great thread! i've been looking for a good recording program

i usually crawl when crossing a street or park, any open area of land in a city i'll crawl across, but if i'm down an allyway i'll crouch. i don't flat out sprint unless i'm in the woods or generally outside a city

global chat helps new players learn. who can seriously be against that? it also brings the players together to share and enjoy the game together. sure, there are unfair advantages to using side-chat, such as your location being given whenever you type. things like that can be removed easily. the other unfair advantage are people telling the whole server where they are and to that I say, 'let it happen.' idiots will be idiots. let someone go and kill them, it might teach them how important it is to keep that info to themselves. no one is killing you if someone else gives away their location, don't fucking worry about it. to all the idiots crying about how 'unreal' it is, let me remind you that you're playing a videogame. a videogame featuring zombies, ffs. zombies that sometimes break your bones with one hit and those broken bones can be fixed with a single shot of morphine.. i think the unrealistic global chat is the least of what you should be complaining about, you purist nutbags.

i'd rather this game not be turned into another FPS with team sides and lame shit like that. i like the risk involved in meeting a random. you might be killed or you might make a new friend, it really immerses me into the game's reality. maybe if it takes off and becomes it's own, standalone game they could add different gamemodes like that

good words. i hadn't thought about two large wandering groups of death before. the sounds awesome. they kind of have that in zombies already, sometimes i see packs of them wandering around the cities. i remember one time i was black and white (lost a ton of blood) and i was running around cherno trying to make my way to the hospital when i stumbled upon a group of six zombies feasting on a recently killed survivor. i remember stopping because of the shock, then one of them turned and looked at me and i swear to god, the best piece of coding i've ever seen, he slowly stood up and i could hear a growl getting louder from him and he was alerting the other five next to him and they did the same thing and then they just broke out and chased me down. my character passed out a block away from the hospital and they ate me, but it was the coolest chase i ever fell into. i don't know if they were coded like that or if it was purely by accident or if i'm not even remembering it exactly, but it was like out of a movie. i'll never forget it.

the ones that ragequit won't be gone for long. they know this is a great, one of a kind game and their tantrums will wear off eventually. if not, well then good riddance

if you've read the posts about the .3 and .4 updates, you'd see that's exactly what Rocket has decided to do. feature additions have been stopped for 1.7.1, they're focusing on fixes now

Possibly, yes about the released title, but isn't it much more logical to take the time release a stabler hotfix than a string of what, 4 hotfixes in the last 3 days? By the end of the day he's just broken more things which he may choose not to keep in the game later. i think that's what a beta is for. alpha is like the beginning of a sculpture. your goal is to have the form of what you want, but the detail starts going in when you enter beta. so while the logic in what you're saying makes sense, it's just in the wrong phase for that right now

are you sure he is in the direct chat? both people need to be in it and need to be close to each other. other than that, get steam, add the game to your steam library and launch it from there. you'll get an overlay and you can add him as a friend to text chat with. or you can spend $9 for a cheap mic and use in-game direct chat, mumble, teamspeak, ventrilo, skype, whatever
