    New Temperature System

Are you getting the cold status or just messages that you are cooling off? I've been getting the messages but whenever I use the thermometer I'm at 35C. I haven't been out in the rain too too much so we'll see.
  2. Like with many power-imbalance animosities it probably goes mostly one-way though. Most Russians probably don't really care much about Finland one way or the other while the Fins are motivated by all-consuming and eternal hatred. It's like how many Argentines feel about the British.
  3. I don't think anything is 100% reliable aside from certain mathematical axioms. ;) So the other day someone was complaining about the baseball bat. As I regularly suicide my characters to make way for new patches, I figured I'd just strip naked and see how many zeds I could kill with the baseball bat before I died from bleeding/hypothermia. I got rather bored with the experiment after running through most of Cherno and walked off a building. The first zed I ran into was a hopper and he was pretty easily dispatched (head is more in the swing radius). The second zed was a walker and to begin with I did have a lot of trouble hitting him. So I altered my approach (moving with the animation in a left strafe) to also move forward into the zombie trying to get my bat to connect with the head. That basically did the trick and I was dropping them from that point forward in 1-3 hits. I suspect that many people think that doing "x" should result in an optimal outcome based upon previous experience and when it doesn't they declare the system "broken" and give up on it instead of varying their tactics. Generally in melee I only get hit due to glitchy type things like my hitbox getting stuck in a door despite my character having moved on or the like. Earlier today I was using the one-handed hammer, that's a lot of fun. None of this is to say that I think melee is in finished state as is but rather to suggest that people alter their approach to make the best of the current system (which is plenty functional) rather than cry "unplayable" to a dev team who fully well know that melee isn't finished and that also have a huge list of other priorities.

    Love the New Sway

It doesn't really seem to be that bad. Yes holding breath doesn't seem to work right now and that may be a bug but the sway in general is fine so long as you're not suffering from the invisible injury which the OP has mentioned probably isn't affecting him.

    Playstyle Poll

I'd say neutral in that generally I try and avoid people. I won't snipe someone from afar because that seems entirely pointless as it's unlikely that I'll loot them (I don't randomly shoot animals for the same reason). If I'm in a town though and I find someone, have little option for escape and feel I have the drop before they discover me, I'll tend to kos or take my chances on the mic. I actually carry a pair of handcuffs in case someone survives in which case I'd patch them up and move on. It hasn't happened yet...

    Ghillie suit, rangefinder ?

Yep, talked about in the latest dev stream, if one would like to watch it.
  7. Embrace the stun baton, I don't use it against a single zombie (I use my screwdriver or some other one-hand weapon) but if there's a group or a player I'll stun the shit out of them. People who rely only on the axe will one day suffer for their lack of imagination and adaptability. Most people (as this thread further suggests) are absolutely horrible at melee and using the axe as a crutch isn't doing them any favors.

Whats your favorite location on the map?

I always seem to return to the coastal mountains in range from Nadezhdino all the way to Three Valleys. When I'm brave I go and fish at Elektro dam.

    Living off the land challenge

I'd love this even more if the portable cooking stove didn't auto-burn. Chopping a tree down every time you want to cook doesn't feel right.

    Greatcoat

Thanks, I looked through the "already suggested" sticky and didn't see it, so I figured I'd toss it out there.

    where are the guns ?

If you want to never have a problem with ammunition, it seems the shotgun is your best bet or a sporter. I found an SKS the other day in the backseat of a car. They're around, they're just not everywhere.
  12. Yeah, if you think it's dangerous, don't go there.

    Schools/Office building.

Yeah, you can find weapons there, it's just not all the time. I rather like the new loot tables except that I find nothing in the little grey sheds with a door anymore, they used to be one of my favorite spots. :)
  14. Well something that I don't really see as that critical being less of an issue seems adequate to me. The map still has considerable wilderness, especially in the south and southeast, from a little west of Nedezhdino east to the east is a beautiful large spread of wooded mountains and valleys with only relatively minor towns here and there (aside from Elektro and Cherno on the coast). This actually includes Skalisty Island. Devil's Castle down through Old Fields is also relatively sparse and wild, there' also the Black Lake region on the east coast. We'll probably see the areas west of Novo thinned out a little but again there's plenty of nothing up there right now.

Where Can You Find Hunting knifes?

Not necessarily, there are a couple spawn points in the location that do produce mil loot. I did find the new helmet and visor there. Still, it's not much so that should keep traffic down, making it ideal for people who don't like making NWAF runs.

Where Can You Find Hunting knifes?

Ha, that's what I found too. I hope it actually stays that way. Haven't found any hunting knives yet though what Dagwood says above gives me hope.
  17. If player movement starts seeing restriction at some point then this will seem like less of an issue. Currently with each player having the ability to sprint almost infinitely at like 35kph the distances in the game, including wilderness ones become less. I'm assuming that most vehicles when implemented will not be very well suited to going off-road and if they are even less suited to going at high speeds through woods. We'll see more traffic being directed then in more linear fashion between towns, at much higher speed, making the wilderness in essence much larger to a more slow-moving population. I worry more about potential player structures in the future polluting the landscape than I worry about Myshkino's new neighbor or a few more small towns.

Friendly - DayZ Live Action Short Film

    I actually loved the ending.

    No military vehicle loot?

Maybe the military vehicles will be switched over to be more spots for vehicle related equipment.
  20. So looking forward because this is all speculation... Clothes should stop offering any substantive protection. I don't have a problem with purpose-designed "armor" offering protection as essentially these get hit, get ruined and then are worthless (or the plates in them are rendered worthless and must be replaced). None of this protection stops shock damage but it does reduce the chance you get a nasty new hole. If you get hit with a large enough calibre, it doesn't matter how good your armor is, you're still ending up on your ass (staggered, knocked to prone/crouch, etc.). That alone will prevent any such situation where well armored people become invulnerable in any sense but it does give them a "second chance". Either they don't die immediately in the firefight where an unarmored person would or it just takes them slightly longer to die which offers more strategic options.
  21. I think this is right. I already don't use the LRS on Mosin because it just doesn't "feel" right to me. However it's a fine pairing for now from a gameplay perspective. Also, as Katana mentioned, I imagine we'll see a tad more variety in optics in the future.

Weapons - Where Should They Go Next?

I don't really think the game wants or needs much more in the way of conventional small arms (I'm secretly hoping that the 1895 Nagant revolver is already planned so that my Red Orchestra load-out is complete). A couple more tools to use as impromptu melee weapons would be nice, a hatchet for example or craftable spears. Types of traps would be very welcome (the rabbit snare is a lovely step in this direction), as well as more fleshed out wounding system. This would include things like poisoning, infections, etc. Oh and of course it'll be great when the bayonets can be used as proper bayonets. :)

Item Tetris is it worth it ?

I like the current system. Not all items are created equal and some are cumbersome and unwieldily.

    fishing ain't easy

Yeah, I tend to just carry the fishing rod on my shoulder and an axe in my backpack. I don't actually carry around a shovel or hoe at all, they're common enough that when I start running out of worms I make sure to use the next one I find to dig up more and do it again.

    Weather patterns in DayZ

It really doesn't rain that much. What you are seeing is that due to time being on a 1:1 scale, when it is a rainy day that rainy day lasts a long time until server restart. It's also worth pointing out that there are frequent breaks in the rain that sometimes last a couple minutes but other times far longer. If you don't particularly like the rain you'll tend to notice it much more when it happens, each time it rains is a "hit" and you forget all the times you were playing on a beautiful sunny day. It's a sort of confirmation bias.
