Me either. I have yet to see a bonafide hacker. Sure, I've been shot from who-knows-where, but that doesn't mean it was a hacker.

With as poorly optimized as this game is, you'd probably need a computer from the CIA headquarters in order to be able to play on an 80 player server.

With the character wipe coming soon, what's on your bucket list of things to do before your character perishes in the server apocalypse? My character is fully geared right now, and about a month old. I'm going to join a full server and run back and forth from one end of Cherno to the other with my microphone on until I die. I will time myself and post the results here. If anyone wishes to join me, feel free to do so! I do hope to find a fellow bucket-lister along my journey. Then, when I respawn, the next item on my list will be to find someone, give them my nice new battery, then ask them if they will force me to lick it (not sure if this is even possible, so I want to try). Lastly, if I still have time, I will strip myself down to nothing and lay prone in the town center of Cherno, waiting for someone to come help, thinking I've broken my leg. If they ask me what happened, I'll tell them I was gang banged and left for dead. Then I'll leave my fate in their hands. Either they will try to give me a splint, which will give me hope in humanity, or they'll do what 90% of people do - torture, then kill. So how about you?

Tent Wipe #2...why? "Devs please read"
chepaco3290 replied to Aquintas's topic in General Discussion
Part of it being an Alpha is you being their guinea pig. I doubt they test anything more than essential functionality (sometimes not even that much) when they release an update. They can't hire a kid to post a "here's what's to be expected" because they don't know what's expected until players like you report it to them. I agree with you in the sense that "Alpha" is not an excuse for poor behavior and unprofessionalism. However, in this case, I think it really is a matter of it being an Alpha. The devs don't have time to sit at their computers and post updates about bugs all day long. -
Saying things like: "The people responsible for adding cosmetic items into the game work in the art department, the art department is not responsible for tweaking the game mechanics and code" -In any context anywhere besides kindergarten makes a lot of people turn against you and call you a homer and a fanboy. First off, I doubt it's "art", it's more likely graphic design. They're not finger painting, buddy. This is not kindergarten, I thought you knew that. Second, everything that is developed within the graphic design department must go through a rigorous process to ensure that it does indeed run smoothly in game. A new, but useless, item involves nearly everyone on their team, not just those in the "art" department, as you say. This process involves work hours from those who ought to be dealing with these game-breaking bugs that have been widely reported for well over a month now, but are rather checking to make sure the bandanna can tear into rags, or a new, but useless, animation works. So I apologize if this is new to you, but developing items affects more areas than just the "art" department. BTW, if anyone is interested, my specs are as follows: i7-4700mq GT 755m SLI 16gb ram Windows 8.1 64bit.

I came here thinking you found SOMEONE ELSE'S tent...LOL. I was curious what goodies you might have found in it.

This has been happening to me since the moment I downloaded this game. I'll either get the LMB bug, or this one. Every time. Don't expect them to fix it any time soon though, they seem to be more conscerned with adding a new food or clothing item that nobody needs rather than fixing game break bugs.
-
ALPHA!!!!!!!!!! Firgured I'd shout that at you before all the homer fanboys do. Seriously though, DayZ is a very poorly optimized game, perhaps one of the worse on Steam's Early Access right now. You'll just have to wait a while before they fix this, if they even do.

Why...........(movement and avatar control)
chepaco3290 replied to creativecole's topic in General Discussion
I'm not arguing against the fact that movement in DayZ is "different." Obviously it is, or else we wouldn't be having this discussion. I'm also not even technically arguing for a truly RL movement experience. RL is boring, that's why I'm playing a video game. I'm simply arguing AGAINST the opinion of some that DayZ IS like RL, because it most definitely is not. To the OP's suggestion, I'd consider CS:GO controls to be more representative of RL because in RL everything is perceived to be instantaneous whether or not it actually is. In DayZ, you have to consciously decide to release your button before you arrive at your destination, and this just is not, in any way shape or form, reflective of RL experience. Regardless of whether I'm hiking with 50lbs on my back, every move I make, whether it be to turn left, turn right, stop, or go, is perceived to be instantaneous in my mind. I don't accidentally keep walking and run into a tree when I meant to strafe left. So I believe this should be the case in DayZ as well. Clunky movement adds absolutely nothing to gameplay other than frustration. -
Why...........(movement and avatar control)
chepaco3290 replied to creativecole's topic in General Discussion
Like you said, "It's all instinctive." I am aware of the physics involved in kinetic energy and momentum. But when I choose to walk from my kitchen to my dining room table, I don't consciously tell myself "To begin walking I must shift my body weight and slightly lean in the direction I wish to go." And when I approach my destination, I know for a FACT that I don't have to consciously tell myself to stop walking. When I decide to walk, I perceive it to be instantaneous. And when I want to stop, it's instantaneous from a conscious perspective, regardless of what physics were involved in helping me stop. The clunkiness of these controls are no where near "real life" because in this video game, we make conscious decision on precisely when we want to sprint, or stop, and those decisions are based on a button that we press. In real life, though, this is all done subconsciously which causes us to perceive it to be instantaneous and precise. -
Why...........(movement and avatar control)
chepaco3290 replied to creativecole's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, and also if you ignore how tightly you decided to tie your shoes upon spawning, or whether or not that pair of boots you found in the barracks are too big for you. These 2 factors would play into how quickly you can sprint or stop as well as the "latency" and friction that you speak of. But this is a video game, this isn't real life. When I press a button, it should immediately respond. If people like the clunky, unresponsive movements, that's fine with me. Everyone is allowed their personal preferences. But to say that it is more like real life??? Not a chance. -
Hope a developer will answer this question. I don't believe it is, especially considering how easy they made it to edit these values.

Why...........(movement and avatar control)
chepaco3290 replied to creativecole's topic in General Discussion
It should, but DayZ clearly doesn't. I don't buy that for one moment. When I press "W" I should IMMEDIATELY move forward, and when I release "W" I should IMMEDIATELY stop. In real life, I don't tell myself to stop and then keep walking so that I overshoot the door that I want to walk into. That's just silly, man! But if that's real life to you, then maybe you should see a neurologist. ;) -
Why...........(movement and avatar control)
chepaco3290 replied to creativecole's topic in General Discussion
The best word that I've seen used to describe DayZ player movement/controls is "clunky." It really is, and this is not a good thing imo. It's frustrating to say the least. Just walking through a house can be a pain sometimes. It's not precise, and it should be because it's a video game, not real life. When I press "W" my character should immediately move forward, and when I release "W" it should immediately stop. Gun sway is fine, but gun control should not lag. I really do hope the devs make movement and controls more fluid. -
I hope this will iron out the horrendous optimization issues this game has. I have a $1,200 laptop that has to play this game on low settings. It doesn't support my GPU, and everything looks plain old ugly on my machine. I simply shouldn't have to edit config files to get playable frame-rates! I'm craving the high quality experience that we all see on YouTube videos, but I don't have a $3k desktop pc to provide me with that experience. With H1Z1 coming to PS4 as well, I simply can not wait. When DayZ PS4 is released, I'm going to kiss this pathetic PC version goodbye, and never look back.

Proactive Players Creating New Layers
chepaco3290 replied to leviathanapsu's topic in General Discussion
It's a neat idea, but like others have said, it just won't work. You'd need a significant group of players to defend against large clans who see this as a payday opportunity. By the time your friendly clan joins the server along with a couple unfriendly clans looking to bust down your party, there's only about 10 or 15 slots left in the server for "loners", who'd be your "customers". That's just way too much effort and danger to put into something that most likely won't produce anything but a PvP death match. -
Zombies are weak, they need to be stronger...
chepaco3290 replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I agree with that. The quicker people come to realize this, the quicker some folks can move on to a game that is more suited to their liking. It's not that people just like shooting people for the fun of it though (CoD/Battlefield style). It's the fact that we ARE surving and our survival depends on one thing and one thing only - LOOT. There's no better source of loot than another player, so when someone kills me on sight, I don't cry and while and call them punk CoD kids...they're probably grown adults who realize that ending my life and taking my loot will most likely make their survival much easier. That's the whole point of this game. And there's nothing wrong with that. As a matter of fact, there are plenty of PvP FPS games out there, but never has there been one based on survival. Zombies never added enjoyment to this game. As I read the reviews on Steam prior to purchasing the game, all the great stories were purely PvP. I didn't read reviews that said "I broke my leg and starved to death...and it was awesome!" and thought to myself "Gosh, this sounds like a fun game!!!" No, it was the PvP stories and the PvP Youtube videos and the PvP Steam reviews that convinced me, along with millions of others, to buy this game. If someone wants this game to be all about zombies, building camp fires, fishing, and eating wild berries, this is not the game for you. I'd reccommned TheForest which is exactly that sort of game, and they are planning on releasing a coop mode so you can survive TheForest with your friends. I bought it myself and it's a very very good game atm, definitely a more polished Alpha than DayZ (que the homers!). -
Zombies are weak, they need to be stronger...
chepaco3290 replied to battlerhd's topic in General Discussion
I'd rather see a drastic increase of player population rather than more and/or stronger zombies. The zombies are only there to create the story line - the reason why we're surviving. The enjoyment, though, comes from player interaction. The sole reason why this game is so dang popular is NOT because of zombies... It's because of fellow players. That's just my opinion though. -
Dayz Standalone is lacking a huge core piece in my eyes.
chepaco3290 replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
What you need to get through YOUR head is that people have the right to voice their concerns, and to suggest things that they'd like to see. Over 2500 posts and you're still clueless "son." You and your bro (as he calls you) Xbow are certifiable Homers who blindly defend DayZ as if it was your precious 2yr old daughter. Grow up. -

chepaco3290 replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
No, it wasn't over my head. You crassly declared that you couldn't comprehend how someone can get through REAL LIFE if they are unable to make their own objectives in a VIDEO GAME. The OP has every right to suggest to the developers to add more creative objectives other than to just "survive until you get bored." I'm not the one who made fun of people based on their video game preferences. First, I never said DayZ was that type of game, nor did I say that I wanted it to be that type of game. You and Xbow have a difficult time reading what's actually written. The OP has every right to make suggestions about gameplay without homers and fanboys jumping down his throat. -

chepaco3290 replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
All accross the internet you'll find articles that define "sandbox" differently. I agree that sandbox refers to a game where you can manipulate its ingame structures and build structures. However, even using that definition, DayZ is NOT a sandbax game at the moment. It will be (to a very limited extent), but it really isn't even a sandbox game right now. According to wikipedia, There are no tools to modify ANYTHING about DayZ at the moment. In that respect, the OP is correct in that DayZ is indeed missing a very core piece of what it means to be a "sandbox" title. At the moment, it is just an Action Adveture game that has no story line, no end. -

So in your opinion, people who like video games that have completable objectives are people who can't "survive in real life"??? Goodness gracious...... This is a game, man....a game. You know, a GAME. Yikes...And this thread was started by an individual who simply would like to see more objectives added to the gameplay that can be completed. Is he a weaker life form than you because he suggests, as a fellow "tester" who's paid their $30 to "test" this game, to add objectives to gameplay? -

chepaco3290 replied to Zanders's topic in General Discussion
?????????? So in order to "get by" in real life, one must be able to create their own objectives in a video game??? What does real life have to do with making objectives in a video game??? I think you should take some time off of video games, my friend...they're getting to your head. ;) -

If you're going to get your panties in a bunch, make sure you quote people correctly before doing so. It just makes you look incompetent. And when you're called out on the fact that you clearly misrepresented both myself and other "folks" as you said, just man up and admit you made a mistake. You of all people should know how to act like a man, right. ;)
