I like the swing animation on the Flanged mace tbh, its kinda easy to aim and land hits with it though its range seems to be shit. Man, I really REALLY wish that devs would allow us to see the damage tracers on weapons with a command like the -newui thing, so we could see better what is wrong with melee weapons! Doesn't it knockout players if you hit them in the head? I hadn't a opportunity yet to test it on other survivors lol. I could have tested in one guy actually, but he was such a nice person I would feel bad smashing his head lol

I don't understand people saying this game is not b0lonce, just look this fine b0lonce example right there!1!

Imo you should KoS a bit to lose the fear in killing someone and get a bit used to the PVP, because PVP in this game is fucking scary beyond belief m8, you need some experience in this, its a crucial thing in this game. Vantage of walking is that you make less movement, same with crouching, less movement is harder for the eyes to catch. Camouflage helps but notice that in DayZ the world is quite static, movement is something that stands out A LOT in the general landscape. Whenever I'm on a city (especially on the coast) I just walk and go crouched, you would be amazed by how people doesn't see you. In my experience, most of the players are rushing to go somewhere or to look for something. They sprint a lot, and usually play 3rd person. That means, they are not very aware of their environment, tunnel vision is a curse man. Once I was at Kamenka, I was standing up and walking towards a house and m8, a guy came running out of the fucking nowhere, I panicked as I had only a shitty revolver and the dude looked fully geared with AK's and shit, I fucking froze, he goes and enter the house I was planning to get in, PASSING IN FRONT OF ME sprinting like fucking Usain Bolt, I just stood still. HE DIDN'T SAW ME MAN, I couldn't believe it lol. I went on one of the house's window and he was eating something, gave him a bullet to his head. I couldn't believe he didn't saw me hahhahahhaha I wasn't even with military camouflage, just brown and beige civilian clothes and one of those small backpacks that you craft with hope and burlap you know . About having the drop, yeah, you gotta impose yourself man. Show that if the guy doesn't obey you, he is dead. Show him that you are doing him a favor in not KoSing, and you were nice enough to give him the benefit of the doubt. Tell him to press f2 so he put the hands up, if he does not obey within say, 5-10 secs, shoot to kill because there is a BIG chance he will get the first opportunity to fuck you up. If he cooperates, be friendly, offer food, water... In older builds where you couldn't open canned food with many things like today, I usually had a extra can opener with me as a "greeting card" you know. You gotta build up the trust, rare/cool or useful items help in that. Most of the time its a fucking awkward situation lol, don't show in your voice that you are scared. If someone has the drop on you and actually didn't kill you on sight, well, cooperate lol. The hard part is: Guy has a big fucking gun in his hand, you have the drop. Should you kill him or try to make contact? If you scare him, he might just panic and shoot you. If you are friendly, he might see you as a easy "loot piñata". You gotta REALLY be careful. Usually I avoid contact so neither of us end up getting killed. Its hard to make contact when you are in a situation of equality (both has guns and can defend/attack) with the other person. Its always better when you find fresh-respawns or mid geared players, since you can attack and they probably can't defend themselves so you can definitely control the situation and be sure he/she will not kill you. This all, of course, you are not in a military place/end-game loot place. Then you should kill the fucker because its a competition for the loot, if you don't do it, he/she will do it. Maybe you can even trick the more innocent ones with friendly bullshit then kill him/her, that will sure make it easier for you to loot the place and get whatever loot he got before you. Those places are PVP areas man, don't fool yourself thinking they are not lol. Of course there are exceptions, but remember, you might be the innocent one falling for the friendly bullshit lol. Some people say that when trust happens in these places, means that you can REALLY trust the person, but again, its a big gamble and the safest option is obviously kill the person. Why the hell are you looking for friends in the airfield to begin with lol, there are better places for that where people are less trigger happy. Groups I simply can't trust because they already got a friend you know... There is simply a HUGE chance that they are looking for someone to fuck up lol, plus, they could be playing friendly, but on outside of the game communication systems be conspiring against you! How can you possibly know? Too much risk for little reward in my opinion. I use groups to practice PVP skills eheheh, its always fun a good firefight in this game! AND remember, you need to practice your PVP skills, and how to be cool in the middle of a firefight. I can't stress enough how important this is, its basically what differs a newb from a veteran, how cool can you be in the middle of a firefight so you don't take stupid ass decisions. Oh and yes, I already made some friends the way I play man, added on steam and all... But I was a really long time without playing, so I guess those friendships kinda got lost in time lol. But tbh with you, I rather lone wolf then play with friends you know, I like to meet other lone wolves and build up the relationship, I think that this is one of the most amazing and fun things about this game. Really, I'm not a PVP guy who stalks the airfield with a sniper looking to "improve my K/D" or something, I always try to approach people and you know, talk for a while, get to somewhere together then each one goes his own way you know. You meet some funny and interesting people in this game man. But yes, you can actually make good friends in this game, its a great community with both older and younger players. Its a fun ride man! EDIT: Holy fuck look at this fucking wall of text, I'm sorry man lol, my english probably doesn't help either.

Supressing voice-chat outside of Dayz (Skype, Mumble, TS3, etc.)
Avant-Garde replied to S3V3N's topic in General Discussion
NOD cyborgs everywhere! No flinch when they take a bullet to the chest, and now high tech communication systems built inside their heads! At least their built in zoom system (fov exploit) was nerfed! -
Ayyy lmao Switching back to experimental then
-
Welp, does anyone found out how to fix the "wrong version" thing, or do we have to wait for devs to fix it? I mean, can I do something about it or is beyond my control? I guess I'll see how stable version is, such long time I haven't played dayz tbh, I don't even know what is in the stable as well!
-
OP, if you are going to lone wolf, you gotta use stealth and play slowly. Don't run everywhere like a goddamn noob because you don't have anyone to cover you if shit hits the fan. Get used to walk and crouch. You will need to have the drop on everyone you meet, otherwise you are dead. You need a firearm as well, don't hesitate in killing someone you don't trust. Does he/she looks suspect? Bullet to the head. In my experience, don't trust groups of people, they can betray you easily using teamspeak or other kind of outside of the game communication device and you will never know it. Other lone wolves are usually OK tbh, I always end up teaming with some stranger in game for a short time, its really fun when you find someone that trusts you and you trust him as well.

What a beautiful place man! I would love to live in a place like this!

Holy shit that was intense man, must be really fun to do some team deathmatches in this game! I wanna try that lol -
HAHAHHAHAHhAH "hey give me your winchester and I put the scope for you" LOL I would have shot him in the head right there tbh, did he really thought that would work? Seriously ahhahhahahaha thats just... omg... Great video mate, very funny shit you went through

Avant-Garde replied to S3V3N's topic in General Discussion
Really, its such a bullshit thing to do in this game. You are all hidden, a group of people pass by you in absolute silence, where if they were using the ingame chat mechanics they would be doing a shitload of sound. Thats almost cheating tbh, plain bullshit. Thats why I only "trust" lone wolves. All the rest is KoS with absolute no remorse. -
The Psychology of Understanding Alpha
Avant-Garde replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
My high expectations are on the end product, not on the alpher stage. Maybe I wasn't clear about that, I'm sorry. I expect nothing but lag and bugs on the alpher lol, but the end product I do expect it to be good because in my opinion, this was a expensive game compared to others. -

I understand your point, I'm not really complaining you know, I was just saying that imo its a expensive game compared to some others, thus its normal that people will have high expectations. This country....makes you mad my friend. VERY mad. Caveman levels of madness that I just want to swing an axe to someones face until it doesn't even look human anymore, in fact, axe might be just to quickly. A stone knife might be better for this, NO, MEAT TENDERIZER, its perfect!!1!1 Brb i'm going to be..."friendly" to someone in the game right now -
The Psychology of Understanding Alpha

Here in Brazil this game costs more then 70 fucking reais (HUEland money), while other games like Chivalry:Medieval Warfare costs like 40, even 10 bucks on promotions. So yeah, if you ask me, I have high as fuck expectations for a tittle that is this goddamn expensive and with so much propaganda about it tbh. Also, at the moment, there is nothing special about this game that you can't experience for free in the mod so... In my opinion, not worth the money. You can get way more interesting games for less monies. It depends on what kind of game you are talking about. Some of these "deathmatch" games have such high skill ceiling that DayZ wouldn't even imagine in having. For example, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. You take a LOOOONNG time to get anything close to be a decent player. Its a game that now I have almost 3000h (quick note: I paid something like 4, 5 dollars in this game). Quake is another great example, people play this game for years and years and it simply doesn't get old, you can always improve and git gud. Of course there are those newb Cowaduddy shit out there that is so dumb and shallow beyond belief that you can't even understand why people waste their time with such bullshit games. Dayz I have what, 400-500h? And I already saw everything this game has to offer at the moment, the skill ceiling in dayz is ridiculous, there is almost nothing to "git gud" at, just find new added loot, drive around, kill people because you are bored etc. If you are not really enthusiastic with zombie Apocalypse and survival mumbojumbo (which I'm not tbh), this game gets old quite quickly at the moment, as there is nothing really hard to master, its all more about "dayz experience" and tbh, that by itself will not hold this game, especially for veterans who already experienced things, in my opinion. This game seriously lacks replay value once you know shit. Thats why I bitch so much about better melee system, it would give players something to master, would fill a hole in this game. The skill ceiling is way to low in DayZ and that affects replay value in a multiplayer game. In a few hours + some youtube videos and you are all set to be a pr0 survivor with mad sk1lls knowing it all, different from "deathmatch" games, where you might know what you have to do and you can watch youtube tutorials all you want, but you need to practice like a nerd to do it well. it has a reason for you to go back and play the game again. I feel like I just come back to play DayZ to see how development progress, not really because the game mechanics are interesting, idk. The "dayz experience" vanishes after you stop being a newb and there is not much left and I ask myself, why will I even come back to this game when its released, since a lot of the fun is to fallow the development? But you know, answering OP, I do believe that your friend is correct. People paid for this, and since it is in development and this game is expensive, I guess they will have high expectations. At least that is how I think, paid a lot of money for this, I expect a gud product tbh. PS: Sorry for the wall of text in such bad written english lol, I hope you guys can understand eheheh -
Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock?
Avant-Garde replied to Coheed_IV's topic in General Discussion
AHAHHAHAHHAHHAh m8, wtf did I just watched, this channel is pure gold! Thanks for that! Now I see a valid reason for rock paper scissors lol, p0rn is very noble reason tbh Yeah I actually have faith that the new animation system will allow us to see a more fleshed out melee mechanics, but maybe this just isn't in the scope of the game, I don't really know... What can we do, but wait (and occasional rant lol)? I think that maybe if people care enough we might see this, otherwise nope. -
Rock beats scissors, scissors beats paper, paper beats rock?
Avant-Garde replied to Coheed_IV's topic in General Discussion
They could do more useful thing to archive this same purpose, like improving melee mechanics to a decent level, no survival games has this so far. Rock papers scissors is just stupid tbh lol. You know, this kind of shit makes me sad about this game... Oh well.. We will be circlestrafing and spamming attacks like no tomorrow in this very realistic simulator, BUT HEY, ROCK PAPER SCISSORS@!!1HUE And surprisingly enough, this community cries about goddamn train cargos that are not realistic and other minimal useless shit, but for some reason its just ok to spam melee attacks and circle strafe, thats realism it looks like, thats how melee fighting works in real life it seems. Sorry, I think I got a bit mad here lol -
They didn't said anything about melee mechanics improvements, makes me sad. Other then that is pure gold tbh

Hey guys! How are you all? Welp, I was playing today on experimental... I had a magnum in my hand and I wanted so bad to blow someones head off, so I wandered a bit, then found someone! I shoot the bastard one, two, tree... six times and he run like mad man. Slippery bastard took cover, I thought he was wounded bandaging or something, chased him, but then out of the fucking nowhere PEWPEPWPEPWPEP I'm dead, don't even know where them shoots came from. Very well played lol The point is: I shoot the bastard 6 times and I have absolutely no idea if I managed to score a hit or not. In other experiences, where I was sure that I did land a shoot in my victim, I realized that this game either doesn't have flinch at all, or its so bad that its unnoticeable, also blood effects doesn't help a bit. I think we need more visual clues, if I hit someone, he should flinch in my opinion. Survivors looks literally like NOD cyborgs from Command & Conquer lol. The guy today was relatively close to me, maybe 25-30 meters when I opened fire I think, I do believe I did hit him at least once, but I don't know! Flinch, plus some nice blood effects would be nice tbh, at the moment shooting someone and shooting a wooden board feels exactly the same. What you think? In other note, how accurate is the magnum revolver? Seriously I though I was aiming to his head but it seems like not, then I aimed to his chest region but fuck, I don't know if I did score the hit lol. How does spread patterns work in DayZ? Does the bullet goes exactly where the gun is pointed (I did use the iron sight, not the crosshair) or am I missing some kind of sorcery here
-
Here it is, DayZ lack of flinch and cyborg survivors: My char name from now on is MechanicalMan, if you see me, I'm friendly. Unless I have a magnum, then I'm really not friendly and you better KoS me Man I can't wait to see the finished product, with everything in place. This game will be glorious.
-
Yeah, guy seemed like a loot piñata in my eyes lol. I really don't know if any of my 6 shots landed on him, I could have missed all of them! I will never know I guess..
-
I do agree tbh, in my opinion shooting things in DayZ has poor response to the player, especially shooting other players. He had gear man, a big green waterproof backpack, I guess he also had those military vests and possibly a helmet as well but I don't know if military or skate helmet. Oh also, a goddamn submachinegun lol
-
This is all very interesting tbh. I really want to hear more about new animation system and how it will affect melee design, if it will at all.
-
Exactly, interiors and buildings in general are all out of proportion. Its glaring, affects gameplay (shooting from windows, taking cover, walking/running in interiors is shit, realism goes out of the window when you think about DayZ interiors) and its so ugly lol.. Nope, they are really disproportionate. Get a friend of yours, go you both inside a house and notice it. You won't be able to unsee it though.. Lol guys, take a look at the community video, quality melee combat experience of DayZ: Spam and pray. But seriously I'm starting to doubt it can even be better. I mean, we can't even shot people due magic teleportation lag sorcery, imagine a melee system that requires you to react to a animation in order to defend yourself.. Will this ever change? Will tracer system actually be used for something? Because if we don't have to defend ourselves there is absolutely no point in using a tracer system, or even developing more the melee system and its animations. Its a waste of resource tbh. So sad man, wish I could get good in melee, but there is no melee at the moment.
-
What a nice viewpoint over the subject mate. I couldn't agree more!
