Dayz Standalone is lacking a huge core piece in my eyes.
chepaco3290 replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
Minecraft is a sandbox game as well, but it has objectives that can be accomplished. Just because something is classified as a sandbox game doesn't mean that it's not allowed to integrate objectives that can be accomplished. -

I'm not requesting anything. The OP is. -

That's not whining, my friend. That's stating an opinion, which Homers like you frown upon. Oh, and I never said there's no objective. I said there's no ACCOMPLISHABLE objective. Surviving is the objective to this game, but it is not something that can be accomplished. You need to learn to read before you post, and you really need to learn simple forum etiquette like continuity and quoting someone correctly. Thanks. -

You included that in the section of your post where you were speaking to me, and about me. You made no indication whatsoever that you changed your train of thought. Next time, be a little more careful with continuity when you post. Second, I called you a homer because you saw "danger" and prematurely reacted to it when there was no danger to your precious DayZ at all. Whether or not you were speaking about me personally when you said "folks" doesn't matter because NO ONE in this thread is complaining about the $30 they spent on this game. You said "Folks that cry about their 30 bucks make me sick"... who exactly is crying in this thread? The OP simply stated a fact that there is no accomplishable objective to this game whatsoever, and since he is, as you say, a "tester" who simply "invested" in the devolpement of a game because it's Early Access, I think he's more than entitled to have tested this game and found it lacking on that point. He, along with anyone else here, ought to be entitled to create a thread without the Alpha-ers and Homers jumping down his throat, do you not agree? No one here is comlaining about spending $30, so your paranoia can rest at ease for now. -

I read just fine: "First of all, look for games that are interesting, exciting, and that you want to play." http://store.steampowered.com/earlyaccessfaq Yes I do just want to play. That's the whole point. I wouldn't pay $30 for a game I don't want to play. -

You need to take a chill pill there buddy and stop acting like a homer. Where was I complaining about spending $30??? Please, quote that for me. As a matter of fact, it's been the best $30 I've spent on Steam in a very long time, and did I ever say that was expensive? Also, where did I complain about the fact that this is an E.A.???? Again, please quote that. I'm well aware that this is an E.A. title at the moment, I never denied that or complained about it. The only point I was making is that this is a GAME that happens to be in Early Access...but it is a game first, and people paid $30 to PLAY it. Testing would not be possible without playing. This notion that purchasing an E.A. title makes you a "tester/developer" first and a player second is just not true. Heck, even in Steam's info page about Early Access titles, it states: First of all, look for games that are interesting, exciting, and that you want to play. Pretty sure that doesn't say "First of all, look for games that are interesting, exciting, and that you want to help test and invest your money in." -

chepaco3290 replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
I'd say we're more like guinea pigs rather than testers. People pay money so that they can play the game, not test them. I certainly didn't pay a $30 fee to be a developer. -

I must respectfully disagree. We are PLAYERS, not developers. I usually turn a blind eye to the "Alpha-ers", but this I can't. I agree that we did pay money for a game knowing there would be major issues, and that one of the purposes of an early access game is to report issues. I get that. But we're PLAYERS, not developers. Me, along with 99% of early access players, bought this game because we want to PLAY it, not develop it. Yes, we'll help with our reports and suggestions, but I'm not a developer. I don't know a single thing about game development. We paid money to PLAY a game... We did NOT invest in the development of a game, because if that's all I cared about, I would have purchase stock in their company. -
I'm surprised no one has called this fake yet.

So the game is pretty pointless (LMB Bug)
chepaco3290 replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
There are theories, but every time I play this game, it happens to me. It always happens about an hour into the game, so it may be something related to poor optimization of RAM or something along those lines. You'll notice, while reading through these forums, that some players think this bug is an "extremely rare" bug, but for players like me, it's the MOST COMMON bug that I encounter. Some players report random broken bones which they claim happens to them all the time, yet I've not experienced that a single time. It could be based on play style, it could be based on the hardware in you computer, it could be a server-related issue...no one really knows anything more than speculative theories. Until the dev's tackle this game-breaking bug, the game is quite unplayable for folks like you and I. -

chepaco3290 replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
Not always true. LMB bug occurs randomly. Half the time for me, I'll be engaging an enemy (player or zombie) with a weapon, and it will just stop firing. Then my life ends. It's not strictly related to melee. -
LMB bug. 'Nuff said.

Next time get that on recording!

First off, if this isn't the right place for this thread, I apologize. Please send it where it needs to go. When I zoom in, whether by pressing my RMB or looking through binoculars, my screen will something "flicker" white, usually displayed as white lines about an inch thick...then the whole screen to turn white and "cool down" to the normal picture. This happened yesterday and it was yellow, instead of white. It's probably an SLI issue. I'm using a Lenovo y510p with the GT755m SLI and i7-4700mq. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

White flashing screen while "zooming in"
chepaco3290 replied to chepaco3290's topic in General Discussion
Yes. There are ways to force the SLI in the ultrabay to function, though due to bad optimization, it doesn't function to its fullest extent. However, It does at least keep me at 25-30 fps in cities...any lower than that, and this game becomes unplayable. -
White flashing screen while "zooming in"
chepaco3290 replied to chepaco3290's topic in General Discussion
It's not consistent enough to know if it's an SLI issue or not. It only happens once every couple days I play. I guess I could turn it off and wait a week or so and see if it happens again. But this game is already so poorly optimized that even on lower settings, I'm only getting 25-30 fps in cities, less in the big cities. Turning my SLI off would just make that worse. -
Found a mag for my fnx, but since then I haven't found a single round to load it with. And ditto on the 9mm issue. Walked into a police station yesterday and found 3 boxes of 9mm. Haven't seen a single weapon for it though. 9mm ammo is about as common as a rotten zucchini right now.

Does the game become worse every update?
chepaco3290 replied to Bearserk's topic in General Discussion
Just wait till you get the LMB bug. I’m fully geared at the moment, probably more than I’ve ever been in the past. Was looting Zelen when a couple zombies began to chase be, and that was when the LMB bug started. Happens to me EVERY TIME I play this game, usually an hour or so into the game. So I ran…and I ran…and I ran. Those zombies just do not give up the chase. There are many game breaking bugs in this game ( I know, it Alpha, bla bla bla), but I would agree that it’s getting worse, not better. But as they say, the dark is just before the dawn. Let’s just hope that the dawn comes soon! J -
My thoughts exactly.

This is the first game I've ever played that has caused me to have such a rush of adrenaline and fear that it, too, has left me shaking. That is the ONLY reason I keep playing this game. The fear of other human players is immensely exciting and addicting.
-
This is just a game. "Looking your enemy in the eye before ending his life" really how no effect on a video game. I personally do not snipe people just for the heck of it. To me, that's boring. But this is a game, and others enjoy playing it that way, and they can play this game however they want. I wouldn't consider it being a coward, though. It's just a game.

This has happened to me several times, and on a couple occasions I've found the very item that "disappeared" one floor below me. For example, my backpack is full of stuff. I walk up to the second floor of a building and find a bigger backpack that I want. I "swap" backpacks, but the backpack that had all my stuff in it disappears. If I'm lucky enough that directly below me is a hallway or room, and can go down there and retrieve my item(s). This actually happened to me yesterday. I was on the second story of a police station and swapped out my SKS for a mosin, but then decided I wanted the SKS back. However, it disappeared. I then went downstairs and found it directly underneath where I had swapped it out above me. If this happens to you on the ground floor, you're screwed because it probably glitched through the floor. In a lot of buildings, there are "basements" underneath that a lot of players (including myself) have reported spawning in and unable to get out of.

POLL: Should recently-rendered-unconscious players be able to immediately respawn?
chepaco3290 replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
If that were true, there'd be loads of people injuring themselves on purpose or intentionally breaking their legs just for challenge of trying to nurse themselves back to health. It's a nice thought, but I highly doubt there are players who enjoy this experience. -

I don't recall saying that I am ok with the travel time :) On weekdays, such as today, I'll log on and carefully loot a town that I'm in, then log off for the evening. Then if I have time to play tomorrow, I'll log on and loot the same town. I'll do this all week until the weekend when I have more time to explore. However, even if I decide to go to another town, my 10 minutes is definitely better spent walking than waiting.
