  1. Yes it is, but only to an extent. The point Briljin was trying to make is that yes, it is part of the gameplay, but to make it any more of an aspect of gameplay than it already is will have an extremely detrimental impact on playability. Gameplay is one thing, enjoyment of play is another. Exactly. To my point above, I just don't believe that the majority of DayZ players would enjoy staring at a black screen for 5 to 10 minutes, just to be killed in the end. Being tortured may be fun the first or second time, because it can be pretty funny. However, 6 months into playing the game, it's not all that funny anymore. Besides, can you imagine the mayhem this would cause if the devs decide to increase the difficulty of gameplay by either adding more zombies, making zombies harder, making the environment harder, or increasing server population? This is a game, people want to PLAY it. They don't want to sit in their computer chair staring at a black screen for 10 minutes waiting to respawn. That would ruin this game. I have a wife, a kid on the way, and a full time job. I don't have hours on end to play DayZ. The last thing I want is for the short amount of time that I have to play be eaten away by unconsciousness! Lol.
  2. Holy mackerel!!! That's a ridiculous amount of time to stare at a black screen waiting for someone to come by and, 9 times out of 10, just end up killing you anyways. That's a colossal waste of my time. We need to remember that this is a game. This is NOT real life. 30 seconds is plenty of time, imho, to be unconscious. Actually, if it were up to me, I'd take unconsciousness out of the game entirely. It's just not needed.
  3. 1. I personally would rather see more player population than more zombies. This game takes the "Walking Dead" show's approach where the real danger is mankind's immorality and willingness to do whatever it takes to survive. The zombies are really just there to provide the storyline for why mankind is fighting eachother. That's why this game is so pupular. It's a general rule of thumb that people would rather play against other human players rather than A.I. Adding substantially more players to the game would produce the very same affect that adding more and stronger zombies would in that it would encourage parternships between two complete strangers, because the danger of encountering a fresh spawn who may already be geared up is expontentially greater. And personally, I'd find it much more fun to play with more players than more zombies. 2. I'm all for a more dangerous environment. However, it can't be so dangerous that a fresh spawn only has a 1 in 10 cahnce of survival past the first few minutes. We all want this game to be more an more "survival-ish," because it's easy to survive when we've geared up. But running through a town as a freshie with stronger and more numberable zombies will make survival nearly impossible....and people will just get frustrated with this game and quit playing. 3. Ok. But as a developer, it is his responsibility to produce a product that people want to play. And if a certain playstyle begins to hurt the bottom line of profit and does more hurt than good, then changes must be made to detern such a playstyle. As a developer, he is entitled to make people play the game the way he wants it to be played. He can curtail whatever he wants if he deems it necessary to turn a higher profit and greater success. If that means some quit playing because they can't play it the way they want, that's ok so long as the result of their ceasing to play attracts more players to replace them.

[Being nice] Should I rob people for their M4A1?

Yesterday I followed a hacker who had an M4 with an unlimited clip for about 30 minutes. I watched his route and knew where he was headed, so I set up behind a bush and waited for him. I was on the side of a hill so when he walked up, he had to walk slowly. Everything went perfectly as planned, and he got close enough that I could have hadcuffed him. Had my .357 mag in hand, aimed as his head, clicked, nothing....LBM bug. Switched to my SKS, clicked, same result. He heard me right behind him, so he turned around, and unloaded a few dozen rrounds into me. I guess he thought it was funny to unload an unlimited clip into my dead body who only died because of a game-breaking bug. I get the LBM bug EVERY TIME (not exaggerating) I play this game, and usually occurs an hour into the game. I've died more by glitches than I have by human players. Until these glitches are ironed out, I've given up looking for the ellusive M4. Because I guarantee you, the moment I get that M4, I'll die from a bug. Good luck with your quest though!

    I'm very sorry!

Yes, this is my first post. Hi, how are ya, nice to meet y'all, bla bla bla. :) My name is Zack, my IGN is Zack as well. Been following these forums for many months, but decided not to get involved until now. First, I'd like y'alls opinion on whether or not you consider "respawning while unconscious after a gunfight" combat logging or not. I'm posting this thread to apologize to a player for acidentally "combat logging" if this is indeed the case. It was a pretty fun firefight, and in the end, you won. My stupid CR527 didn't have a magazine, essentially making it a single shot rifle. Don't know how many times I hit you (I did see you bleeding), but you got me in the end. I'm apologizing because I was unconscious and chose to press ESC and respawn before I was technically dead. I was so caught up in the fight that when my screen went black, I assumed I was dead. Again, if that was combat logging, I'm very sorry. I don't play this game as a bandit or KoS'er, I shout "friendly" upon nearly every acquaintence, I donate my loot to freshies, and I die 90% of the time....just wanted to say sorry. Thanks.

    I'm very sorry!

Ok thanks y'all. Can y'alll give me some situational definitions of what you consider combat logging? I want to make sure I don't do anything unsportmaslike. Thanks.
