cannot comprehend the awesome artwork of this really complex trap, basically the grenade is kinda dug into the ground slightly, the bear trap is set next to it, some kind of cordage is used to attach the trap to the grenade pin. Someone steps on trap, trap chomps on leg and pulls the pin of the grenade, couple seconds later happy explosion time happens.

That was the plan. Bear traps are already pretty rare, just make grenades rare too or add a third very rare item needed to craft it. I'm a big fan of the DayZ Redux mod, so I hate seeing things easily obtainable. :)

Thanks for the feedback, bummins. Would be nice to have some more traffic coming through the server though considering the work that Greg has put into it. So I'm gonna bump this thread again in the hopes someone finds a new home here. ;D

What is the longest amount of time your character has survived for?
z0mbie replied to {MILKMAN}Razor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I hit around 30 something days when I first started playing, all on the same high pop server, at least 6 hours a day, because I can. Spent most of my time inna woods up north though. Only shot at people if I needed to, if they didn't spot me I'd let them go on their merry way. -

How are you randomly being shot at if people are following the rules below that? -
How are they doing this? I have a map I'd love to try set up DayZ on.

Are tents savable now on 2.6???
z0mbie replied to Bonehead3535's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Well I just blew up a camp of 6 tents with a satchel and they came back after restart. This doesn't answer if they save or not but it was fun as hell and taught me that tents are the terminators of DayZ. -
Why is everybody so satisfied with ARMA2 Engine?
z0mbie replied to EndEffeKt's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Mainly I like the scale of the maps and the realistic ballistics. There's other tiny things too that make it amazing, for example the realistic star constellations making it possible to navigate by the stars like a boss. So many engines miss out these small details lately.
