I'll have my guy run off a building if there isn't an official wipe. It's better to start anew.

"Loot: Some guns spawn with ammo now " anyone seen this?
ebrim replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
Considering how apparently unpopular the CZ527 is with many people, I can see someone having found something they liked better in the police station and just switched. -
It's plenty useful. But if you were dropped in a magic room with basically all the weapons and got to choose, I can understand why you'd not pick the CZ527. Sadly, loot prevalence* in the game at the current state is closer to that magic room than not. This may not always be the case and finding a perfectly useful CZ527 may seem a huge improvement over your wrench one day. *(or just ease of acquisition due to unsavory tactics like duping and server hopping, etc.)

Lies. I've not seen it. It'll happen though, it's clearly intended to. -
You absolutely can chamber the CZ527. I actually really like it, it's easy to find without going into military zones and the mags aren't terribly difficult to find. One has a reasonable expectation finding one going into enough industrial areas. It's also perfectly capable of killing someone. You don't use it as an assault weapon, so you're probably not clearing buildings with one, but it's not designed to be. One day when not everyone can expect to have tons of AK mags or even the AK itself, it'll probably get more respect. Sure it doesn't specialize at anything but it's a perfectly capable and decent weapon. I imagine one day it'll probably get some sort of optic attachment. (one large bonus it does have come to think of it is that right now 7.62x39 ammo is absolutely everywhere)

Do you prefer fast zombies or slower zombies?
ebrim replied to kevinthegreat's topic in General Discussion
I respect your passion for the subject, sir. :D Though, these definitely seem like infected, sorry. :( -
It's a cool idea though, I hope it gets implemented at some point. You might post it in suggestions.

Yep, if you're lucky you'll find one of the halves first (N, S, E, W) then you only needed the opposite half to complete it. But you can also get the other half by combining a NW and SW for W, for example.

Map and compass seem fine to me. Use the map to orient yourself with landmarks. If you're in the woods or somehow lose track of your direction pull out the compass and shoot for whatever waypoint you've given yourself. I only use the in-game map, so finding the pieces and assembling the full one is one of my more fun early "quests" as a new spawn.

I rather like the zombie as they are in terms of type and agility. I think it might be interesting if some of the military zombies still had badly damaged guns they could awkwardly fire at you like in STALKER. -
Balota Military Camp Moving to New Location! [SenChi Tweet]
ebrim replied to Katana67's topic in General Discussion
I actually went down to the Balota camp for the first time today. I don't like the military camps they just don't look pretty, especially when they're on pretty real-estate like the Balota one. It'll be nice when it's an eye-sore somewhere else, hopefully the NW part of the map as people have speculated. With new settlements going north, it makes a lot of sense. -
Sheltering under trees should stop you getting soaked
ebrim replied to Ben_uk's topic in Suggestions
Having a fire nearby seems to help you get dry faster. This makes me want to try lighting a fire directly under a tree and see how difficult it is with the matches... -
So I'm a fan of the gun-strap or just generally "shoulder strap" idea. I always find it a bit funny with the machete magically attached to my back. I don't really care what mix of two things you use those shoulder straps for. I don't particularly like the idea of people running around with two large firearms but I don't oppose it either and ideally it would be nice if one-day inventory weight was attached to calorie-burn and/or stamina drain. Ultimately you want players to make choices and trade-offs and putting a price on what they choose to carry beyond simple "slots" makes the inventory system as a whole much more dynamic and strategic offering rewards to different play styles.

Great video, I'll never shoot a pig.

This is like the saddest story ever. You did well though!

I really don't see the problem. I suppose you could have a variation of the type of building filling the same role maybe? There's nothing wrong with the building that exists though. As has been said, if you know someone is there you are free to leave. You are also free to siege it if you have the manpower to try and wait until the guy either tries to leave or logs. Or you're free to run in and pick up a few extra holes. If you have a manpower advantage, again, you might just win or flashbangs/grenades.

Funny stuff, especially with an element of role-play.

I could see this, I like the idea of using wooden things as fuel.
-
Ha, maybe not yet, I'm sure there will be plenty when it shows up in the "what we're working on" in the Dev Update Statuses. :)

I think travel times should roughly correspond with what a fit person can do in reality, similarly vehicles should represent speeds that they can realistically acquire.

What new Rifles would you guys like to see?
ebrim replied to Forrelist's topic in General Discussion
AN-94 with it's default firing mode being the 2-shot burst. It's essentially a medium to long-range, highly accurate double-tap. This, or it's fictional analogue, was my weapon of love during the entire S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series but really shined in Call of Pripyat. -
Do you think the LRS will be removed from Mosin when...
ebrim replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
I'm fine with this, the PU scope feels more "right" on the Mosin anyway. Using the mosin as a sniper always feels a bit strange to a Red Orchestra vet like me. To me, it's my assault rifleman weapon which kills as many with the bayonet as the boom bit. (speaking of which... bayonet functionality...) -
It's not a punishment for anyone, it's enforcement of rational gameplay. Soon there will be vehicles, including simple things like bicycles which will allow you traverse distances without having to sprint everywhere. As for your example, I think there's nothing wrong with that, travelling across significant distances should be an undertaking not a casual jaunt. If you want to do it much faster invest time in getting another mode of transport, until then you can roflsprint but it won't be forever.

One of my favorite vacations was to Cyprus a few years ago. I had a friend who was moving there for a year and I just wandered about the island for two weeks, loved every minute of it. Also, I never did one of these introductions. Hey everybody, I'm Eric and I'm currently living in Chicago. I've been playing DayZ for nearly a month now. I'm one of those hardcore mode, make you starve to death elitists. I'm generally a friendly player, which roughly translates as I view the point of the game as survival so I don't go looking for fights as any fight could end with me quite dead.
