Hey guys, anyone have some good advice for where to locate some chickens? I've noticed that some animals tend to inhabit the same areas but I'm not aware that I've come across any chickens yet. I'd really like to play around with the bow and improv arrows.

It feels just about right to me as is. Steep changes in elevation are strategic this way. Even if you could scramble at a slightly faster rate in the future it'll exhaust you quick. Probably not the way you'll want to be spending your stamina most of the time.

I did find and leave a tent on Central 0-4 earlier. I put one large gas canister, some worms and I think a book in it. So probably not this one. I just want someone to get really excited when they see it, open it and then be all, "WTF?". Still a free tent for someone though...

I couldn't even tell they were Norwegian.

The only time I've used a weapon repair kit was when a zombie hit me and I had a sidearm in a wool coat that got ruined. The sidearm was only damaged, good news is that they work. As for zombie damage I just don't take the animation too literally, I imagine they're tearing at you, hitting and biting. At least that's how I justify my catalogue of ruined clothes. I do agree that not everything should be as fragile as a T-shirt though.

Sure enough, took a trip to Msta today. I didn't see a chicken right off but I did see a deer and a goat chilling together. I went down the road to check out the castle, came back, cow and goat were gone but there was a chicken. I ate it.

This was a lot of fun. I also really liked Stallone in the Novo (Phili) luxury tower, I hope he returns to Chernarus soon.

It's always interesting to see what other people find motivating to play or in their play. For me, I just treat it as a sandbox and set myself dynamic goals. It may just be going to x town, or sightseeing, or trying to survive while going through a busy pvp city or trying to create a character type. For the latter recently I was trying to make a Chernarus Police uniform and run around yelling "CPD!" and trying to arrest people with handcuffs until I got shot in the face (sadly a damn zed ruined my pants :( ). There are a million things you can think of to do while in game. Whatever it is you're doing, a mixture of trying to feel superior to other players and "acquire gear" (as if any gear were somehow inherently more valuable?) as it sounds, is just one of the million. It's not a definition of the game anymore than me trying to build a super slav in full tracksuit glory is.

Looks like I'm going to Msta when I play tomorrow.

Carry a pre-made splint with you at all times. Failing that you almost certainly have rags or a bandage, crawl your ass to the woods and forage some kindling.

I feel like after a certain point there's so much structural damage that why wouldn't they be dead? Unless there's some sort of magic in DayZ the creature's systems will eventually shut down. I can see them being tougher against other damage with pain and shock receptors shut down or something but nothing too crazy. It just wouldn't make sense, these are infected people and not re-animated corpses. There are no DayZ necromancers.

It's not meant to punish anyone cheaters or legit. It's just meant to clean the slate to allow for proper data collection and to test mechanics.

This is great news. If it didn't have such an inflammatory effect on so many players, I'd like wipes to occur more when new content is added and bugs/exploits are fixed.

I wouldn't mind a zombie kill counter nearly as much as I hate the idea of a player kill counter. What I'd really like to see is just a tally of how long you survived. That should give player stat hunters some positive incentive in line with the game's aim.

Some people server hop, that's just what they do, it's sad but some people just can't deal. I also think you're being slightly hyperbolic about the inventory system, for the most part it's fine. If anything, I feel rather that you have too much space to work with already if you begin to max capacity. Consider that maybe you shouldn't have the capacity to be able to specialize for every situation. Sometimes you have to make trade-offs, to use an example I used in another thread. If you're more of an outdoorsy character, maybe you do spare the extra room in your kit for a raincoat and wellies as well as your over-the-shoulder fishing pole and extra hook instead of sidearm with mags and plenty of ammo. If you're just interested in urban warfare or military contests with other players, obviously you're going to prioritize differently. Maybe you'll have to stick to the towns more in bad weather and bunker up in a building.
-
You probably shouldn't be able to (at least with a 2-handed axe), but for now, yes.

Day made.

Populations on experimental servers seem to be a little less, unless there's just been a patch, that's probably one factor. Also, as has been said, many videos are of exciting events and not of routine play. If you're really lonely just hang around the northeast coast area or build a campfire in the middle of NWAF, you'll meet someone eventually.

So I'm out wandering the road earlier all pretty green energized, hydrated and healthy and I notice a movement to my right. I step off the road and watch and sure enough, I see a rabbit! My first rabbit in DayZ, I watch it for a bit then line it up in my sporter sights and soon I'm sitting next to a campfire roasting four rabbit legs. Here's the thing though, I ate them, I ate them all. Then maybe 2 or 3 hundred meters down the road I eat a whole can of tactical bacon, a potato and drink 2 Rasputin Kvass. I was energized and hydrated to begin with before I ate an entire rabbit not to mention all the other stuff. After all this I still never got the status effect "full" or "stuffed". This leads me to think that my stomach was probably pretty empty and I had just saved up an absurd amount of calories... Hence, I think he's getting fat. It's probably overly optimistic but it would be fun if this sort of thing could be represented by a changing character model. (there's also some commentary here possible about the abundance of food available)
-
I actually almost never sprint. I suspect always sprinting is a bad habit that's making a lot of characters starve to death on thoroughly looted experimental servers. Not to mention, as you say, when stamina is introduced it'll be terrible form to burn your stamina that way in anything but a critical situation.
-
That's not actually true. Stop eating and sprint around a lot, you'll burn down your calories eventually. Usually by the time you get your character to top energized though getting food is no problem so this is rarely seen.
-
It really seems like the loot tables somehow are set to spawn a ton of AK mags in lieu of many of the others right now.
-
Yeah, I don't think it's much of a representative sample. If one cares enough to post about their favored outfit, the outfit is probably more interesting than the average player.

I still haven't found a Makarov, I want one so bad. :(
