Well I guess that was never really the devs intention tbh. What other reason does people has to use third person if not peaking corners? People cries a lot about realism and immersion, third person throw both out the window. Why even care about "balancing" peaking if thats exactly why people use third person in the first place? As I see it, devs did it to look more "modern" you know, over-the-shoulder bullshit like resident evil and such (game will go to consoles after all). If they really wanted to fix this there is no other way then "fog of war" thing tbh. But does people who play third person want this? Do they want b0lonce? I think not, they want peaking. I really can't think of other reasons to use 3rd person if not to create stupid advantages over other people to compensate the hard-as-fuck PVP this game has and the fact that losing your character brings many tears and no one wants that. Remember, in the older builds there was no "3rd person servers" but "Casual" and "hardcore". That tells us a lot about this whole discussion as I see it. By the way, thats not the only advantage that comes with 3rd person. In facehug encounters, if you are in third person its WAY easier to strafe and spam bullets then in first person, melee is also WAY easier since in this game you aim with the swing animation, and in third person you see the whole animation and thus its easier to aim. Really, I see it as "DayZ easy mode", if they balance it (which is obviously not gonna happen because its a natural advantage in many sectors of the game, not only peaking), you might just play first person then.

Ok, so all that seems to happen in this patch...

Thing is: when I'm playing, if the responsiveness is bad my immersion breaks entirely. I might be floating arms in those games, but I don't even think about what I actually am because its really fluid. Like in real life, I almost never think about my presence in the environment, I just get to places without stumbling my way in walls and shit, pretty much like Half-Life 2 for example or Red Orchestra 2. It is indeed fake, but it results in you not even thinking about your presence in the environment, so for example when you jump over a fence in Half-Life 2 it wont break your immersion because its easily done, and IRL its just like that, you see the fence and you jump it no problemo. Now on Arma and DayZ, man... Its a goddamn struggle. You see, in Half-Life 2 there is one clunky element, that are ladders. The responsiveness on ladders are shit and totally immersion breaker for almost like everyone that plays that game, DayZ and Arma seems like full of HL2 "ladders" you know. Its a fight to jump a fence, to get running into a house, to adjust your position on a corner, to crouch walk/run in general and especially in interiors... Everything feels kinda clunky and more often then not your avatar in game does not respond as you wanted it too and either he walks way more distance then you wanted him to, or less distance. I feel its hard to have some movement precision with this movement system. If the environment was in a better scale, this might not be half as noticeable, but you get in a house and everything is cramped it seems, you have very few space for movement in a movement system that seems to require some space to be immersive (outdoors I have almost 0 problems with this movement system). Everything seems to get in your way, idk man its kinda abstract tbh, I'm having trouble to express myself I think lol. I mean, this game on a controller.. Its going to be quite a challenge for the devs in my opinion, how to make this game feels good on a controller? Since there are fixed walking speed and running speed on DayZ, and console players usually control their movement speed by the analog stick. It will be even clunkier! -
AHHAHAHHAh thats some funny shit man, oh god... I know how it feels lol. Fists are really OP tbh as the knock down chance is way to high, it should be a rare thing in my opinion. Its one of the best melee weapons, if not the best if you exclude the weapons that has the same animation of the fire axe (pike axe, farming hoe, splinting axe, sledgehammer etc)

I understand, its funny because its probably more a experience thing. By what you say, I guess the games you play the most are from Bohemia right? I'm relatively new to all this (my first experience being DayZ mod a few years ago) so it all feels terrible sometimes, but I understand what you are saying about the weight thing, its definitely not how I feel when playing Bohemia games. I feel like, I'm way too big and fast you know, I understand what they are trying to archive with this movement system I think, but in real life I also have more control over the speed I walk/run and I can avoid obstacles easier. I do agree that walking in general feels pretty realistic, but everything goes down the drain when you start running, in the mod it was terrible and in standalone is even worse, because you are literally Usain Bolt and since interiors plays a major role, I think the "clunkiness" intensifies. I don't think DayZ would be cool with a movement system like Half-Life 2 for example, but the way it is now is just shit in my opinion, they need to tone it down a bit, or make interiors bigger, I don't know man. Being in interiors with someone else feels suffocating, its plain weird tbh lol, especially if the dude only runs. I hold myself not to shoot them in the head STOP RUNNING GODDAMMIT knocking me back all over the place (the military barracks for example, you can't even have 2 guys inside there, you can't even walk down those corridors due extreme clunckiness) This not only affect PVP aspect of the game, it affects the general experience the player has, a shitload of friends of mine and on reviews people talk about how clunky this game feels, and how that is one of the main things that they don't like about the game. -

In real life I have good responsiveness on my movements, I don't stumble on walls (interiors in DayZ and ARMA are true nightmare fuels) and its kinda easy to get through doors you know, also I don't feel like walls have magnets and I'm made out of metal, etc, etc. To me, a realistic movement system is like, idk, closer to counter-strike or half-life 2, Red Orchestra... DayZ and ARMA is just...clunky as fuck, I simply can't get used to it, but at the same time its kinda fun the artificial difficulty this system adds, but it never felt realistic to me tbh. Looks like I'm driving some kind of robot thing. -

Only because its alpher, DayZ was never in fact a great survival game. ARMA is clunky as hell, that seems to be "realism" to bohemia. -
I wholehearted agree tbh, if this is how it works, then its shit. Also might explain why I had found so much good loot on stable but when it was exp, I hadn't found anything worthy. You can bet that in some days you will find only shitty pistols lol.

Playing .58 stable...full server...where is everyone?

There and at the big north airfield, in exp I died there countless times lol -

Its funny because in my experience it was the opposite, found guns, food, water and clothes in the first city I spawned in. I imagine that interior cities, especially the "shitty" ones with no hot spots are even better tbh. My only problem is the game freezing ALL THE FUCKING TIME, I rage so hard with this lol. But hell, thats alpher right -
GUYS ITS HAPPENING! 1,2 gig

Yeah I feel empathy when I see someone getting killed, its cool to see how other people react to deaths in my opinion. Nice video man!
-
Very well made and entertaining to watch man, good job!
-
Well, at least I get pretty mad when someone kills me lol, so I suppose more people does get mad as well. I like the point OP is trying to make tbh, its indeed glorious to kill someone, specially when you see that the person invested a shitload of time in that char, because you know, people do this to me and I want to share this amazing feeling that is to be really, REALLY mad.

New reload mechanic for bolt-action rifles with scopes
Avant-Garde replied to slizzedy's topic in Suggestions
I like Red Orchestra 2 stile more: click once to fire, click again to work the bolt. If you want to shoot fast with bolt action rifles, then just spam LMB -
I like your stile tbh

Let me save you a headache and tell you where to NOT setup camp
Avant-Garde replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
I never use tents or stock places tbh, I don't even know why the hell would I want that. Whats the reason for stockpiling? I mean, I usually go like this: Fresh respawn, loot basic gear, go towards military bases to find good shit and either die there and fresh respawn again, or if I find the good gear now its random wandering through the map until something kills me. If I didn't find good gear, go to next military place/heli crash until I'm happy with what I got and then random wandering through the map until something kills me. Stockpiling good loot would make me avoid going to military places once I fresh respawn, but then I just miss one of the most fun part of my life cycle that is the risk in military bases and the whole searching for what I want, and jump right into the most boring part, that is random wandering until something kills me. I'm probably missing something, idk. -
DayZ Standalone only hear fresh spawn and all want to kill me ;/ no help nobody...

HAHHAHAHHHAH great video man, very funny -
That was a very interesting watch man, thanks a lot! I actually play like this most of the time! Its funny how encountering people in this game can be a scary experience lol. Yesterday at the north airfield I literally stumbled on another guy, he tried to say something but fuck mate, I was so scared I ran like Usain Bolt, had just a CZsomething pistol and my FPS was kinda low... got the fuck out of there didn't even looked back hahhahahha, my heart was almost exploding tbh, my hands got funny and all that shit lol. I had my mind blown as well, how can a game do this to you hahhahaha In other places I usually control myself better and try to negotiate or talk for a while, but them airfields man! So scary lol

I went to the prison expecting an Aladdins cave...
Avant-Garde replied to Shiva_O's topic in General Discussion
I like the prison tbh, lovely place. I usually close all the doors and hang out there for a while, has such a different feel from the rest of Chernarus, the artist who did it is very talented in my opinion and I would really like to see places with more complex interiors like the prison, maybe a scary ass Psychiatric hospital. Also prison outfit looks *gorgeous* on my survivor so totally worth it, I always end up going there. Now that you can make fire without any matches I have absolute zero problems going and getting back from there. But I wish I could find at least a shotgun you know, I'm not even asking for AKs here lol. Pump action shotgun and I'm a happy man. -
Weapons are everywhere here man, you can't have them legally which results in banditry armed to the teeth while workers can't have a simple revolver to defend themselves. You know what the really sad part is? We are totally dependent on the police to provide our safety, and guess, police in Brazil is just another failed institution here, as every institution we have (schools, health system, Government and so on). Oh well, thats third world right... only a goddamn revolution to save us, in my opinion.

The Psychology of Understanding Alpha
Avant-Garde replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Yeah man, tbh, reading again my post I think I was way to harsh with this game. You see, its totally worthy it, even with kinda low replay value its a goddamn fun and creative game, its simply not "more of the same" and that by itself its a huge thing in my opinion. When I said it wasn't worthy it, I was thinking on DayZ mod you know, that offers a better experience (at the moment at least) costing less then Standalone. But you are correct, this is one of the games I spent more time on, its one of my favorite games indeed. Maybe that makes my expectations high as well you know, I love DayZ, I want this game to be fucking good and not " generic zombie survival game nº3123". DayZ has SO MUCH potential its unbelievable tbh, I would be really sad if all this potential is not explored as it can be. -
Ahahhahah man that looks so much fun, the little girl face when she shoots the SKS hahhaha! Really cool tbh, I'm amazed by how loud the SKS is Fuck I want a Christmas like this now lol!

Man, my dream is a game like DayZ but based on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. It would be so much win beyond belief, them PvE elements, artifact hunting and all that jazz. One can only dream
