I've been server hopping (I know, shame on me....whatever) since .49 was released, just to try to find an AK. For the first time I found an AK101 YESTERDAY (which I dumped for an sks because without a magazine for the 101, it's useless). That should give you an idea of how hard it is to find them. Most items are still found at the same locations they always have...it's just that the spawning frequency of said items has been significantly reduced.

A look at one of the new zombie models
chepaco3290 replied to haknslash's topic in General Discussion
Well, then, don't. 99% of the world considers them "zombies". I wonder, when you're running around Cherno with a friend and you see one of these creatures chasing your friend, do you yell out "Dude, behind you, there's an 'infected human with a virus' chasing you!!!" They're zombies. Even on DayZ's Steam page, the tags for the game are "Survival, Zombies, Open World, Multiplayer." -
This seems to be an issue with ALOT of games. I've played many games where players were not able to perform an action while moving. In one particular game, this issue was raised and the developers posted on the forums that to give us that capability requires an exuberant amount of coding and engine-work. I don't anything about that, but apparently it's a big undertaking... At least that's what some game developers say. Perhaps someone more computer literate can explain.

Anyone else losing items when they are dropped inside of buildings?
chepaco3290 replied to Zardoz75's topic in General Discussion
This happens a lot when you're not on the ground floor. This has been a bug that's been around for many many months now. -
We'll I've had them edited for 2 months now...

The new location of the balota camp screams "sniper bait!"

The new ballot tent camps. -
If you're going to copy and past someone else's words, you really need to cite your source. Plagiarism is illegal.

The new location of the balota camp screams "sniper bait!"
chepaco3290 replied to TheWizard14's topic in General Discussion
Eh, no loot spawns there anymore. Not really any reason for anyone to go there right now. -
Yeah I'm afraid if all you're getting is 50fps right there, it will be more like 15-20 (or worse if on a high population server and there are other players within rendering distance) in novo/cherno/electro/etc.
-
Crap.... I logged out yesterday in the woods between zelen and this place, hoping to log in tonight and take a trip to the tents to find me a scope for my akm.... But now I don't know what to do!!! I ain't risking going there is no one is finding anything of value there.

Favorite things about .49 so far
chepaco3290 replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
Zombies will die with on hit from an axe regardless if you aim at their head, their body, or their toenails. The only zombies that require more than one hit (2 hits) are the militarized zombies. I've never once aimed for their head. It's just a matter of dancing around it until your axe lands a hit. -
In the update they changed loot tables. From what I've gathered, that means they've either changed where items spawn, or they've changed the frequency in which they spawn. I've played about 4 hours with the new update, I've walked a giant circle around the entire map, and I know for a fact that loot has been changed. I now a lot of people are ereporting that it's still easy to gear up, but I've never had this much difficulty finding an akm and ps01 scope. Still don't have a scope, and I've hit every location that spawns them, on low pop servers none the less.

If duping & glitched mags are now in the past...
chepaco3290 replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
My expectation is that since this game is still so early in development, it will only be a matter of time before someone finds a new way of glitching these items all over again. It happens with nearly every game...they patch it, and people find a new way around it. There already is very well known and popular hack that allows a player to spawn any item. So although this wipe will get rid of all infinite mags, it will not get rid of infinite ammunition. Everyone might as well expect to still find people with fully decked-out m4's and backpacks full of grenades and ammunition the moment the servers come online. Nothing will change until the solve the hacking problem. -
I owned a Gateway once...worse PC I've ever owned. ;) *slaps knee*
-
There have been no official wipes yet. All reported wipes are due to server issues, but those wipes happen by accident, not on purpose. There will be a game-wide wipe in the coming days to clean out the hacked items that people possess.
-
They probably spawned in the building. It's more likely they were hoppers rather than hackers. Just because you were watching the only entrance to a building doesn't mean you were killed by a hacker. Got to be careful what you call hackers. Everyone agrees that hacking is a major issue at the moment, but it seems like everyone on these forums claims they were killed by a hacker when in reality they probably weren't.
-
I've not been aware of anyone being banned for cloning/duping. It is not a hack that modifies anything in the game. It's a glitch. And since cloning does not leave a trail of having modified scripts or code that can be intercepted by anti-cheat programs, it's really hard to ban people for it.

Black spray paint. :) -
The OP thinks he's been illuminated with the greatest idea to ever hit DayZ, and he won't let anyone's rational arguments stand in the way of his triumphant enlightenment.
-
Were other players able to see this?
-
NOONE LIKES YOUR IDEA. There, argument invalidated. Moving on...

This is the faulty basis upon which this whole idea of stats is built. Stats can not "prove" anything, nor can it accurately hint to anything either. First off, if you were in a zombie apoc, would you be able to approach someone and ask them to "show me you stats please"??? No. That completely destroys the immersion feeling of DayZ. Second, if you did ask said individual for their stats, could they not give you a false stat to make you believe something that isn't true? Last, what about those of us who play the "hero" type and hunt bandits? That's what I do in this game...I hunt bandits, and I love doing it. But that would make my stats look like I'm a KoS'er. My stats would not prove anything whatsoever unless there is a hero/bandit/medic class system which can tell another player what kind of people I tend to kill. Your assumption is simply faulty on so many levels.
-
Yes it is arcade-ish because there's a computer determining your stats for you, and displaying them to the other player upon your choice to display it. But that completely ruins the immersion aspect of this game, because players should have the ability to lie to another player and tell them "yeah, I've killed 1000 zeds and only 5 players" and see if the other player bites the bait. For the game to record your kill stats just screams arcade. Not on the first encounter, but after that first encounter, you'd "recognize" them. Maybe you'd even nickname them, like "oh, there goes Chuck, because he tried to beat me up once" or "Oh hey, there's Al Gore again...because he was an idiot and drank disinfectant." The only stat I'm ok with is displaying names because in a zombie apoc where very few humans remain alive, people would soon get to know everyone in their area whether it be by sight or by word of mouth. Besides, it would definitely help with reporting hackers, which is enough for me to support it.

If you're buying the game then you should know what you should expect.

Yes.....yes, yes, and yes. A *hug* animation would just be hilarious!!!! -
It won't be for a little bit. 0.49 was just recently released on experimental, and it is still extremely littered with bugs that make playing it nearly impossible. It's far from stable right now. If I were you, I wouldn't expect it for another week or so...and if it comes earlier than that, well hey, surprise! :)
